Track 21/60 from Chrono Trigger the Musical! (Song releases will be out of order.)
Traveling back to medieval times, learning that the fiendlord Magus attempted to summon Lavos, our heroes find a great battle at Zenan Bridge. Magus' general, Ozzie, is summoning the corpses of the fallen to act as an army, and without serious help, including magical power, humankind will fall.

AHHH, THIS WAS SO GOOD! Ozzie sounds JUST like how I imagined him!(I know we technically heard him before, but it’s easier to hear when he’s actually there for a while) that and the little lyrical clash between Ozzie and Chrono’s gang’s viewpoint was cool, especially that nod to The Hero’s Way. I'll be interested to see what you do for Tyrano Lair. To me, the music there does more than just embody the Reptites' might and ferocity; it also betrays their anxiety and melancholy. There's this sense of fate looming, a doom from the Red Star that they cannot ignore, but they hope they can at least crush the humans first.

Ozzie has a charm all his own doesn't he? In all honesty I appreciated not only how Chrono Trigger lets you recruit Magus (later on) and makes him morally shaded, but even the entire "Fiend race" has a lot of sort of normal civilians who feel THEY are the persecuted ones by oppressive humans... makes you think! Certainly weighty stuff for a silly rpg game for kids

I'm actually surpised this was the 21st song. It is well done. This does introduce a minor structural odditty. So far, all of the major plot points have been either revealed in song or can be inferred. However, the very critical plot point -- the heroes discovering the link between Magus and Lavos -- isn't done in song. This would lead someone uninitiated with the material to wonder WHY the crew is going back to the past to fix a problem in the future. I know there probably would be a scene to explain this, but it would be a stark contrast to all of the other major points. No, Heckran and Ozzie's descendant aren't necessary, but the heroes have to be able to find out in the narrative a way they think they can stop Lavos.
