Lucky to have toured GM Van Nuys & the Nummli plant in Fremont Ca. Body & chassis or engine/ subframe meeting on assembly line is a dance in efficiency & planning.. even customers factory options preferences can be accomplished by special order. Built just for you. It's rare but they can make it happen, instead of regular purchasing off the dealer lot.

Chrysler would have to have had a DeLorean (perhaps DeLorean was an Imperial model?!?) time machine, because if this was 1950, They'd have been YEARS ahead of GM of FoMoCo!!! But seriously, this film is actually more like 1955-56.

Virgil Exner's '55 "Forward Look" saved Chrysler Corp. that year. Too bad they got greedy and screwed up so badly in "57 and onward. They didn't get back on their feet again til the '64s came out. That went well until the "fuselage body" disaster came out in '69. They never really fully recovered from that one until Iacocca came over from Ford to teach Hank the Douche a lesson in manners.

Americans were coming back to work building America and enjoying the new post war world full of promise and new technology! The economy was booming! Prosperity was within the reach of the common man. A new middle class was being formed. And a new threat to the future republican party.

My GREAT grandmother worked for Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company. Mainlly wiring high voltage transformers beginning in 1908, So, Women DID have "blue collar" industrial jobs OUTSIDE of wartime. (dispelling the PC crap taught today.) I also had a great aunt who, in the 1920s that was a process chemist for Eastman Kodak. So, Yeah...A "White collar" educated dame could ALSO get a good job that was NOT "just" a teacher or nurse. (I'm obviously in NO WAY denigrating those fields, just using the stereotypes.)
