After a long time of not being used ,we removed the exhaust to weld it up and refitted it and this was the first time we started her up and could actually hear the engine rather than a loud noise ..

The sound of the Simca engine (I.e. a sewing machine on steroids...) was always my abiding memory of these cars. When you heard that noise coming up behind you as a pedestrian you knew it wss a Horizon, Alpine or a Solara....

Fantastic. One of these was the first car I remember my dad having. it was this colour on a T plate if I mind right. never forgotten that sound though in nearly 30 years. I'm told he had a green one before it and when I was older we had a Talbot Alpine. He must have been a glutten for punishment lol

noisy but sturdy, poissy engines, think that after more than 40 years they start the promo shot! mine too
