***** I think as they are a Taiwanese band that deals with issues related to Taiwan (history, culture, folklore, politics, war, etc) maybe the Taiwanese version is the best way to represent their music. But I find the Taiwanese version of this to be too chaotic with just endless assault on the ears. The shrieking of his voice just seems harder for me to listen to here. On most of their other songs I prefer the Taiwanese version. Not for Defenders of Bútik Palace though. It's just my own subjective opinion. Just as your comment is.

Alright, I'm not trying to be one of those myopic genre nerds but this sounds a lot more like melodic death metal than black metal to me. The riffs, the keyboard parts, the lower-end vocals, the lingering guitar melodies around 2:40--all of those things are closer to Children of Bodom and In Flames than they are to Dissection, Dark Funeral, or Naglfar.
@CloroxJelloShot9 жыл бұрын
Look up Blackened Death Metal. Its exactly what this is. Its also what I consider Behemoth and The Black Dahlia Murder to be.
@DeathMagick19 жыл бұрын
They used to be a lot more similar to black metal, I would agree that they sound a lot closer to death metal than black metal now but in a different way than you would expect from either sub-genre, I don't believe they belong to any sub-genre.
@Smiae9 жыл бұрын
Stonebreaker6088 Well, when I think blackened death metal, I think of something like Myrkskog or Zyklon's "Core Solution." Behemoth, yeah. I'm not sure about the Black Dahlia Murder. I always ignored them, assuming that they had to do with the metalcore-ish, deathcore, NWOAHM stuff that was coming out of the mid-2000s.
@CloroxJelloShot9 жыл бұрын
Black Dahlia are much more influenced by black, thrash and death metal than anything that's associated with NWOAHM. Other than, maybe, Lamb of God. Although they are probably less so on the black metal front. And TBDM don't come out all Deathcore-y. And they probably lean more black and thrash metal. They have a lot of really cool Lovecraft inspired lyrics. Your comment also made me finally look up Myrkskog and Zyklon, so, thanks for that.

Words barely describe the awesome artistical work and meaning behind this music and video. The timeless notion which it deals with, the cyclical nature of violence and the historical character which it presents are really inspiring. I really appreciate the political approach, the music does a great favor in communicating with people that are mostly uninformed about the troublesome history of Taiwan's native cultures. Can't wait to get the album! Too bad there aren't planned tour dates in Brazil
