A master of internal power. A true legend and by these videos, he is still teaching us after his passing. My sincerest thanks for sharing.

I think the best take was the second. Simply because over the years you see how SNT evolved, also as the rest of years of his life you can see his age taking a heavier toll.

My personal favorite is the one where he is in the green Tshirt in front of the mirror at his school. By far the most relaxed one in these videos. I tend to look for the level of softness and the mind moving the arms

If you want to develop internal power, in a relatively quick period of time, AND, have lightning fast Explosive Power: 1) Unlike this video... Only perform the "Three Prayers to Buddha" section, in Slow Motion (the section that is repeated, 3x in a row). All other movements, should be standard / fast / explosive. Most especially the Punches, Palms, etc. 2) Slow the 3 Prayers section down even slower... than shown here. It should take 30 seconds to go from the Chest, to full Extension... and 30 sec to go back to the chest. At this pace, movement speed will barely be Visible to the eye. It will require far more effort and cause more strain, which increased the development speeds. 3) After you complete the entire form... do not stop, and do not take any breaks... Repeat the entire form, three more times. This will get you the required Minimum time for Qigong development... which is typically ONE FULL HOUR, of Non-Stop form work. Do this every day... or at minimal.. every other day. It should take at least 3 months, before you start to notice the dramatic changes. 4) As you perform the Form... you want long, slow, inhales and exhales... that match the slow movement speeds, of the 3 Prayers Section. When performing fast / explosive movements.. use much quicker and more violent breaths, to match the explosive pace. Keep the mouth relaxed, and slightly opened... making a breath sound, that sounds like a very extended: "Hoe" Sound (your mouth should be slightly round, but still relaxed). You shouldnt be blowing air through tight lips, and through the teeth... like MMA / Sport breathing methods. Also, breath in through the nose, and exhale through the mouth... in most cases. Where the breath is very fast... such as chained punches... just do several quick partial exhales through the mouth... rather than trying to keep using in and out breaths. If you still need to breath in while doing chained punches.. then perform several partial breaths in through the nose, one after the other... until your lungs are completely full. When doing the most POWERFUL of strikes... exhale as much air as possible, all at one time. The constant slow breaths for the 3 Prayers section, is critical for developing superior Circulation channels in your tissues. This is part of the Qigong development. The Fast breaths for the quicker movements... are more for the proper precision timings, and can allow you to have far more Output Power potentials. 5) Start out, by doing the form, in front of a full length mirror. Make sure that all of your limbs are in the correct positions, and alignments, at all times. You may also wish to alternate so that you are standing sideways... so that you can see other alignment lines. Make sure that your wristbone, has a perfect straight line, in all vectors. After 2 to 3 months time, you may feel that you are so aware of your positions... that you no longer need to use the mirror. At that time... close your eyes for a while... and randomly open them.. to check on your alignments. If you have gone out of alignment too often... go back to using the mirror again. Alternate your eyes open/closed, until you can perform without any positional errors. Then you can do the form, without any mirrors from that point onwards. 6) Make sure your knees are bent so that your knees are directly over the top of you toes. If your knees are not deeply bent, and you do not remain at that depth the entire form... then you are not doing things correctly... and or have not developed the proper strength + tendon strength. 7) When doing slow motion training... you want to relax your entire body / muscles.. to the point where if you were any more relaxed.. that you would fall to the floor like a lump of Jello. You want Just enough muscle, to keep your body upright. This minimal amount of muscle forces... will cause 10x more strain on your Joints / Tendons, tissues, and bone structures. One of the main keys, is to develop super-tendons. Tendons that are very flexible, but also, much denser and stronger. This will give you a whole other level of "Strength", as well as a whole other level of Spring-Like abilities. These instructions are also the same, for performing Tai Chi forms. Realize that Wing Chun borrowed from the highest level arts technologies of its Era... and this is why Tai Chi Push Hands, is very Similar to Chi Sao. And why there is a slow motion part... in the first form of WC. 8) When you can perform the entire 1hr long set, without any fatigue / shaking at all... you might choose to tie a bottle of liquid to your wrists... for an added weight challenge. However, if can barely keep your arms up... and you start to raise your shoulders, and tighten your muscles to try to maintain a perfectly leveled line... then you should remove the bottle immediately... and try again some other time, when you are stronger, and more capable. 9) Try to practice when Its fairly Quiet. This will help in keeping your mind very focuses on every little sensation, and positional awareness. 10) Take in a good deal of Calcium.. using milk or almond milk... or maybe gummy supplements. Add in a daily gummy multi-vitamin. And eat fairly healthy, to get as many nutrients as possible into your system... for better and faster developments. Also, try to get a full 8 hrs of Deep Sleep in. Make sure the sleep is as restful as possible. As too many sounds while you are sleeping... can bring you up to a sleep state that is not deep enough for performing repairs. I think thats more than enough, to get people to a much higher level of potentials. Now its just up to you, to put in the required regular efforts.

