Thanks a bunch. I found the new studs didn't have much of a chamfer lead in as the existing studs. That kept me from being able to do your little trick. I ground a chamfer on the studs and it worked like a charm.

I have an 06 Grand Caravan SXT. I had to replace two rear wheel studs. I just backed off the parking brake adjustment & was able to gain enough access to get the room I needed to put the new studs in place then adjusted the parking brake back to where it was before. All good worked great. I've seen videos where some say there is not a pocket to install the new studs. My 06 Grand Caravan SXT did have the pocket. Great video, thanks for sharing.

First off great video, very informative for steps needed. A couple of pointers though first off the two sides of the car will not be in the same configuration meaning front for drivers side is not front for passenger side in relation to the vehicle, instead think right or left of the hub on this job. Secondly adding a small amount of any lube to the stud before trying to install will help pulling stud into place. Thirdly help the air gun by applying pressure to the back of the stud or even tap on the back of it if you can. In most cases you can find a solid spot to use a pry bar at least to help draw the stud into place. Remember the stud support your vehicle anything you do to relieve stress on those parts while install the better for longevity of the part. That's my 2 cents, I liked the video and i want everyone to know this is a good repair for owners the tips I have given is from a professional stand point of how I would handle the job on my personal vehicle. Thanks

I have to say, this is probably the best tips n tricks diy video I’ve ever seen in here. No dumb filler about how gramma ran over a squirrel and after that the stud broke but grandpa wouldn’t change it out of spite for the rodents of America or a non-time lapse non montage of ratcheting and ratcheting and oops and all the other BS these ppl post. This video rocks. And dammit it just saved my ass too. Thanks!

My 2006 LX doesn't have the pocket you used to put in your new lug stud, so I had to loose the brake shoes AND the 4 hub/bearing mounting bolts to be able to put my stud in. And it was pain to loose those mounting bolts.

Did not work on my factory studs on a 05 Grand Caravan. All i needed was an extra 3/8ths or so to remove the studs. Bummer, maybe it is a different length stud than on your T&C.

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan I watched your video but I put the Stud from the left back side - it goes half the way inside hub assembly or what the name is. Then I Put a nut on the right side as we put on Tire. I put Breaker Bar on that nut and pushed down slowly and the Stud was all the way in. Unbelievable fast. I was alone so it was not possible for me to hold the Camera , Breaker Bar and Nut at the same time. Anyone can do it.

it was a real pain in the butt. this was after a lot of hours of work. good luck.

If you put a washer after the not it won't dig in like that and destroy your lug nut

at 3:09. Is that open space for the length of the stud only on the left upper corner (so to speak). I tried doing this on the right side of the brake assembly and there was just no space deep enough for me to wedge the stud in to feed it through the hole in the hub from the back
@dromaker7 жыл бұрын
DeWALTer_White that is correct. always have to insert new stud on the left side.

You need not to do take away that Spring see above and do the same.

Your video is just what we were looking for! Very helpful! My question is how did you get the brake spring back on?
@dromaker7 жыл бұрын
Do you mean the spring that attaches the brake shoes? If so, then the answer is to be real careful and use a screwdriver. It is one of those things I don't have a trick for. Sorry.

I am sorry. I was only after I had gotten that far I found out what a pain it was.

In this case, I’d have to disagree Daniel. He is so concise and each word is informative to the point where we don’t have to see what he did, just know that he did and he did it... for us. Like that one guy did a few years ago. The one who supposedly was borne to some ghostly dude and his ma over in the Middle East Somewhere. I dunno. Heard stories similar to this. Anyhoo. Yeah.

make sure you have enough PSI on your air gun ready to pull those studs through.

you realize that if you don't know where the mfg notch to remove them is, you'll never get them out?
