I really liked him as Superman. It's like you think you've seen in before but he's a whole different type of superman. Like he is what superman would look like if he were real. Hard to explain. He was a great superman though. I wish he can come back. Probably won't though. Best superman next to the original yet. Henry doesn't really do it for me.

Exactly! Brandon Routh was brilliant as Superman. Henry Cavill may have more depth as an actor, but he doesn't look the part. Reeve was the epitomy of Clark Kent. Routh was Reeve's heir. Cavill is the 'new' Hollywood bullshit re-boot Superman. They don't even use the John Williams score anymore. Superman died after Superman Returns. Routh was the last great character to play the role. But he won't come back. Hollywood sealed Routh's fate, placed an English guy who is 3 inches smaller in the role, but that doesn't matter. It's a new hard edged superman, with lots of shitty CGi to boot.

+SmoothFlow Boxing 2 We can't really say if Cavil has more depth than Routh; Routh barely had any lines in his own movie. He had to work with the crap he was given. I agree that he was Reeve's heir. His Clark emotes the kind-hearted, sweet nature like Reeve's, whereas with Cavill..all you got from him was "whoa, Superman cosplayer with classes".

He was 26 years old, young and handsome. Is too bad that his Superman movie failed. Today he's 40 years old and has not the career he'd have if the movie was a success. But it was not his fault the movie failed. They've made the movie boring. I remember going to the theater and almost falling sleep. I was 25 at the time.

It's not easy to follow up to Christopher Reeves but Brandon did fantastic, the voice, facial expressions and everything was just great. It would be awful if they would replace him he can easily grow into the part.

that's not the reason, he still looks the same age. The real reason they didn't use him again is because they're doing a REBOOT now, just as they wouldn't do Batman Begins with any of the previous Batman actors. Besides, Brandon is supposed to be the Christopher Reeve type, that's why he was chosen, he resembled him, even his voice resembled Christoher's. The entire SR was in the style of the first and second movies with Reeve.

Shonaripa is right, they are doing a reboot of the Superman not because of his age but they wanted a clean slate. To start over. It has nothing to do with age, the very first superman was a tv show "The adventure of Superman". George Reeves(not to be confused with Christopher Reeves) was in his early thirties.

Lol every time I get bogged down about 'things not happening when I want them to'...I remind myself about how Routh beat Cavill to get the title role in Superman Returns! The film was a little bit under 'alright' but it's watchable (though some would call it an outright disaster). Man of Steel on the other hand is my go to film when I want to laze out but still feel like I've achieved something! Lol I love that film!! And its awesome how Cavill got the right deal at the right time and with a great director! Plus they're finally moving towards the JL which means Supes (Cavill) is gonna be around for a while to come :) I'm glad that Routh is doing other cool things now (cos he looks like a really neat guy!) but I also THANK GOD that Cavill didn't get cast before.

See..I actually dislike Man of Steel! I hated Kate Bosworth's Lois Lane, but Amy Addams' Lois was downright intolerable! Didn't care much for the script either. There are certain scenes I like, and it mostly has to do with Cavill's looks than the actual material. Yikes.
