He almost physically and most definitely mentally/emotionally/psychologically hurt Blair. I would never date him again if I was her but then again, it’s a show. And I still love Chuck but this is something I’ll never forget. U should never mix booze with emotions bro.

i know im like yeeeaaars late on this, but i wanted to say something about this scene. did i want chuck and blair to end up together? absolutely yes. that is the way they built the storyline of the show, everything indicated that they loved each other deep down. all the boyfriends blair ever had did not stand a chance next to chuck because he was the only one she truly loved & vice versa w chuck and his girlfriends. did i think their relationship was an example of a healthy one? absolutely not. all the young girls watching this should know that if anyone ever treats you like chuck treated blair, dump his ass because he isnt worth it. no matter how much you think you can "save" someone, like this show implies, you cant. this is something that only happens on tv and cannot be applied to real life scenarios because real life is not like this. tv shows portray an ideal life, where a guy can sell his gf for a hotel and the girl and all the watchers will still be convinced that it is true love, me included.

But that doesn't even comes close to how much of a prick Chuck was. She says herself, being sold for a fucking hotel (and to the guy who tried to rape chuck's mother) fucked her up. Their relationship left her wrecked specially over and over again. Then he displayed completely abusive behaviour here, saying she belonged to him like an object and refused to let her go. That's why the other girl said it's similar to someone that abuses or rape someone when they're drunk. It doesn't matter, it's still abuse. Then in season 5 he proceeds to try to end her relationship with both Dan and Louis. If this isn't toxic, I don't know what it is. @sammyemmy4 Жыл бұрын
It wasn’t abusive. The writers of the episode reiterated as much. According to them, Blair wasn’t scared of Chuck, or afraid he would hurt her, because she knew he never would. She was afraid for him and his mental state. Chuck wasn’t trying to rape her, or hit her. His world was just falling apart and he always thought that Blair would be waiting in the wings for him (as she promised she would I might add), once she gained career success. Yes he was being downright possessive, but I attribute that to his mental state and the alcohol. He doesn’t actually think of Blair as something he owns. Not to mention two episodes later he saves her life and selflessly gives her up to Louis out of a desire for her to be happy. I’ll admit i stood by Chuck through a lot in this show, but THAT scene made me waver. If there is one thing I cannot condone it’s physical abuse. However time, future episodes and explanations from the creators helped me move past it. Remember it’s only a tv show. It’s fine to move on and forgive in the fictional sense but if this were real life I’d tell Blair to run for the hills.

I actually loved this scene. I’m a huge chuck and Blair fan and I think people need to realize this is fiction. No one would actually want a relationship like theirs but that’s the beauty of television is that you can enjoy a fantasy romance knowing that you would never want one like that in real life. I think people forget how flawed chuck and Blair are. They don’t need all this hate guys. It’s not real life!! Chuck is a very troubled character who was neglected by a father who called him weak. A father who did not respect women either. Making chuck have no women to look up to. Blair was the only girl he grew to respect in the beginning before he matured. He depended on her a lot so for a man with the severe issues like chuck has. It would be devastating for him to lose blair, especially at this time when his life and everything he believed was blowing up in flames. He definitely couldn’t bare losing her too, and being drunk he obviously did not handle the situation well and that was probably the wake up call he needed to sort his life out. Which he did. So chill and enjoy the writing of these two complex characters.
@juliag61266 жыл бұрын
You said yourself, it's fiction. But I think people being mad over it have the right to. Not everyone watches a show with the same purpose. Some don't take the stuff they watch seriously. Some do. Gossip Girl's audience is made by a large number of young teen girls. Them being fictional doesn't changes the fact the relationship is still toxic. Chuck and Blair only ended up together because fans wanted. Just because he never (luckily may I say, because she had to dodge in that scene) hurt her, there's still a thing called physiological abuse. Sure, Blair was far from perfect. People only cheer for them bc they're good looking and it's a TV show. No one would ever excuse his behaviour if it was real life. And I doubt anyone would want this as a role model of dream man to their daughters. Your past may be the reason to your actions, but it's never an excuse to act like a dick. If they had developed chuck well on season 4 and 5 I would said like...ok, he's grown. But it's obvious they only "changed" him so shippers could have an excuse to defend their endgame in season 6

Mostly I'm just glad the show devoted a good part of S6 to his redemption arc, so it's obvious this wouldn't ever happen again.

Is it weird that seeing Chuck all strong kinda makes me weak in the knees... xD

@JessiGabriela Except here. One of my good friends was actually in an abusive relationship and she identified Chair as being an abusive relationship. I trust her more than any Google site. Oh, and if you want to insult someone, try using the correct form of "you're."

Chuck was drunk and he behaved horribly towards Blair, but i've watched this scene many times, and I don't think he was abusive.

Only one word for that last scene. TRAGIC! Why are they making Chuck into a monster?

I think they've taken Chuck's 'bad boy' image a bit too far with this. How can Chuck and Blair be endgame if their relationship is riddled with anger, betrayal and now violence. Blair brings out the best in Chuck but only when it suits him to play nice. Blair has done some terrible things but never further than petty school girl jealousy. I adore Chuck & Blair, they are the main reason I watch Gossip Girl, but sometimes the person you love the most isn't who is best for you.

has anyone noticed the angle of the cameras in chuck's room? I think that gives a more obscure note to every scene with chuck form this episode ....he really is a bad ass

I think they are putting Chuck in his darkness like the worts one so after when he's gonna come back and fight for Blair as a intelligent man it's gonna be like the opposed of what we've seen and I think I'm gonna love it well all Chair fans will love it! I'm a Chair fan no matter what if they still love each other and I can see it in their eyes

To be fair, he could have been saying sorry to her getting kidnapped. They were talking about how she felt and if she was okay because of Thorpe. Because he never said "I'm sorry for losing my temper" or anything like that. but that doesnt change the fact that he still said "Well look who finally came to her senses" first when he saw her right after the incident.

He says "I'm so sorry" after he takes her hand and they're both looking down at the bandage on it. Interpret it how you will. Either way, he's apologized again, and more thoroughly, since then, so it's pretty much a moot point now.
