Imagine if every time you got wiped, you effectively died, and since there's no one to reclaim the eggs--since that would take time, too much time most likely--all of them are taken back by the saminids. That means more workers need to be found to replace the ones who died, who are less experienced. Or yeah he got the eggs but potentially lost valuable experienced workers. The constant paperwork involved!

If I had to guess why the splash-o-matic was so late in the unlocking order, maybe it's because it's more skill-based than other weapons. Perhaps the line of thinking was that, by the time the player has played through all the other weapons before it, when they get to the splash-o-matic, they'll have gotten enough experience with the game that they'll be able to make use of the weapon's precision.

I like to think the Devs just forgot about the Splash-o-matic. The fact that the Squeezer is before it in unlock order blows my mind. Best part is that It didn't even get the unique trait of 100% accuracy while jumping until patch 3.2.0 so before that patch it wasn't special in any way aside from having Suction bomb launcher and the Neo kit came out in patch 3.0 so It didn't even have anything unique about it at launch aside form the 100% accuracy on the ground

I have one more Salmon Run tip, specifically for this stage! It’s hard to properly describe, but there’s a section around the outside of the box that faces the low tide area of Lost Outpost with openings that lead back into the box and really tall walls. (The wall that Chugga is facing at 30:09) If you ink these walls, they will provide enough height for you to constantly drop Splat Bombs down on the Rush Chums and continue clinging to the wall. I mention Splat Bombs because dropping one destroys the Chums and prevents them from jumping up at you on the wall. It’s a good strategy for buying time for your teammates or if you just need to survive. Edit: Also, Undercover Brella is terrible in Salmon Run. You will hate it. The Undercover’s shield, unlike Splat and Tenta, cannot defeat basic Chums by them just walking into it. You will get pushed around everywhere. It is a nightmare on things like high tide and Rush. ESPECIALLY RUSH. Edit Edit: If you end up getting pushed into the water, the game still counts your character as being alive as opposed to dead while in their drowning animation. Surprisingly useful thing to know in the most dire situations. That’s the last of my advice for Salmon Run. Hopefully these tips were of good use!

About the UCBrella: I don't find it to be that bad. True, the canopy doesn't OHKO Chums, but I find smallfry to be MUCH more annoying, and the canopy DOES OHKO them. I think the Blaster and the Range blaster are the worst because the damage isn't enough to make up for their slow fire rates. And in a horde mode, where you're constantly rushed down..... :|

There's an easy way for them to change Salmon Run's scoring system so that you never end up exceeding the total of all the quotas, yet still lose due to one bad wave - just keep the previous wave's score and add the next quota on top, rather than resetting it back to 0. So for example, the first game's scores were 11/8, 15/9, 9/11, but they could instead be 11/8, 26/20, 35/37.

I think the splash unlocks late so that players that would enjoy it get to solidify their knowledge of the splattershot first Quick Octo expansion tip: if you're hurt badly and are running away, do not look at your enemies. Since this episode features multiple people in Salmon Run, all of which at different levels of experience, it’s probably good to talk about when for newer players to start on Salmon Run (granted, I haven’t touched Splatoon at all in quite some time, but played a lot in the early game). Given this channel comes from an experienced player, it’s usually nice to see the complete opposite. Granted, with friends who do know what to call for, Stephen had quite an easier place to learn than most. There’s a reason that Salmon Run got its own extensive guide, and recommends that players read and review it, even if they’ve played before. And in solo queue, the game will pair players of the same level, so it’s not like an expert team will lose out on a valued player simply because they just started. (If any players disconnect, the egg count gets reduced to compensate.) Overall, it’s good to at least have a little experience with the weapons: most players probably have some from the campaigns. At the least, understanding the fundamentals of the eight weapons of the base campaign is probably good enough, as well as an understanding of the four different specials (Splashdown, Sting Ray, Ink Jet, and Splat Bomb Launcher). Splat Bomb is the base sub weapon in the main campaign, and the very first sub as it’s on the Splattershot Jr., so newer players should know at least that amount.

