"You singers are spineless, as you sing your senseless songs to the mindless" ~ Chuck D I am taking that line out of context but the words apply to the mindless lyrics and imagery in videos when it comes to these new mainstream Rap acts. Where are the lyrics that strengthen and empower brothas and sistas to stand up and push back against the darkness?! Nothing but silence. It's gone on too long, even while we were getting disrespected, assaulted, shot in the street, abducted and found hung in public.

It’s not lower. It’s us. You heard “Diamonds” but Cole and Gangstar??? I love gang star. But it’s obvious. Cole murdered it. By adopting all of the older generation talent into his own voice. We got hella rappers now that drop illmatic type stuff every few years. Just check out krit wuz here, more about nothing, section 80, Kendrick Lamar LP, minstrel show by little brother. Hell its a lot. The problem is us. We always talk about mumble rap, but when we bring up FIRE mixtapes and albums, it gets ignored.

Dam Chuck D took me back to the wild ass skating ring in Roosevelt Long Island on Nassau Road . I had a cousin who lives in Roosevelt and he took me and my younger brother one night to this Roller skating ring which was notorious for them Roosevelt Velt Villians and other goons from other parts of Long Island to rob men and women. This skating ring also held alot of live performances for the first generation of rappers like Grandmaster Flash and Furious Five Dougie Fresh Treacherous Three Spoonie G Cold Crush Fearless Four Jazzy 5 and other iconic acts came to Long Island to perform at this skating rink. This skating rink didn't last long maybe because it was always violence being Roosevelt Long Island where the great Chuck D was from has always been a dangerous grimy hood when it comes to Long Island just like Rakims hometown Wyndance Long Island which is also grimy and dangerous like Roosevelt. Both hoods were on that grimmy Brooklyn robbing and cutthroat bullshit. But when this rink closed years later Long Island had Laces skating rink which was in New Hyde Park which is a Lilly White Neighbohood but it was on the border of Nassau County Long Island and Queens. This rink became a serious hangout spot for the B Boys and for those that love Hip Hop because they certain nights when they played Hip Hop. One night I seen Eric Sermon the Strong Island icon and the Queen's icon Jam Master J in the parking lot kicking it while sitting in their fly ass big body Benz which Sermon was in while Jam Master J was in a big 7 series BMW. But Chuck D gave me goosebumps when he mentioned the notorious skating ring in Roosevelt Long Island which is the home of Doctor J Eddie Murphy and the Iconic Public Enemy.

The silent party could work well in an Artist / DJ's favor because when you wear headphones, you hear every detail in the beat. Versus if the song is being played out loud, you'll have everybody making a whole bunch of noise and the only thing that you really hear is the bass and maybe some words if it's not an instrumental. Then it's set up so that you can put on another pair of headphones and hear another beat from a separate DJ. From a DJ's perspective, it'll give you some insight on how many people are really feeling your shit and how many people aren't really feeling it. It would be your job to go harder and harder. Say if I'm a DJ and my color is blue, I'm going harder for every blue set that I see until I have everybody in the room wearing a set of blue headphones. It's strategic and could be very effective if it's finessed right.

CHUCK D WON OF MY FAVORITES!! HE BEING A LITTLE IRRESPONSIBLE/ ART IS A FORM A EXPRESSION BUT WE AS BLACK PEOPLE HAVE LEARNED HOW TO BE UNRIGHTEOUSLY EXPRESSIVE AND OVER THE TOP WIT IT!! I AM PROUD PRO-FATHER AND INNERSTAND HOW MIGHTY IT IS TO LEAD PEOPLE IN MY VILLAGE AS WELL AS PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF IT - TO GIVE A GREEN LIGHT TO ANYONE WHO'S NOT FIT TO LEAD IS PROBLEMATIC/ HIP/HOP IS DESCENDING BECAUSE WE[I'M NOT INCLUDED]HAVE NOT RAISED THE GENERATIONS AFTER THE GOLDEN ERA OR OUR DOPE START OF HIP/HOP TO REALLY APPRECIATE IT !! IT USE TO BE A M.J.B DO IT TO NOW IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMINS/ TO SAY HIP/HOP IS MUMBLE RAP IS TYRANNY/ DISRESPECT/ AND A DEFINITE SLIGHT TO ALL THOSE WHO LITERALLY PUT THEIR SWEAT/ TEARS /BLOOD/ BODY/MIND/SOUL PLUS IN2 THIS!!! THESE KIDS CAN'T LEAD[US] OR THEMSELVES FOR THAT MATTER BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT BEING SHOWN HOW TO/ IT'S TIME TO MAKE IT TUFFER/ SET THAT BAR NICE / GET BACK ON........ TLMS LET'S GOOOOOOO!!!?!!

Art is subjective but everyone agrees the best music came out of the 70s. No argument. In the same vein, the hiphop from the 80s through mid 90s had a certain soul to it that music today doesnt have. And its not their fault. The world they're growing up in has little soul.
