Here’s a small tip about the Ruins of Ark Polaris. Climbing up the inkable walls is always faster than taking the inkrails. Use that to your advantage to achieve the quota sooner. Edit: And yes, despite the walls being faster, inkrails are much safer.

The Ruins of Ark Polaris is probably my favorite Salmon Run map for lore reasons, you have all these spaceships in the background, and I’m pretty sure that it’s the only Salmon Run map that has legitimate English in it and not the Splatoon language.

If i remember correctly, ark polaris is a failed spaceship humans used at a point in time, with the whole arena basically being a rocket test site. The wholes in low tide are similar to that of multiple rocket launches. Another theory is that ark polaris never went used because humans went extinct before they could use it. Maybe it was just a regular old launch site which has been run down due to time and water levels rising

Some extra tips and other things to mention about salmon run: 1. when you’re dead you can still carry an egg with you and out of catcher hands. 2. The longer range attacking weapons the more you’re prioritize boss killing and revival duty as you are far away from the action. 3. Canceling boss specials is your top priority like a drizzler’s inkstorm or destroying a stinger. Remember that team wipes are the more common way to fail your job so keep the deadly boys away or things will get way too chaotic. 4. There are special versions of weapons that can be in a map rotation that drastically changes the way the weapon works, often in a VERY destructive manner and if they don’t pop up in the let’s play, I shall be naming them and their roles at a later date.

Knowing how bosses target players is probably one of the most important things to know. Maws and Steel eels target the closest player at their spawn and Maw's reset the target each time they attack. Scrappers attack the last person who shot them, etc. Each boss has their own targeting system. If you know you aren't the steel eels' target, it's easy to jump them without being curled around on.

To my knowledge e-liter is capable of nearly/fully killing a maws with just one charged shot, but you’re just better off tossing a bomb And if you get on one of the ramps on the side of Polaris’s spawn point, you can see that the egg basket is tilted slightly off by a few degrees, and I hate it

I just wanna say for Salmon Run Drizzlers are a high priority target for me especially when you get to high Profreshional they interfere with swimming and soften you up for regular salmonids and if more than one's rain overlaps it can be deadly however a useful tip is that Drizzlers target players so if you stand next to one they'll target you and you can aim it's shot away from the basket area.

Something that didn't get brought up about Ark Polaris : the signs saying "CAUTION Active Bear Area - Bear in area Travel with caution." They seem to have a connection to Mr. Grizz (he's the only bear in game and Ark Polaris only appear in Salmon Run), but more importantly they're in plain English! No other text in game (outside of the interface and dialog boxes) is in any human language. Edit : example at 26:09 left side of the screen

Some more tips for Salmon Run! -Painting walls before a wave begins is just as important as painting the floor -You can still ride on the rails while splatted -If everyone has been splatted, you wont actually lose while a Splat Bomb is out. So throwing a bomb towards a down teammate before you get splatted yourself could save a game! -Blasters and Splatlings are great against Stingers. If you're using a blaster or splatling, prioritize going after Stingers. -Most Rollers are pretty bad against Stingers. So if a teammate is using a Roller, go after Stingers so they don't have to. Another tip is that if flyfish keep spawning (as they do...), taking out one side with a bomb to weaken it is good to reduce the number of missiles but prevent others from spawning so you can focus on more lucrative bosses

More Salmon Run today, by the looks of it. That description had me intruigued. So... how many times has Emile died by falling off something/mising a jump? It's got to be over a dozen at this point, right? I wonder if there's anyone who's bothered to keep track of that. Interesting concept for level. If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time that a regular single-player level uses this spoke-like level design. Neat. "Marie, you ain't the boss of me." I mean, she technically is. It's not like there is anyone else in the Squidbeak Splatoon around right now to take authority. It's really just her. That death from the octocopters was a thing of beauty.' You know, I thought this level would be over after the branching paths. But no, it just keeps going. Even a large secret area as well. Double neat. What's inside box number 1? EGG. What about box number 2? EGG. ...Number 3...? EGGEGGEGGEGGEGGEGG It's the return of the ugly shirt! It appears that Emile is trying to blend in with the Salmonids by dressing like he just crawled his war off the sea floor... even though inklings can't swim. Honsetly, Ark Polaris is a pretty cool name for a space station. And of course he makes a "Metropolitan Mutants of Ark" reference. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Actually I believe that the "Inklings/Octolings die in rain" thing is still in debate as we know they do drink stuff at minimum we know that from the meal tickets offering smoothies and they take showers (though that one maybe a Japanese to English mis localization). My theory is that it is based on a kind of osmosis where a little bit of water over time won't harm them but a lot of water suddenly would harm them so a light drizzle won't hurt but a downpour definitely would.