A motley crew to play Salmon Run if there ever was one. Honestly, the fact that they not only got to final round 3 times but also WON a round with two profreshionals, an overachiever, and someone who finished the tutorial minutes before joining is pretty damn impressive. Plus the weapon rotation was half good/decent, half awful, so they had that working against them. Also glad they got pretty basic events, if they got the rush I'm fairly certain they'd blink and the round would be over XD I should note though, if you do play Lost Outpost, really take chugga's advice about the walls to heart; you may not be able to reach the walls every time you're trapped but it's still helpful, plus for the rush and griller events if you have people on top of getting onto walls in the base, they're actually pretty doable. Grillers especially since their weakpoint is always opposite to where they're facing, so if locked onto someone on a wall they're open season for everyone on ground (that isn't being hunted like a dog by a possible second griller, of course). Also sorry you had to grind for two events since they didn't show up in this vid, Salmon Run can be fickle like that. Only way to assure it is playing an extreme amount of hours to sate the Salmon Gods.

So I think the idea of having the sploosh before the splash is they want the concept of the gun to be out their first before giving you a more refined version of a weapon that has been made for better aim accuracy especially when you consider not everyone will be doing ranked or league matches and that turfs wars is meant to be a training ground for testing weapons in actual matches. So while the sploosh paints more widely for turfing and dealing slightly more damage because of that, it makes a little more sense to have a "better" version of the weapon be more focused on accuracy and support for matches that are more rank focused.

So Emile didn't realize this and I do not blame him for this. Despite the tagline "what's up, Dog?" the statue you're recreating in Matchmaker Station is not that of a dog. It is in fact, a cat, Judd specifically. It's really abstract but you can figure it out from the pattern of white and black blocks matching Judd's black-white fur pattern. As for why there's a statue of Judd in Kamabo Co.'s testing facilities... there are theories but I think it's just a fun detail left in by the devs. I think the tagline was a localization error made by a localizer who mistook the statue for a dog.

Guess if it’s the last Salmon Run episode, here’s a fun trick for people who don’t know! If things start getting dire but time is JUST about to run out, throw yourself into the water! I know, sounds counterintuitive, but it’s a good thing if you got a few seconds left on the clock, and due to the way landing in the water counts for getting splatted compared to just getting splatted like normal, you can make yourself considered “not dead” for a few seconds before your squid/octo dissipate from drowning! Obviously this is a last resort sort of thing, if you can handle yourself fine, then no problem, but in the off chance that there’s no way you can get out of a sticky situation but the timer is about to run out, consider drinking the sewage water, it may save the game.

XD (Also, as someone who played Salmon Run more than any other mode and has the strategies burned into my memory, I....I felt slightly dirty every time one of them would use a special on the first wave....but eh, that's probably a me thing) (And WOO, go Stephen, trying to learn chargers early! As someone who also did that, I can say that the start of the game is basically the best time to do it. Get that learning curve outta the way by easing yourself into the role against people just as new to the game as you! For once ignorance actually increases Octarian integration because younger Inklings don’t know and don’t care about what an Octarian is like or looks like. And Captain Cuttlefish in the US version is (while heavily altered) clearly the racist war vet for some reason, so he is validly “old-fashioned thinking”. Though I will admit the fact that Marina is accepted solely to being a good musician far too close to being a parallel to Black people first being accepted because of music - in a good way since they are angling hard on racism metaphors.

On the Splash V Sploosh unlock order- I would say Splash being later is because it has a higher skill floor than most automatic weapons given its basically a beam weapon. Sploosh and the splattershots and the like with their shot deviation can help if youre slightly off and helps with turfing- whereas Splash is just a no nonsense line meaning you have to put in more work to cover more area. You also dont typically have above character 3rd person shooters so they may have worried new players if they have experiance with traditional shooters would come in expecting to wreck with a low deviation weapon (that isnt a sniper) and be doing worse than expected but I see this as less likely

If you stay climbing on a wall for too long it is actually possible for the chums to jump up extremely high to hit you! I'm assuming they added this to make sure you couldn't just camp on a wall if there aren't currently any bosses that can hit you on it. This is especially noticeable on glowfly rounds where there aren't any bosses; you can climb the wall next to the basket on this map if the flies are on you, and as long as your teammates are actually getting rid of the fish you'll be safe there, but you can't camp if you're the only one alive because the fish will figure out the power of flight Also, salmon run with friends!! :D It's a lot more fun when you can share the suffering

some fun facts about the stations today - in duh-oh station i _swear_ you used to be able to clear out the first wave of enemies, then hide in the center where the launch pad spawns and totally skip any fighting. it seems to have been patched out as far as i can tell, 'cause every time ive tried it lately, one of the twintacle octotroopers spins around and spits out some ink, which forces you to surface. i have clips of both of these outcomes - matchmaker station's subheading is "what's up, dog?" but the pattern of the example statue is clearly meant to be judd. this was confirmed in an interview with famitsu, and pearl at one point says she's seen this shape before.

