The answer is so simple that even a child can see it. Clergy have turned away from traditional orthodox conservative values of the Holy Bible and they do not live that traditional conservative orthodox faith of historical Christianity. People are starving for the Love and Truth and Way of Jesus NOT ONLY PREACHED IN WORD BUT IN DEEDS AND EXAMPLES. Clergy MUST be like the saints of old; like St Francis of Asissi - feed the hungry and thirsty, clothe the naked, ministry to the poor and needy, visit those in prisons, house the homeless. Until all clergy do these all these things, nothing will help the churches of any denomination. The instructions on how to beat your slaves, God killing David's child for the sins of his father, God torturing Job over a bet with the devil, the part where God orders the deportation of the mixed race children after the Hebrews mix with their neighbors, the other part where God gives special status to a man who killed a mixed race couple. General Jephthah doing a human sacrifice of his daughter with God not intervening (and rewarding him for it). You might say that the stuff i mentioned here is just the old testament but ill bring up some of the bad parts of the new like how eternal torture is threatened for the crime of disbelief, how the bible promotes self multilation to avoid sin, how Jesus told people to hate their families and abandon them to follow him, that how he told people that demons cause disease, that poison has no affect on them if they believe, how slavery is still permitted with slaves being told to obey their masters. All this stuff is pretty bad.
