HUGE Dr. Who fan here! (I have a Tardis painted on my linen closet!) This has been one of my most favorite Q&A's ever! These girls are the sweetest, cutest, most fun little things, it's just contagious! I never put it together that Karen was in Guardians of the Galaxy as Nebula! If you can't ask an ORIGINAL question, stay in your seat! (Other questions in the same category include: "What was it like kissing your co-star? In what ways are you like your character? Can you tell us some stories about practical jokes on the set? Who is/was your favorite co-star? What was the audition process like?, etc.)

I mean, I know it's possible to regenerate as the opposite gender, but The Doctor has been male for 13 consecutive regeneration cycles so far. Even though a lot of people think a female Doctor would be brilliant, I think the risk to the fan base as a whole is too great to consider that a viable option any time soon. Maybe after Jenna leaves (because let's face it, no companion ever lasts forever), they can start thinking about it. Might be easier to breach the subject if The Doctor is traveling alone at the time, instead of with a female he was sort-of-almost-not-really in a relationship with.

+Chuck Kahn True. I do love Missy. I just think it would go a lot smoother if he were alone at the time is all, since he's been male in the viewer's eyes for over 50 years all together. I'm not opposed to the idea, but they'd have to be very careful of how they do it. The Doctor's said a few times that other Time Lords had switched genders while regenerating, but that he just never saw the need to. Perhaps Clara's departure will give him a reason? Suppose we'll see! EDIT: A ginger female would be best, since he's always wanted to be ginger.

+Paradox Productions "Canon" should never be a reason to avoid trying something new. Hell, it's not even a new idea. Doctor Who's creator suggested casting a female Doctor back in the eighties. Besides, Doctor Who's canon has always been a total trainwreck, anyway. The three falls of Atlantis, the Second Doctor's Season 6b, the UNIT dating controversy, the multiple Dalek origin stories, the Morbius Doctors, the genealogy of the Cybermen, Looms, the fate of Ace, etc. There's a reason many fans insist that Doctor Who doesn't have a canon.
