A little tidbit of knowledge about motion aiming I realised a while back: the reason why a gyroscope (or a mouse) is better for aiming than just an analogue stick is because you're controlling the camera's _position_ rather than its _speed._ A good demonstration is to move your input of choice to the right, and then hold it in place - with mouse or gyro, the camera will move to the right and then stop, but with a stick it'll just keep spinning, and you need to move it back again to get it to stop. This position/speed discrepancy is what makes sticks-only the objectively inferior control scheme. Also, hey it's another comment edited to say; happy birthday Emile! 🥳

this is also why I really want more games to embrace the motion control, like Doom and Fortnite have, although aim assist is supposed to help with the shortcomings of sticks only, depending on how strong it is (none in Splatoon, a lot in Fortnite) it can make controllers have the advantage

@@HGWeegee the fact that a game has to literally cheat to allow a control style to be competitively viable (which by the way, as a fortnite player who has used both M&K and controllers before, the aim assist there isn't as overtuned as everyone insists it is), then you have a major problem and you need to rethink the way you control your game.

I think I can add that I think people are a bit apprehensive about using motion controls is leftover stigmas towards it from stuff like the Wii and how a lot of games and systems ended up forcing motion controls where they weren't needed, coupled with how motion controls were detected through a separate physical motion sensor... that sometimes borked and didn't properly read your inputs, which leads to unresponsive inputs and subsequently frustrating gameplay. The motion controls for the Switch however are all internal via gyroscope, meaning unless your gyroscope/console was already damaged all you really need to do is calibrate it. No need to setup a physical sensor or make sure there's absolutely zero interference, no need to fenagle the best spot for it to pick up inputs, it's all done together and in a way where you have the most amount of control.

First off, happy birthday Emile! I hope you're having a great day. Second, the Light Tetra Dualies are a weapon I like to play around with occasionally just because of the highly unusual special. It can be quite fun to sow chaos amongst the enemy ranks by raining down autobombs on them. I only really use it in Turf Wars though since I'm not confident enough to use it in Ranked. Also, if I can say something about the motion vs. stick controls thing, when I first got the game I was pretty bad at it. The motion controls felt a bit too slippery and left me slightly dizzy so I tried a couple of games without them. The stick controls were just as hard to get the hang of but for the opposite reason, they felt too stiff. Then I played around with the sensitivity and finally found something that worked. It turns out that I play best with low sensitivity motion controls (about -3.5/-4) while using Joy-Cons held separately (because it feels intuitive to wave the right Joy-Con around like a Wii Remote). Even now having put almost 800 hours into the game this remains my go-to control scheme. Finally, as a brit I really appeciate the specific mention of "American football" rather than just "football" at 32:15, even though I do like watching both American and association football.

Tetras are super interesting, both the arguably best rolls but also super reliant on them. The kits are a damn same but I predict in 3 they are going to be an absolute nightmare. Fun fact the original light tetra kit had splat bomb launcher, which would make the sub have more use, be really useful for fighting or paint, and can still give extra rolls. Big rip. Also big happy birthday!

The comments reminded me that today is Emile's birthday, so... Happy Birthday, Emile! Thanks for the years of entertainment, and here's to many more to come. Tetra dualies? So, if tetra means four, and there are two of them, does that mean there are really eight guns? Or, is it four in total? The world may never know... It's definetly the latter, though. Eight would be the Octo Dualies... Which is almost certainly going to be a weapon in the next game, I'm calling it now. We're turning this "jumping off a platform to your death" thing an almost once-per-episode event at this rate. Can't wait to see how Emile manages to do that on the next Octoling level, whatever that may be. For some reason, I was expecting that sponge block to fall once he popped the balloon, even though that is not how this game works or, indeed, how it has ever worked concerning those blocks. At this rate, we're going to end up with a more than one-per-episode average when it comes to falling off stuff to your death. I'm counting that time he fell onto a suction bomb as part of this. If I had waited two more seconds, I would have been even more confidant in this observation. Okay, so that's why it's called the Tetra Dualies. Fair enough. Also, both guns are double barrel, too, so I was right in the first place. Horay for duel purpose naming! That shipping comment seems very targeted to a very specific subsection of this fanbase.

