Chun-Li & Ken in FF: COTW?! - My Thoughts on SNK's TGS 2024 Panel

okay I did not think chun li and ken were going to make the cut in ff cotw and yet they did snk actually are putting them in a snk game for the first time. This actually had me surprised since this is gonna be hotaru's first time seeing chun li and meeting someone from the capcom universe especially how both of them uses the same chinese martial arts that being kung fu. Now about kofxv with vice and mature its interesting how snk showed the models for them for kofxv in progress which could explain the models for the character in xv and how they reused the models for the characters for ff cotw like rock terry billy mai and jenet. I just wish snk would do that for hotaru for kofxv cuz when they did her model for cotw they probably did it from scratch or something

Ken and Chun-Li were great choices for COTW. I definitely hope Vice and Mature aren't the last two chars added to KOFXV. Still want my Juri versus Luong showdown and hopefully Shen Woo, May Lee, and Zarina can be squeezed in KOFXV but mainly Shen and May since they are at high demand

@@winterice2022 I honestly thought we were going to get Hotaru in Season 2 of KOF XV...but I guess they were saving her for Fatal Fury's big comeback. I really wanna know what characters were on the cutting room floor for KOF XV.

Crazy thing. I was waking up on a Rainy day…watching the panel. And my mind was blown. Now I’m curious on who’s releasing with Ken. If I were to pick someone to be released with him: I’d pick Alfred Airhawk: Having a Protagonist & all Fatal Fury Protags playable at one time would be hype.

I could see Dong and Jae returning in the next pass or two. But yeah the chances of them coming back in the base game is slim as they're inseparable from MotW, unless they actually have loke a rift between the two. Since Jae is determined to follow his father's footsteps and train as hard, whereas Dong feels like he doesn't need to expand his craft given his current strength and instincts. Edit: When I mean inseparable, I'm not talking gameplay, since the brothers are very unique in their playstyles. I'm talking more of their personal stories since the two of them are both in each other's endings. So if SNK were to try and make them into the base games, then I think they gotta make their stories go in different directions without each other.

I’m with you on them choosing Ken over Ryu for COTW. I like Ryu but I don’t think he’d be all that interesting as a guest as he is pretty standard in terms of his moveset. Ken has some flair that makes him stand out more imo. SNK and Capcom definitely made the right choices for guests in COTW.

Darli is among one of the MANY characters in XV that need some fine-tuning. Even if it's not like Duo Lon, but SNK could've been more creative with a SamSho team if Nako was the closest to viable.

@@VaultXIV I know some people are surprised they didnt pick Ryu (obvious choice), but it makes sense seeing that its often Terry & Ken that are pitted against each other, same with Mai & Chun-Li. Capcom and SNK did hit the reset button on their working relationship a few years ago so...I felt something like this was inevitable.

@@TheChrisLotus IF anyone watch any esports with SVCChaos. A lot of the sprot vet that play KOF. They sure use Ken Masters a lot in SVCChaos in the tournament. When ask What they think of Ken in a SNK fighting game. They said Ken fits perfectly in a SNK fighting game. Saying Ken fits perfectly what SNK games are known for. Boy did they show off how dangerous Ken'ss combo is in SVCChaos. I couldn't be suprise that in a esport tournament in a FF COTW game. That once again Ken becomes one of the most dangerous fighters in a SNK game. It doesn't mean it is eaasy to pull off those long combos. But god damn, I never seen such a long a** almost you dead in one combo with Ken Masters in SVCChaos. I'm calling it now Ken most broken part of him is when he is in Rev Mode. Just you watch. Nver give Ken the ability to cancel to another cancel. Don't believe me? Go play Ken in Street Fighter EX series. He can cancel a special with another special or go back to just a super move. In hat form Ken is god like in combos. Yet here we go again Street Fighter Exor SVCChaos all over again with Ken. I'm not afriad of Ken palyers. I'm afraid of the esport players. They always find new tricks with Ken in just about any incarnation of Ken in a fighting game.

I don't mind the guest characters but we didn't get anything out of that presentation for the launch. Still no word on a battle hub which has helped SF6 and Tekken 8 with player retention or a beta so the online will be able to weather the storm the first week and not be a disaster like UNI 2 was.

Its good that SNK is supporting 3 games simultaneously via the SWC. i was dreading that they would go full Netherrealm and abandon ship.

I'm very sad for Samsho, the franchise is completely dead and I was hoping that in this event they would at least announce crossplay so that it would be easier for us to find matches but hey who knows, maybe they won't release more Samsho fighting games when the RPG arrives

Honestly it's better that COTW got thr crossover. The enhanced graphics will do the characters justice more than decent looking kof15

If Ken was in KOF 15, Maximilian Dood would have his dream team: Team Firey Blondes: Terry, Ken, and Rock Terry's story in SF6 was likely a BIG hint of COTW's big reveal. Terry being released two days before this announcement? His meeting with Ken referencing the CVS series? Coincidence? I THINK NOT!
