Be careful. Sometimes when you replace a part and that was not the problem it takes a long time for the code to come back especially when its a small leak at the fuel pump , until it's worse. That is actually the most common cause 2007-2009 Sonatas. When my mechanic replaced mine he insisted on using OEM because he had too many comebacks on aftermarkets with altered design.

Hello i have a 2015 Chrysler 200 and it’s showing up the codes p0456 and p0457 I already replaced the gas cap not sure if you su ok I’d replace the part you showed if it’s a common problem
@EliTheOBDTech3 жыл бұрын
Hey there Jessica. The most common problem on this vehicle would be the leak detection pump which is attached to the EVAP canister, but EVAP purge valve can also be a possibility.

@@EliTheOBDTech Thanks I did change the pump but u will check the purge valve today and let you know

I get the code on my Challenger for an EVAP leak but the strange thing is after I do an oil change it goes away and I do have a oil catch can I wonder?
@EliTheOBDTech4 жыл бұрын
That is very strange, I've never heard something like that. Have you done the visual inspection on your fuel cap for any damage on the seal?
@venomhemi39144 жыл бұрын
@@EliTheOBDTech I actually replaced my fuel cap a couple times it doesn't help what helps is an oil change and then it lasts for about a week not sure what's going on I do have an after-market cam and headers, so I'm always smelling exhaust I wonder if that has to do with it or if I have too much blow-by I'm not sure
@EliTheOBDTech4 жыл бұрын
@@venomhemi3914 Yup, it's hard to say. Another possibility could be faulty or sticking purge valve.

The Eil odb I have a question I have a 09 dodge caravan and it has the code P0456 small evap leak is this a leak in the fuel system or a gas leak somewhere
@EliTheOBDTech4 жыл бұрын
Most likely a faulty fuel cap or faulty purge valve.
@repoillicit21962 жыл бұрын
Would this cause more fuel usage
@EliTheOBDTech2 жыл бұрын
Yes it can, but it all depends how bad the purge valve is. It can be partially open or wide open allowing an internal vacuum leak, which can cause a P0171 or even at times p0172 rich condition

Perform a visual inspection and physical inspection of the entire EVAP system first. Check the following conditions: Holes or cracks Loose seal points Evidence of damaged components Incorrect routing of hoses and tubes Loose or missing fuel filler cap Improper installation of the fuel filler cap Damaged locking tabs on cap and/or fill tube Damaged seal points on the cap and/or fill tube Fuel cap gasket seal

It seems that the evaporative system integrity monitor switch is not able to close the contacts when vacuum is applied by the purge solenoid or when the esim switch reopens due to a large leak.

EVs have more problems and need bigger maintenance when they do need maintenance because they can't be repaired. Crap has to just be replaced. This is ALSO a 20 YEAR OLD CAR now. An age EVs will never get too. They get scrapped before then cause it's just as expensive to replace EVERYTHING vs buying a new EV. ALSO it's WAY WORSE on the environment. NO MATTER WHAT BIDEN SAYS. The mining to produce batteries is WAY worse than oil drilling. AND since we are still MOSTLY using fossil fuels it's EXTREMELY inefficient to use fossil fuels to generate electricity to charge a battery. You end up using anywhere from 150% to 250% MORE fuel to charge the EV to go 300 miles vs the amount of fuel a gasoline car uses to go the same 300 miles. Not to mention people who have been trapped inside EVs. The fire hazard of EVs and how the lithium ion batteries can EASILY catch fire and burn at like 1200 degrees and MELT the car and kill you in an INSTANT. PLUS the replacing of those batteries EVERY 5-7 YEARS. Paying 4,000-12,000 every 5-7 years for new batteries. NONE of these things are positives. You've just been brainwashed by the EV community and government. Someone who TRULY cares for the environment actually does the research and finds out that it's NOT good for the environment. The ignorance is your comment is ASTOUNDING.

not my problem. I replace the solenoid, but still have the small leak.
@EliTheOBDTech3 жыл бұрын
Those small leaks tend to be the toughest to track down. Check for crack EVAP hoses, cracked fuel cap seal.
@EliTheOBDTech3 жыл бұрын
Most times, an EVAP smoke machine is necessary for these small leaks.
