You're right. When the curtains were used the programmer would sometimes close the side curtains during Helen's solos. However, he still had to program the characters to move because the same code is used for the 1-stage and 2-stage.

when this show was programmed at CEC Headquarters, the programmer just made it that way. however, if you look inside the curtains when something like this happens, chuck e and pasqually are still moving as if the curtains never closed.
