And thus the Chrysler brand legacy of death traps began. I mean this with the utmost absolute respect. From the initial model, to the Hemi Superstocks and Daytonas/Superbirds, to the Viper, and Hellcats/Demons/etc.. you've got to love their commitment to cars trying to kill you, I know I do

70 MPH with no seat belts, and wooden wheels. Its basically if the Amish built a go kart today... Jokes aside, just 10 years before, drivers in the Indy 500 where bragging about going 60MPH in purpose built racing cars. About how you could see angels flying beside you, as life flashed before your eyes. 70 miles a hour in the 1920's was booking it.

70 mph is booking it even now. Yeah there's faster cars but still 70 mph isn't a joke, especially in my tipsy old blazer. It just feels "slow" because we've got quiet comfy cabins, roll down the windows though, stick your arm out, you'll feel every bit of that 70mph.

Easy to see why this was a revelation at the time. Our 1930 Model-A would only hit a bit over 50, and wasn't happy doing it. To this day... speed still sells!

Chrysler was a genius when he made the Chrysler 70. I’m sure Ford and DuPoint were probably thinking that the Chrysler 70 wasn’t gonna sell.

Just imagine if he had lived to the 1960s to see what his cars looked like and drove like then. Walter Chrysler would've loved them, no doubt.

@@Unkown323 Yeah, but by now their cars are a bit faulty, they were faulty in the 60s sbd 70s, and it was pulling the company down. Only when Chrysler or Iacocca were running the show did they produce good cars with a profit.

@@broadstreet21 literally every company has their faults. There are even such thing as defective Toyotas. I worked as a tech for a FCA dealer, there were few poor years of late dragging them down where they had a few more issues than others. That aside, they do know how to make a good product and if you ACTUALLY do the routine maintenance and take care of the vehicles as you should, they can be as reliable as most anything else. Have absolutely seen 300k+ mile cars from the brand. I myself have owned 2 Hemi cars (5.7 and now 6.4) and both have been extremely reliable. Do your homework before you buy ANY brand or model, or you have no one but yourself to blame for the issues you deal with 9/10 times. That said, I have seen far more horrendous and consistent issues out of the Ford owners I have known than any other brand aside from maybe VW.
