I played this game when I was too young to understand Zeal. My brother had to explain it to me, so I never got the full impact of realizing the absolute importance of that place on my own (you know what I mean) Thus I always have a sense of..."hollow" astonishment at the scope and scale of this game, so ahead of it's time :x

"Liberal snowflake" here, uhm,... I dunno how to tell you this in brief, but I'll try. I don't think your understanding of my ideals or those of most of my friends is correct. Screw the patriarchy, yes, absolutely. But that doesn't mean I have any problem with a beautiful artistic silhouette as the background for a musical piece. Or even that I have a problem with sensuality or nudity or sex in general. In fact, I personally love it and think it should be more open as a choice for everyone, and that sensuality in men is under-represented! As a feminist, my only problem with sensuality and sexuality in media is when it seems blatantly skewed and forced, especially when it doesn't even seem to fit the characters, and seems to be only on women. And mandatory. Like, I like having sexy clothing options sometimes. But I'm not always in the mood for my avatar to be baring midriff and wearing thigh-highs. I know there are some "radical" feminists out there who don't represent our movement well though, and honestly, I think a totally "get rid of everything sexy or sensual that is feminine!" approach just hurts our cause and cements the "women are helpless, pure, sex drive absent creatures" part of the patriarchal structure. I feel like they buy into patriarchy and conservative attitudes more than try to help people get out of it. So uh, yeah, sorry about them. But that isn't what most of the movement, or the problems we have with things, are about. All of that said, this is hands down my favorite Schala's Theme remix! I dunno who got it removed, or why, but I'm really glad it's here still. I feel as though this music gives me the power to be anything I want to be: powerful, graceful, strong, or sensual, or even just calm. Or all of them at once. And to me, the picture just enhances and portrays that feeling. It brings back the feelings of awe I had when I first encountered Schala in the game and saw her spending her power in selfless sacrifice for others.

I love this mystical music theme the original was already lovely but this is pure magic. I wish we knew who did this remaster so we could give them the credit they deserve for their wonderful work. The theme truly fits the innocent pure and giving nature of the lovely Schala perfectly. She is my favorite character from Chrono Trigger even though she isn't playable nor is seen in the game long she leaves an emotional impact on the player for sure. Her anti thesis is her own corrupt and evil mother who was so evil she banished her own daughter Schala to a pocket dimension. I hate Queen Zeal more than most any fiction villain.
