Not just the actors. Most of the crew have been with the series since they joined several movies ago, some since the beginning. It's a real testiment to how phenominal Mancini is as a director to make such a positive experience in an entire film franchise that it garners such dedication, support, and loyalty from an entire cast and crew to go on through seven movies and multiple seasons of a tv show like this.

The scene where Jake tells Chucky that his dad would have accepted him if he’d had the chance means so, so much to me. You never see that in any media! There’s only accepting or not accepting, good parent or evil parent. I feel like it’s important not only to show kids (and people in general) that people can change to accept the ones they love, but a child who had been hurt still having the confidence to say their father WOULD have come around. I almost cried when I watched that scene the first time; I’m so glad Don Mancini included it ❤️
@iusethisnameformygoogleacc10132 жыл бұрын
TBH, I'm kind of torn on how to feel about that. It's nice to see an alternative to the flat binary we often see, but "The parents eventually coming around / meeting a middle point with their kid" is an extremely common plotline (more common than that binary in raw numbers) and isn't really as healthy a message as it seems you think. "Don't worry, your parents will come around if you give them the chance" is a very hopeful and uplifting moral, and it is the exact wrong advice for millions of people who subject themselves to years of pain and abuse holding out hope that they'll change. Cutting your parents out of your life is already an incredibly difficult decision you're already inclined to put off, and just about everything in our society is constructed to make 'giving your dad another chance' or "he'll come around, you'll see!" seem like the only options. But literally tens of thousands of those kids who are holding out hope of their parents changing one day were taken out of highschool to be sent to slave labour camps out in the woods in Utah. Where most suffered extreme physical abuse and a significant plurality were raped. And those aren't even the particularly extreme stories.

My personal headcanon is that while Charles clearly takes pleasure in killing, it's mostly skin deep and just what he does to get a momentary burst in dopamine. So when he saw Nika's mother and actually FELT something other than bloodlust, he probably wanted her all to himself. I think that might be the reason why despite being so cool and nonchalant for the most part, he acted very fidgety and awkward towards her, as if he finally didn't need to hide behind a persona around her. Almost like how Tiffany became obsessed with Nika, Charles became obsessed with Nika's mother

I was so pissed when they discontinued this story for that awful remake with Mark Hamil, Cult ended at such an amazing note that it physically hurt when I wouldn't be able to see what happened next. It's only thanks to this recount that I learned that this amazing story had a continuation, and I cannot thank you enough James for bringing it to my attention. Bought the Blu Ray last week, cried in horror at Nika's ending, and loved the show so much.

Same here dude. I like Mark Hamill, but when you make Chucky an AI, it just removes all the charm of the originals. And the show is so damn good.

God I’m SO glad I’m not the only one who feels really bad for Nica. Even more so than usual. It’s par for the course for Chucky’s targets to get the short end of the stick and suffer, that’s expected of this series, but it really feels like Nica particularly is getting the brunt of it, and her situation is so hopeless that it’s crossed a point of being campy horror, and now her story feels… cruel. Really cruel. I hope to GOD that she manages to get away, get revenge, or get even a *hint* of a comeback, but it really feels like there’s no escape for her. It feels strange feeling genuine remorse for a character in the Chucky franchise, but Nica’s ending in Season 1 really is wayyyy too far over the line. It feels more befitting of the end of a movie like Texas Chainsaw, Wrong Turn or The Descent. So glad I wasn’t the only one who felt that way!

For some reason it's really funny to me when Chucky says "genderfluid" when talking about Glen/Glenda because that implies Glen probably figured out their gender and came out to their parents and Chucky either did research on it or just said "cool" and accepted it was a thing in a sort of blind support of his child.

Man I just feel really bad for Nica. She didn't deserve everything she's been put through by Chucky. First her whole family was killed by the doll and she was ruled as clinically insane, then she got molested and manipulated by that asshole in Cult, then she got possessed by Chucky and used as a puppet, and to top the whole fucking thing off, she got dismembered by a crazy Tiffany? That was the only bit of the Chucky series that made me genuinely sick, and it wasn't even Chucky who did it. Idk, its just the idea of all your limbs being removed, but you're forced to remain alive, makes me feel sick inside. Other than that, loved the series and the kill count! After a few days of thinking, I believe that it's only logical for Jennifer's Charakter, Tiffany, to do what she did. She is a Killer just like Chucky, but way more child like. It's all like a game for her, that's why she likes to seed confusion and enjoys the pain that comes with that. Charles and her have a really abusive relationship, but everything they do to each other doesn't have consequences on a bigger scale. So it's only natural for her to hurt Nica like this (physical and psychological), not considering that this could have consequences for their relationship. She didn't want her to leave her (like her mom and chucky did), so she took that ability away from her. So even though this scene was brutal it made sense for Tiffany to do this, making even more clear that she is a brutal psychopath. Not just killing and hurting others to please Chucky, but killing and hurting others, because she enjoys it as well.
@KaishaLouise2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I feel like the best way to describe Tiff is as a Murder Housewife. We can get too caught up on her more fun and loveable housewife-y side (that's the side of her that's more sweet and funny and just wants to have a nice comfortable life with a spouse and her kids and to do this together with Chucky) that we forget she can be absolutely brutal in and of herself (that's the murder part lmao)