Something I feel is worth amending is Main Power Up's effect on Octobrush, as there's actually two bonuses: The fatter ink trail like you mentioned before, and the increased movement speed while pushing the brush around Interestingly, the game only brings up the increased speed, Inkipedia brings up both effects though

I hit Profresh 400 the other day and I am very proud of that. When it comes to the Profresh ranks, they reset back to the nearest hundred after each shift rotation, so if you have every intention to making it up to a high Profresh rank from your low af rank, start with Profresh in general, then Profresh 100, 200, 300 and then the final checkpoint of Profresh 400. After that, no matter how high up you go, you go back down to Profresh 400 after every rotation. From Profresh 600, you get to experience Hazard Level MAX!! shifts, so do not let your guard down when these happen. It's a long, hard road, but it does get better. Also it's custom to Squid Party (Sea Party?) after every successful shift and/or wave, especially after a tough one. Even if it is hopping in place if you're dead by the time the jingle plays. I've gone as far as the Sting Rave on my last shift. :P

Ah, The Experimentorium, one of the few stages that gives the player multiple routes to take, and it's all up to preference on what you wanna tackle first. I'm glad that this "different way to play the same map" design got used in the DLC, but that's for another time.

19:58 In lower levels maybe, but beyond profreshional 100, you actually want to keep Flyfish crippled, funnily enough. If you kill one, it's gone but comes back and is a threat again. But if you cripple it, it won't get replaced and a crippled flyfish is MUCH less of a threat since not only does it fire less missiles, it is far less accurate as well. Not to mention flyfish usually are far off from base so gathering the golden eggs is a pain.

Pro tip: those two ink rails up top that stay active even in high tide? If you’ve filled your quota and scared to risk your life for more, just hop on there, and grind in circles. The salmonoids can’t do anything to you, and you’re fast enough to outrange any long ranged boss salmonoids. You might need to jump for your life if a stinger decides to show up, but otherwise, yeah. Some may call this the cowards safety button, I call it the escape from certain death. Tho maybe this strategy just flat out sucks and I don’t realise it.

I have done this once or twice. It's also a halfway decent bait for the glowfly event if you need to try and pull a swarm away for some revives. I always tell people the last 20 seconds of a run are all about survival after you meet quota, if you're the last person, run away if you don't have an easy line back to revive others.

It's an emergency maneuvre or a stall tactic in the very last stretch (if you've met the quota, of course), but usually not something you can or should keep up for extended amounts of time. If things look dire, sure, get on a rail, refill ink and do whatever you can to revive crewmates. But don't do this in the middle of a round if it's not absolutely necessary and with eggs still being needed.

playing defensive does seem like a much safer strategy seeing how low egg reqs usually are, and how often I'm sure I've died trying to get more eggs even after hitting the quota. but I did find it amusing how chugga said he wasn't going to worry about getting the eggs in the first shift and missed the quota on the last wave. for a few other people to check out, swimmingbird has a splatoon 2 series as well, and has like 45 videos on salmon run gameplay if you want more of that. plus Rassicas is a channel that chugga mentioned and they're very good, a whole bunch of videos with lore and stuff about splatoon things like the salmonids. even has videos about the bands that play all of the music in splatoon.

Small story for those who peruse the comments. During the final fest, my friend and I were on Ark Polaris and we got NOTHING but the Grizzco slosher during out entire run. Yeah we got the occasional other grizz weapon but it was mainly Grizzco Sloshers as far as the eye could see. I also got Profreshional that night :)

Tip: Doing a short Inkling-form hop around the ring near the basket gets you there slightly faster than you would otherwise. And I hope you show this stage again later so we can see it in low tide.

Something you didn't mention with the drizzler capsule - If you shoot it back at the drizzler it will kill it instantly. So many people seem to just shoot it away, but its better to line yourself up to shoot it back!

i find this can be really hard to do. you need the perfect spacing to do this, so you have to decide you're going for the instakill ahead of time. otherwise you can just shoot it down and fight the drizzler i like that there are instakills for some of the bosses but i wish half of them didnt require the sting ray/grizzco slosher. its a total lifesaver for maws though

@@MSCDonkeyKong Yeah, if the capsule is shot out and you aren't close to a right position then it doesn't make sense. But you can see what direction it's about to shoot, so if you can spot that you should be able to shoot it back properly 9 out of 10 times.

