Man, Paul! I was looking for a tuto for this song and here I find you, years ago, all shy in your small music room! Look how far you went, that's the inspiring part of this video! :D

In my opinion this is the greatest Rock and Roll song of all time. I cant think of any that were as influential to the genre as this has been. You do it justice Mr. Davids, this is an accurate replication and as always your explanation is outstanding. Chuck Berry licks are essential to rock and roll. Either learn your Chuck Berry chops or "Do not pass Go, do not collect $200..."

Yes, spot on, which is why i bought your coarse. But still 40 year player, i still have trouble, but following your thoughts, i will give it a chance. I can play all Chucks stuff, this is the only one, i wanta get right. I’ve always gone half step down, but live, with other songs to play, not good.

'Here's a blues riff in B, watch me for the changes and try to keep up!' Love it. Always, I mean ALWAYS wanted to learn this but I've never felt 'ready' but I've been jamming up on my theory and watching this video, something seems to have clicked! Getting new guitar tomorrow so will be practising. Awesome.

Thanks Mate! ;) I remembered that I wanted to play this song 10 years ago but I was not good enough at the time, so I just remembered to check it out again, and between a lot of choices I knew yours would be the right choice. Old But Gold! Cheers!

I find that the notes, bends, and hammer on's are not too difficult to play, not even to play them pretty fast. What is hard is to lock the notes precisely into the rhythm. Anyone one got any ideas of the best way to get there - is it just a case of repeating it over and over against the music, and it will eventually come? or do you need to work with a metronome to get into the groove first of all.

Still working on it, and it's coming. I'm not using backing tracks at the end - I find it's just too hard to work out where exactly the guitar riff should fit, so I'm just repeatedly playing along with Paul at the start of of the video. (I wish there was a longer count- in!). The trick seems to be to tap your foot to try to lock into that really fast beat, then the notes you're playing start locking into the groove.
@Snoosemoose3 жыл бұрын
To answer my own original question - seems you should just play along with Paul a handful of times a day, and eventually after some days, weeks, or even months, (depending on your skill level) it will eventually start to come good all by itself. Repetition is the key.

I think I've finally grasped the count-in, correct me if I'm wrong. The first two clicks are whole bars (4 beats). Then it counts in quarter-notes (crotchets) 1, 2, 3. But, the first note played on the guitar comes in not on the 3rd beat, but an eighth-note after. So, basically half way between beat 3 and beat 4 of the first bar. The next two notes on the guitar are beats 4 and 4 and a half of the first bar. That's why there's a slight (1/8 tone) delay between the last click on the count-in and then first note played on the guitar.)