Hi, I was doing my monthly study on this video and I wish to ask something: on the third part of the form, right after the bong sao is a tan sao. Why is the hands in this tan sao almost perpendicular to the navel. It seems really low. I always wanted to ask this but never had the courage kkkk cheers from Brasil as always!
@MindfulWingChun7 жыл бұрын
Its just so we get a bigger circular motion from the Bong To Tan so we cover a bigger area in the movement
@eddiechan90566 жыл бұрын
Well, Wing Chun is a close contact kung fu. Any big movement is not recommended. A proper tan hand is having the elbow right in front of the sternum and the level of your fingers is about the same level of your shoulder. That basically covers the "mui fa ng dim" (梅花五點) on each side.
@turboesther367 жыл бұрын
Is there any reason the wrist rotation (I believe it’s the fook sau) in the first several movements is only down twice with the left wrist but 3 times with the right? I could just be mistaken, or is that just how it’s supposed to be?
@MindfulWingChun7 жыл бұрын
it should be 3 times each side (traditionally) but if CST did only twice on one side then he probably wasnt counting right :)
@eddiechan90566 жыл бұрын
It should be 3 times as long as the form is presented.
@brendanbarrett84215 жыл бұрын
Fok Sau > Huen Sau > Wu Sau is traditionally expressed 3 times with each hand in the first section, but some schools have reduced it to two. Same with the punches at the end of the third section; some do three, some do five, others six. Some chamber one hand first, others both simultaneously. My least favorite part of the WC community is the infighting around lineage, and what is "proper". My grandfather hit me with a metaphor as a child that still sticks with me. "If I use an open crescent wrench to turn a nut, and you close it down to drive a nail, and both worked, who used it wrong?"
cheers, he was a pretty amazing human being with great knowledge and skiils...

that awkward moment when you realize after half year practicing 1 hour per day that you don't know the SNT. Sifu Nima can i know why is grandmaster Chu bending his thumb it seems a little bit like he is bending/contracting it in all moments but when flating the palm

Its to keep the thumb tucked in so in a real situation it doesnt get caught and so it won't break :)

@maximuslaurie51393 жыл бұрын
are you seriously asking
@MindfulWingChun2 жыл бұрын
Yes, there definitely is no pressing of the knees inwards in Chu Shong Tin's method. Reason being that 1. we want to keep the joints very relaxed and mobile and springy and 2. we focus forward from the knees (as opposed to inwards) so that the hip joins are actively aiming the knees to the apex of the triangle which would be the distance when the arm is fully extended out. Hope that makes sense?

@MindfulWingChun2 жыл бұрын
hahaha, You are clueless Antonio. Clueless!! But ignorance is bliss... I guess Ip MAn didnt have a clue when he coined this man "The King of Siu Nim Tao"?! And, not sure what lineage you practice if if your grandmaster is not Lok Yiu or Leung Sheung, and he trained with Ip MAn anytime between 1951 and 1957, then there is a great chance that this 'fake master' in the video taught him in Ip Man's class at some stage as he was the main teacher at Ip'm school in that time. Having said that, I sincerely wish you the best in your Wing Chun practice and hope it bring you peace, health and fulfillment. 🙏

The movement (18:06) is wrong. Fingers should not be pointing down. They will be broken easily by a kick. Movement (19:39) where elbow can be easily broken. That's why we need to sink the elbow.
@MindfulWingChun6 жыл бұрын
Eddie Chan hahaha, you do realize you are talking about the King Of Siu Nim Tao right? dont looks at externals my friend, its internal. have a look at his ability on all other videos to know why hes called the King of SNT by Ip Man :)
@eddiechan90566 жыл бұрын
Well, a Sifu should do the right thing regardless. There is another great grand master. If one is humble, one will learn even more good stuff. Think about this, even Sifu Tsui has internal power, the students wouldn't know but learn from the mistaken skills which are really basic. Right? Those students may become Sifu themselves. Then WC is no longer the right WC. If one would like to learn WC, one should take it serious.
@MindfulWingChun6 жыл бұрын
Eddie Chan and who is the one that defines what is 'the right thing'? CST was the main teacher at Ip Man's school for the first 14years. therefore he pretty much taught all the Ip man Students that that started after him how to practice SNT. so your grandmaster pr great grandmaster was probably taught by CST if he started training with Ip Man between 1950 and 1964!! what I'm saying is, you need to look beyond what you have been taught as sometimes the reasoning behind something you've been taught is merely made up by a teacher due to lack of understanding of the teacher...
