I learned about carburetors back in 1981 during high school auto shop. We were each given a carburetor to disassemble and use a thin piece of wire to trace the 7 circuits within our carb. Probably the best way to leatn the fundamentals of a carb "hands on". This video is an excellent visual guide to learn those fundamentals. At the time, I didn't give much thought to a carburetor since it was really the only fuel metering device being used. Yeah, some cars had fuel injection but it wasn't mainstream yet. Over the last 40 years as a mechanic I have watched fuel injection grow to what it is today; the last carb used in production being 1991. That was 30 years ago. It really makes me appreciate what a carburetor had to do. We took them for granted because its all we had. It was really a well engineered device with a huge responsibility
