Chucky: 3rd Strongest Killer? | Dead by Daylight

Chucky is an incredibly fun and compelling character, but don't let that distract you from the fact that his power is absolutely nuts; stealth, mobility and a really solid anti-loop tool that can outplay even the strongest pallets in the game. Some people have already figured out methods to make his Slice & Dice able to flick more than normal, and it's just a matter of time before people master it. The Spirit might have shorter cooldowns but Chucky's reliability and multi-purpose kit might honestly make him even stronger than her.

I think we'll see some fatigue similar to Wesker. Everyone loves him and it's hard to be upset because he's so iconic, his voicelines are great, and he takes some skill to use properly. So maybe after a month we'll see people complain cause it's the 23rd one you've gone against. But that's a good thing. The more Killers that release that are genuinely just made we'll in both gameplay and style expands that roster of enjoyable Killers for both sides.

Im pretty sure Chucky can’t crawl if u use Any Means Necessary. So if u use level 1 of that perk u can stall even longer on the pallet so he can’t crawl under.

I honestly think the biggest difference for Chucky being top 3 is simply because of how _easy_ he is to use and how little punishment he gets for missing (alongside the most deceptively large hitbox ever). His "Hug tech" isn't as complicated to pull off (or as susceptible to weird collision) or as punishing as Blight's on a miss, Scamper into Slice'n Dice invalidates basically any pallet loop (Scott made a whole video on that). Due to ease of use alone I'd say he's roughly on par with Blight. The only reason why he's not better than Blight & Nurse is because he's 110% and can't cross the entire map in one dash or entirely bypass floors, walls & ceilings. Otherwise he's the only Killer easily able to make Survivors run into him without moving in the right tiles and is horribly wonky to blind. Him being 110% is more than compensated by him being able to hug walls like Survivors, Slice'n Dice is a decent map mobility tool even with it's cooldown out of chase (makes him much faster than a 115% Killer overall when patrolling).

i think he is stronger than Nurse and blight. Bight and Nurse are not undetectable. they don't get opening hits as easy as chucky does. M1 blight is also a lot easier to loop then Chucky due to his size. Chucky's scamber dominates every pallet loop with ease. Slice & Dice is stronger and more versatile then Blight charge at loops. If survivor leave loops, it is excellent tool to hit people between loops. It is not as good as blight for counter shift-w play but it is serviceable enough that it still does job just as well as blight.

What I love the most about Chucky is how little shits they gave in designing him. The devs couldn’t make him play by the same design rules so they just did away with them! The third person, the challenging flashlight angles, the weird animations! Everything about him is just ridiculous by dead by daylight’s standards and that’s a good thing! @@1m073zh Yet the nurse takes a little skill. He has too many things Basekit: Stealth, Wesker like (improved) dash, hard to see and also an improved field of view. There is just no fun to be beaten by a killer you can hardly see. If it was a taller one with no stealth mechanic, it would be a totally different story. But the survivor has the strength of fov taken away, pallets are weaker and Chucky is better at hiding. Because of his power he can disable his red light. He has the strongest advantages of killer and survivor But maybe the devs Can archive some good balancing for him.

Chucky is small, gets the third person perspective, and can strike from concealment. He's basically Pig, if Pig didn't suck ass. (carried entirely by the head-bomb gimmick) It's funny how the M1/110 killer with a hillbilly dash is so dangerous, largely due to subverting and inverting the usual advantages/disadvantages Survivors get over the Killer via perspective and size.

Chucky basically turns the Survivor's chase advantage (3rd person and small model) against them, AND he counters holding W/comp dropping. Yeah, he's easily top 3, and easily #2 best designed Killer.

Chucky feels like a Blight that attacks on the first rush, has almost no fatigue, and is more forgiving. Which is so impossible to counter (when played well) in so many areas of maps it's kind of insane. Even if you get him to miss the "rush", he's still right next to you and can just m1 since he has very little miss cooldown on his power. I think if he goes live as is, he'll be very fun to play as, and brutal to play against.

Bhvr went in the right direction with Chucky. They should make stronger killers, especially with how wide the skill gap is becoming in this game. There’s no point in locking down a license and putting hard work into developing a character, only for no one to want to use them because how weak they are.

Perhaps, however there must be a balance to aim for since we all know what happens when licensed content (which are not unlockable with shards, only with real money or Cells which are bought) has things that are above the rest: people scream "PTW! Cancel this game". It's the whole reason why Mettle of Man was nerfed into uselessness: people were pissed that a busted perk was paywalled.

I think Chucky might be stronger than blight, after noticing how different players notice and play with different strong points of the character, if it goes live as it is, is just a matter of time before some players master all his tricks and discover some new ones, it feel as he has so much hidden potential (Lynxi jumping threw a window from a hill is a good example of the potential tricks Chucky can do)

The whole point is that they gave survivors extra 4 blades in HP pool (extra 2 to injure and extra 2 to down + extra 2 for endurance), in compensation. If they were to release trickster WITHOUT the prominent main event, extra 4/6 blades per chase would be HORRIBLE, even if he is slightly “faster”. But yes, his add-ons can use some creative reworks.

When 5 seconds of main event finishes, he gets free stun similar to legion's feral frenzy. He would be horrible bad with 8 knives to injury and faster decay. He needs injury people now in his volleys or you heal his entire power. He needs main event to be relevant in his new version.

Great video as usual Otz! I didn’t get to play the PTB but after a couple of days playing this week, Chucky is a fun challenge as a survivor. It’s fun to try and bait his charge power and is very satisfying when done successfully . A funny thing I’ve noticed is that when he’s in stealth mode is that I’ve never been looking for crows moving more than ever until now due to his height lol. Pallet looping is definitely harder but I’m sure it’ll get easier. I’d say the main negative with him is that he’s too fun to play, which isn’t completely bad obviously but he’s so multifunctional that I feel he’ll be a lot of people’s mains for quite some time due to the variety of play styles you can adopt. Hopefully it doesn’t make some killers more obsolete than they already are.