Man, the tetras. What an odd weapon. I remember thinking that the mobility was fantastic, until I learned that the movement is both a blessing and a curse. The 4 dodges have a surprisingly high skillcap to them. Cause you can be prone to overdodging. And you can absolutely murder your ink tank in the process of it, leaving you helpless.

As someone who beat Octo Canyon with Level 1 Hero shot on my first playthrough, I don't really recomend getting Level 3, it's honestly too powerful and kinda makes the final boss too easy in my opinion. This level is weird because at that last section with the cube, with different weapons they add a sponge block to help other weapons paint all the side. And after doing that puzzle the final checkpoint is just pressing a button and going to the zapfish with nothing in the way. It almost feels unfinished, like they wanted to add more to that section and just forgot. 23:10 Yep, I've pretty much dedicated my life to basket defending in Clam Blitz since nobody ever does. Speaking as someone who primarily uses stick only in Splatoon 2, the main reason why I think it’s hard to adjust is due to historically playing console shooters such as Call of Duty and PS4 Overwatch, games which are ONLY stick. It takes a lot of adjustment to get down the new playstyle, and the main reason why I personally don’t is a combination of the information just listed and the fact that high motion makes me admittedly a bit motion sick haha. But even speaking as a stick-only player, I would always recommend new players to play with motion controls first, as it is definitely more accurate and more fluid than very robotic stick controls.

The tenta dualies are a unique playstyle, and it was my personal favorite till a certain "clean" dualies became my main dualies. (BTW, noticed everyone wishing emile happy birthday, so........HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EMILE)

Happy birthday, Emile! (Once again, I'm providing my own thoughts, as someone who only ever played most of the weapons in Salmon Run) I've only played Tetra Dualies once (I think? I don't own it, at least.), and it was in Salmon Run. But it felt surprisingly comfortable to use it for me, despite the fact that I also hadn't played the Dualie Squelchers ever. It was all the dodge rolls, of course. I do think that there is one specific caveat with motion controls, and that is the space you have with both turning and looking at the screen. Obviously, don't turn around to the point where you can't see the screen. (That'd be silly.) But some people's chairs are highly restrictive, and probably don't turn: I typically played my switch in a very comfy chair, but that came at the cost of zero turning, because it's a foldable chair. (It's one of those "moon chairs".) So I played with both the stick and the motion controls, and I hardly changed my settings, using the default (mostly because I never checked it in the first place). The Y button for centering the camera is useful while retreating, since you can turn without moving the camera, then rotate a complete 180 to attack whoever's behind you.

Happy Birthday, Chugga! I've been subbed since the first half of Xenoblade 2 (Episode 104 to be exact!) and it's been a blast so far! Keep it up! What's so sad to me about the light tetra dualies is that it was datamined before release and it was discovered that it would have Splat Bomb Launcher as its special. It was then changed to Autobomb launcher upon release for some reason. Makes you think about what the light tetra dualies could have been with an actually decent special... On a brighter note, I like the design of these dualies. They're literally pistols with shoe soles attached to the front of them. Playing further into the sports theme, they were introduced at the same time as Goby Arena. Edit: nvm he mentioned the datamine thing, so I'll just say that in Alexis Pflaum's Project Splatoon 3 concept, there is a concept set for tetra dualies which has splat bomb and baller. I don't know exactly how good that would be, but it'd be better than what we have currently for sure!

i actually didn't know that you could upgrade weapons in Octo Canyon, so i went all the way to the end boss with all level 1 weapons, i remember getting mad that i couldnt beat him and my brother said "All your weapons are level 1, can you upgrade them?" 12:52 The prefix Tetra actually is for 4 of something, and most likely was intentional in the naming of the Tetra Dualies! (in Tetris, all the pieces have 4 tiles, chemical names with tetra in them mean 4 atoms of an element, etc)