Respectfully, I feel like it would be helpful here to not jump with the Blaster when making tight shots like against those shielded Octarians. Its fire rate is poor, so you gotta make every shot count, but they deviate quite a bit if you shoot while jumping. Didn't know about that website, maybe I should take a peek... More Salmon Run! This map is... tough. It's super vertical, which tends to make moving around the map to ferry eggs take rather a lot of time and effort compared to other maps. It also means that being on one side effectively blinds you to most of the rest of the map. And High Tide is particularly cramped here... It's basically a square. I think the Low-Tide is also rather tough here. This is probably the map I fail on the most or second most... Now, for my personal opinion on Boss Salmonid priority... (I ended up writing more than expected...) 1. Drizzler Missile. And I'm only half joking about that. The Inkstrikes they cause control a lot of space and will steal turf remarkably quickly. Shooting down a missile isn't hard, and it'll damage anything it hits when repelled, even one-shotting the Drizzlers themselves. But even if you can't line it up with the Drizzler, you should still take the moment to stop it. The punishment for ignoring repeated missiles is far too great for how little effort it takes to take them out. 2. Stingers, for sure. They're extremely dangerous due to their infinite range and frequent and persistent attacks. I think they're much worse than Flyfish. If you have a Blaster or rapid-firing weapon, these enemies are worth beelining in many cases. If your weapon isn't suitable (Roller, charger), either trust someone else to handle it or aim to clear a path for your teammates to reach it instead. Inkjet and Splashdown are also decent solutions. Whatever the case, you absolutely cannot allow more than one of these to be active at any time. Much easier to eliminate on high tide, thankfully. 3. Flyfish take rather disproportionate effort to bring down, which is why I rank them a little lower, but like Stingers, their infinite range makes them endlessly threatening, so don't ignore them. If you have the space and ink to do it, you should absolutely take the moment to line up a bomb throw. Even if you can't defeat it immediately, just removing one of its launchers will alleviate some pressure. And if you have the Stingray, these are prime targets for it. If you see more than one Flyfish (or it's early into wave 3) and you have the space to use it, break out the Stingray. I think it's the best use for it aside from a Mothership wave. Remember the Bomb Launcher special as well. 4. Drizzlers. Yes, the actual boss this time. While stopping a missile is easy, it becomes hard to control when you have multiple to contend with. The Inkstorms will start stacking up and restricting your movement very quickly. Their method of attack makes them somewhat understated as a threat, but they're also very potent distractions, so it's also not worth going TOO out of your way for them. That's why I think they should be dealt with as soon as a decent opportunity presents itself. I like Splashdown against these guys in particular, if the pressure starts building. 5. Steel Eel. Quite annoying and heavily punish overcommitment, so watch out. They both make it hard to move around and to fight nearby enemies. Still, usually best to wait and let them get a bit closer to the basket, unless a good opportunity comes up to take it out from afar. Be mindful of who it's pursuing... or if it's pursuing you. Avoid having it coil on itself. BECOMES TOP PRIOTITY IN HIGH TIDE, HOWEVER. (I'd place them just below the Drizzler missiles...) 6. Steelhead. Big, powerful explosions, but so slow. Worth being extra mindful of the average range of the team's weapons. And worth more immediate attention in High Tide, but can otherwise be ignored fairly safely for a little while. Don't get too distracted by them. Chargers and other one-shot weapons with enough reach should prioritise this enemy more highly just by virtue of how quickly and easily they can do it. 7. Scrapper. Should be lured to base, if possible. Incidentally, base is also spacious, which is where you want to fight it most, as opposed to narrow pathways. Seriously, do not fight this thing on narrow pathways if you can help it. I rank it low mainly because you can halt it with any damage in an emergency so it's never too threatening unless you're squarely out of ink and surrounded. 8. Maws. I mean... it's slow, it's obvious, it doesn't get in the way much, lure it to base. Just make sure you have the ink for a bomb. Don't bother shooting it, it's virtually never worth it. If you absolutely have to shoot it, things probably aren't going well. Bomb Launchers can be used in a rush and Splashdown can be an emergency ink tank refill, too

When it comes to Sloshers in Salmon Run (and other similar weapons) they're definitely not great for single target DPS but they becomes a lot more useful when you slosh the shots above groups of enemies - they all get hit by that one slosh, inflating the overall damage output.

One tip for Salmon Run that was well demonstrated in this video: if you are dead, waiting to be revived, and you know there's someone trying to revive you STOP MOVING A moving target is a lot harder to hit, so be in the open and still, if within range of an ally trying to revive you.