As a aeternum player i'd just like to tell that the part of showmatch you are showing wasnt really representative of the strengh of the killer We played fairly bad, and he had a 4 gen bottom with no pallet, only shack and an ormond gym. An Oni or wesker could easily have got the same result in this situation. And calamity constantly outted, with 6/7 stages average i believe, i think its more likely the result this killer should get. The thing that makes him super strong is simply the fact no pallets are safe, if you drop it too early he can simply ignore it as through it never exited. And even if you stun him he can just catch up. They gotta reduce the speed of pallet vaulting, but another thing that makes him super strong is how easily he can navigate around objects cause of his uncapped turn rate in Slice’nDice, example: you can slide along an object one way and immediately turn the other way if a survivor vaults to guarantee a down regardless due to his speed if the survivor waits too long, cap that a bit and slightly increase the duration of the dash to compensate (also cause some pallets are barely out of reach even with max duration so some maps cannot have chained pallets and this would make him 100% more mobile and less map dependent.)

Personally, I don’t think top tier killers shouldn’t be easy to use/learn. That’s the one thing that’s stopping everyone from the game from playing them. I think Chucky is definitely the 3rd strongest killer in the game that is a totally fair assessment as it stands now, but falls just short of the "Trickster" in second place in my opinion as his new buff on the PTB is currently absolutely freaking insane. Not having to touch a locker the entire game and no buffer recoil on the knifes is going to change the game if it hits live servers the way it is currently.

I think making a tiny killer was a bad idea. I didn't want Chucky to be in the game because he would just be so small that it would be hard to see him. And with the Hidey-Ho mode, it's even harder to see him. I recommend watching one of Kyto or Spooky Loopz's (I think there are a few others too) videos when they played with a tiny Ghostface and tiny Michael Myers! It was very hard to run loops just because they can't see him. Don't get me wrong, Chucky looks like he would be fun to play! But I'm really not looking forward to playing against him.

Nurse would need a full rework and Blight has several addons that over perform so hard that he might as well have no counter at that point. Iri tag, speed, alch ring, etc are all ridiculously good and can combo with each other.

As someone who hasn't played against Chucky as much and hasn't gotten the Chucky DLC yet. What exactly is the downside of his power? Like Spirit is unable to see survivors when Phasing, Nurse has a fatigue after her blinks, Blight stops and injects himself with a serum after charging, Wesker has a fairly long animation when missing with his dashes. What's the downside of Chucky's power?

honestly, after Spirit got her add-ons nerfed, I think the current ranking (in the hands of a dedicated main that learns their techs and such) looks like this: 1: Nurse 2: Blight 3: Chucky 4: Artist 5: Spirit

I think the missed special attack needs a little bit more of a cooldown. It feels like you win regardless if you hit or miss.

On top of all his other strong powers, I feel like one of his strongest traits is just his third person camera, regardless of whether or not survivors can see your footsteps. We're already seeing just how much mind gaming that Chucky can do and with less guess work, it gives him information to make his already strong power even more consistent. Plus 3P feels like the main reason he's so hard to blind, like how are you meant to reliably tell where his camera is?

I'm so confused by this video. Chucky might be the third strongest killer in the game and it feels like that is being portrayed as a bad thing. I would rather a good killer be released and they be kind of strong compared to something like 3genMerchant or The Singularity. And speaking of the Singularity I'm going to believe people saying Chucky is top tier just as much as I believed people saying The Singularity was A tier possibly S tier when he was in the PTB because he got buffed after he came out and is one of the worst killers in the game. Killers in the PTB always seem way stronger than they are.

There should probably be more of a drawback if he misses his lunge/dash. That's really forgiving, and it seems like you can even just use it to help close the distance even if you know you won't hit.

I dunno if I'd consider him third. He's definitely close, but his mobility and map presence isn't nearly as good as Spirit or Artist. 110 base move speed on a melee killer just really adds up over the course of a match if survivors spread out. It's also almost certain his anti-loop will be nerfed before going live (I mean, Xenomorph's was slightly, and it was significantly weaker than Chucky's). And survivors generally take longer to learn proper counterplay than the PTB allows. I also think Otz's Plague ranking is slightly inflated by him being like, a comp-level Plague player. If he had that much killer-specific knowledge and experience with Artist or even Huntress, he might reconsider. (Obviously Otz isn't terrible with most killers, but his Plague is particularly strong.)

I completely agree, chucky is either the 3rd or 4th best killer, as new tech is found he may even beat blight, I’m a consistent irri 1 killer with a very decent mmr and chucky is still broken, you can just aim the slice n’ dice so you slide along the loop and hit people around the loop, it’s cucked

I’d even be willing to go out and say Chucky could threaten Nurse and Blight for the 1-2 spot. He feels like a mix between the two in some ways. He can negate pallets + windows, plus also has a good dash attack. The cooldown is quick and add-ons are good. His power is good for mobility and lethality. Not to mention his size is a HUGE perk. He synergizes well with most perks in the game. What’s the disadvantage? I’m not saying he’s better as a matter of fact. But I think he’s the closest we’ve had to a nurse/blight killer in a LONG time.

I’ve yet to see anyone comment on his possible weaknesses and the survivor standpoint until this video; the fact that the pro match boiled down to “unless there are tiles that provide a 90 degree turn escape, there’s nothing you can do” is VERY concerning, I won’t be surprised when everyone’s happy tune on Chucky heel turns when this hits official release
