OMG! I spent HOURS trying to get that seal in the other night!! I tried the socket thing and everything! I ended up having to move my truck out of the shop, so i just put it in the best I could & snugged the cam shaft sensor down and put everything back together so I could move the truck. I'm about to go get that piece so I can do it properly! THANK YOU, SOOOOOO MUCH!!! ❤❤❤❤

Excellent video, as usual. The only thing extra that I do when replacing the camshaft position sensor seal is to wipe a bit of motor oil on the outside of the seal and inside of the hole. After that, pushing the new seal in with the socket is much easier with less pressure. Thanks for doing what you do David.

Great videos and info. Question. I'm dealing with a P0394. Happens only at speeds above 65mph. Cam sensor was replaced. I'm thinking the phasers on bank 2 is the issue. Note I can't calibrate the cam sensors either. Runs great till the higher speed. Then it lacks like a misfire. You would swear it was a coil or a plug. Jeep has 192000 miles on it. I'm gonna do that phaser lock test next. Have you seen this? Ed

My bf and I have been looking to possibly do it on our own to save $$$…a mechanic we know thru mutual friends quoted us $120. Not bad but my bf and I want to try ourselves. What? It's not a plug and play type of sensor replacement?
@MotorCityMechanic7 ай бұрын
@@Kiddro22 its job is to learn where what the cam shaft position is…..so the position of the sensor and how it’s made could affect how accurate it is if “just install” without using the scanner to perform the relearn procedure. Does it have to be done or it won’t work…..no. Would it be more accurate if you did the relearn…..yes. Depends on what equipment you have as far as scanners
@Kiddro227 ай бұрын
@@MotorCityMechanic I understand. I don’t have no scanner of any sort. I have everything open due to replacing the oil filter cooler @ 160k. But don’t want to have to open things back up 10k miles down the road to a thrown code for the sensor(s)

@@MotorCityMechanic that's a good point! I ended up purchasing a Mopar long block last year and had to swap all accessories over so I decided to replace all seals on the valve cover with new OE. Of course it requires a special tool. It's a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram :) My current dilemma is my 2014 Ram 1500 front differential. Turns out that the splines on the right side of the diff are corroded to the point they are destroying CV axles. The intermediate shaft can only be serviced with a diff rebuild so the shop offered me a $3000 repair. I declined until I have to come up with an new plan.
