@redfox7490 You know, it's pretty petty to only see the bad in someone when they make a few mistakes, and overlook all the great things they did in their life entirely. We're all human beings, and we make mistakes. Stop being so vindictive and shunning people constantly, when, I guarantee you've done something just as bad, or maybe even worse at some point in your life. @@Brother_Dre1900 You need to hear the hundreds of rock n roll and rockabilly songs from the 1950's. Berry was mainly rockabilly and he really wasn't special and he outright stole songs from black pianist Johnnie Johnson. Johnson sued but eventually the Statute of Limitations took effect and the lawsuit had to be dropped. For example, does "Roll Over Beethoven" sound like a piano song or a guitar song? I play guitar and to me both "Roll Over Beethoven" AND "Can't Catch Me" sound like a piano songs, and the same for other supposed Chuck Berry songs. Why rockabilly people like Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and a couple of others were exalted in the public eye and someone like Johnny Burnette wasn't doesn't seem to be about talent and merit but about money and whoever is willing to play along with the record companies.

1:10 "Here come old flat-top" was one lyric John Lennon couldn't resist swiping for the Beatles' "Come Together." Melodically, he basically lifted this song; just slowed it way down, added a killer bass line, and worked some studio magic on it. But when it comes to songwriting, that is absolutely standard. You take a piece of something you like, and make it your own.

John Lennons first edition of this song sounded much more like this song by Chuck Berry. As a matter of fact it got changed due to a warning from both Paul McCartney and their record producer that the original was a flat out rip off. (see kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHKtZoChesiIj8k) So they changed it and makes the chorus break up into a minor chord before hitting the sub-dominant chord in an otherwise traditional round of chords.

@@TheWorldTeacherNo even Elvis didn’t say he was the king. Sorry you are mislead. Rock and Roll is black music which Elvis learned….from black people… and was able to popularize to white people because he was white. They made a movie about this please watch it.

Black folks took country music and made it music you can't help but dance to even if you are sitting in a chair. That gospel passion and yes the drums, not racist to say. Those guys kicked in the door Elvis, Buddy Holly, Stones, Beatles, Clapton, Zep ran through. Without black artists Stevie Ray Vaughn might have played Roy Rogers songs. That is how big a legacy these artists left us.