It was great seeing the boys get together for perhaps the final Salmon Run video! As for the Splash-o-matic, I believe it is unlocked very late because it is more "skill-based", as others are saying? And I guess because the Neo has to be unlocked after the vanilla, they tried justifying that by giving it an amazing kit.

Off The Hook News Wave Part 51: Pearl: What up my woozy walruses out there. I'm Pearl. Marina: And I'm Marina. And this is Off The Hook. Pearl: Tonight, the new kid took one more shift in Salmon Run on Lost Outpost. Marina: And this time, he brought along some friends of his. Their names were Proton Jon, Tom Fawkes, and Stephen Georg. Pearl: They took on three shifts today with their last one being a success. Marina: Still a great run overall. And with that, that's all for today. Remember. Pearl and Marina: Don't get cooked, stay Off The Hook. *cut* *meanwhile* *Flying in a helicopter to Mount Nantai* Marina: I don't know Pearl, something feels off. Pearl: Trust me. I'm sure they took out Mack no problem, nothing to worry abo... Um, Marina? Take a look at this. Marina: Huh!? *sees everyone groaning in pain* Oh no. *The two exit the chopper* Marina: Beax! What happened!? Beax: I-I'm sorry Marina. We had him right there, but. Sally: Alice and Sophie knocked out his troops with their ministrikes. Barbara: And then they and Sheldon surrounded them. Ned: And then Sheldon was preparing to shoot a sound wave at Mack to stun him. Alice: And that's when it all fell apart. Sophie: Mack used your phone to override Sheldon's disrupter and turned it against us, incapacitating us in the process. Sheldon: Agent 4 managed to avoid it and tried to bring him down, but Mack shot him with low tide ink and vanished. Marie: And the worst part, he said he found gramp's location with your phone, and didn't say where he was going. Marina: I... I can't believe it. Callie: So, it that it? He's gonna kill grandpa? Pearl: Not yet. Cuttlefish still has one more line of defense. There's this octoling we've been helping, Moe. Or at least that's what he's calling himself since he lost his memory, but he's with your grandpa and will protect him. Alice: How good of a fighter is he? Pearl and Marina: Um,...? *flashback to all the deaths and high-pitched screams of despair* Trust us, Cuttlefish is in good hands. Beax: That's a relief then. Now look, this may look pretty bleak now, but we need to focus on the bigger picture right now, putting a stop to Mack's ultimate plan. Cuttlefish's death is only one part of Operation CO2, as he plans to take every force HQ has to the surface and decimate everything in his path. So here's what I got; Sophie, Ned, and I will go down to HQ and capture all of the Octarians working for Mack. Sally, Barbara, and Alice; I want you guys to build a machine to clean up all the ink Mack spread all over Octo Valley. Sheldon; take the Squid Sisters back to Octo Canyon and have them keep an eye on Octavio. And boaster the defenses there in case another attack is mounted. Sheldon: Got it. Beax: Also, *looks at Joe* maybe get your friend to a hospital. Mack gave him one shell of a black eye. Sheldon: Of course. Beax: Pearl, Marina; Stay here at Mount Nantai and keep us updated on Mack. Pearl: Don't worry, we've got this. Beax: Look, I wish I could be in a more positive mood right now, but unfortunately, all we can do now is prevent Mack's plan from going any further. Understood? Everyone but Beax: Yes sir! Beax: Good. Now, *motions to Ned and Sophie* We've got work to do. Good luck everyone. *Beax, Ned, and Sophie head for HQ; Alice, Sally, and Barbara go collect materials to remove the ink; and Sheldon, Callie, and Marie take Octavio back to Octo Canyon, while getting Joe medical treatment as well* Marina: We'd better warn Agent 8 about this. *contacts Moe* Moe: Moe speaking. Pearl: Moe, where are you at right now? Moe: Just delivering the second thang to the phone guy. Marina: Is Cuttlefish with you? Moe: Yup. We're about to hop back on the subway. Marina: Look, I don't have much time to explain this, but there's an Octoling coming to kill Cuttlefish, so you need to protect him with your life. Moe: What? Someone knows where we are? I would say splashomatic is a beginners’ trap where unlocking it early makes people create bad habits that other weapons don’t allow such as the precision shooting making people think it’s S-tier when it’s really not. It’s like in smash where heavy characters are really easy to use and people think they S-tier when they’re pretty bad in a skill sense
