Bad radiator fan motor causing this 200 to overheat in city driving conditions.

My 2015 is doing the same exact thing. It's a very good car all around but the overheating problem
@theSly1 Жыл бұрын
I had this same problem at 198,000 miles. Fixed it by replacing the 5 amp fuse in the engine compartment for the fan on/off switch. Works like a charm. Car was overheating and broke the internal plastic off two jumper hoses and I couldn’t figure out why. All this time it was the fan never coming on. Thermostats are a common problem with these cars but for a 2015 with now 200,000 plus miles on it this has been a good investment. I sell Chryslers since 2013 and now work for Hyundai but I’m still Chrysler certified. People talk shit about the Chrysler brand for good reason but my personal experience with them has been above average on my 2015 Chrysler 200S 2.4L

I have a 2013 chrysler 200 that's starting to overheat. But I noticed the fan does come on at idle but it dosent seem real strong. And when the temp gage on the dash is starting to climb to high past the middle mark I dont notice the fan increasing in speed which I thought the fan is supposed to get faster when the motor gets hotter. I don't know if I have the same problems as you or a water pump.

I bought my 2015 Chrysler 200s with the Multi Air 4 cylinder in Sept 2014 and drove it 6 years and 130k miles with routine maintenance and didn't granny drive it either, quite the opposite, and it functioned perfectly and I would have bought a new one in 2021 if they were being made. Sporty and economical too. It wasn't a Chrysler but wore the badge. It was a lot of Alfa Romeo inspired suspension and the uni body chassis was built to very high production values. I am now driving another 2015 s as mine was totaled after being rear ended at a stop sign. I am looking for another to trick out a little because I believe in these cars, I know the back yard mechanic who happens to work at a dealership has issues with these because they are not a 65 Chevy and take knowledge and proper tools to work on. The dealership installed a new set of OEM tires inside out, if they can't do a tire swap any actual work on a modern car is way beyond their skill level.

I like how you let the engine run with the radiator fan motor disconnected whilst running the A/C. Testing its overpressure sensors and valves are we ? Poor A/C compressor...
@JamesSeedorf8 жыл бұрын
Do you end up using an oem fan or do you replace it with something aftermarket that is less likely to fail. Seems to me it would be worth buying a different fan even if it is warrantied

These 2.4s seem to be having a lot of problems in this car. I have a 2015 200C AWD with the V6 and I haven't had anywhere near the extent of issues. Mine seems to run a little hot when it idles for a while with the A/C off but not to the extent of overheating or throwing a check engine light. With the A/C on though the fan runs and I've checked for coolant leaks and there are none. Is that normal for the V6? Early on it had a problem with the transmission control module that had to be replaced (that was about a month after I got it) but since then it's been trouble free and I have 24,000 miles on it. I drive it A LOT for my job and I can't say it's been unreliable. People love to say Chryslers are garbage but my family has owned them for years and they've been some of the best cars we've owned. The only one we had that wasn't as good was a PT Cruiser (they're known for being mediocre) but that said it never left us stranded.

2016 Chrysler 200C AWD V-6 I have 50,000 miles never had any overheating issues. Dealership service tech told me that 10 years or 100,000 miles coolant has to changed. I really like car very fast. I had a 2003 Chrysler 300M with 130,000 miles getting harder and harder to find O.E.M. Parts, sold car last year. @TheSavage3.64 жыл бұрын
Horsepower has absolutely 0 to do with engine cooling you absolute idiot. The fan was bad, what do you expect?
@mrburgermaster4 жыл бұрын
@@TheSavage3.6 Lets say we have 2 engines. Assuming 25% thermal efficiency for both engines, with one engine producing a continuous 200hp, and another engine producing a continuous 400hp, then the engine producing more power will produce more heat. More heat requires a radiator that is more effective at dissipating heat. It isn't simply just the fan (it's a large part) if the car was used in a manner that was more than stationary.

I bought my 2013 200 2.4 lx back in 2014 with 38k miles and now it’s Dec 2022 it has 178k from driving back and forth between states every month and these past 2 years have been taken a toll on me. I love the car but it’s been one thing after another. Just replaced the engine cover gasket and no more oil leaking on it but now something else smells like it’s burning. Popped my radiator cap off because the temperature gauge is going the halfway line and smoke is coming out of the radiator. Smh. Possibly housing assembly thermostats. Smh.

I got a 2015 Chrysler 200 that I bought new and I too am having the overheating problems so guess this could be my issue? when idling in heavy traffic the gauge goes halfway and I smell coolant under the hood...I also hear a clunking noise coming from the front suspension is this normal? and my transmission is acting up too...all this started after the car hit 15,000 miles and it now has almost 19,000 but the problems are getting worse and wonder if there is any other known issues?
@gwhunter078 жыл бұрын
Take it to the dealer, that thing is still under warranty. I would have taken it straight to the dealer the first moment it overheated and I smelled Coolant.
@Blazer25338 жыл бұрын
I have and they keep claiming they don't find a problem yet I still smell coolant and it runs funny while idling..I checked myself and have found nothing but the smell of coolant is strong while it idles...one of those weird quirks of newer cars I guess...they did reprogram the transmission and got it working better and did try to do a relearn on the cars computer to fix the idle but a week after it went right back to idling funny..
