It’s no secret that churches in Samoa hold a lot of influence over the people and that is expected with a nation claiming to be founded on God.

I have to agree with him. Unfortunately, the Church has put expectations on the people to meet their demands. They play on the poverty of the people by making them feel obliged to give time, assets and money to the Church. And make them feel ashamed if they can't meet those needs. And at times turn it into a competition of which family is giving more or less and making them feel guilty for it. Although this is happening in Samoa, it happens in other Churches in NZ and the USA which may be culturally different but the same principle is there where it demands the help, and resources of the people to thrive more as a business. And using shame and culture to propagate that business process.

SOME Samoan Church if not Majority has lost the plot of true Biblical teachings. I believe in keeping Culture and Religion totally Seperate. Haven't been to Church for 20 years yet I pray n read the good book daily. I find it more PEACEFULL and Self Happiness this way. I dont care about what people say and judge me on. Im living life freely and indeed happy 😀☝🖒👊

all religions are lies. the bible is filled with lies. Believe me I have researched. The bible was written by the Pope Constatine in the 5th Century to help the Romans put fear into the people so they are easier to manage......but it went viral now stupid people follow it to their own demise. shame. NOW they got you wearing masks and lock you up in your own homes......its evil.

Here we are in 2019 and this is still a huge problem in our Samoan community. Too much pressure for families to fork over monies for faalavelaves and church events, when that money could be spent on necessary needs for the family.

i am a Catholic and i support this guy, the cause of poverty nowadays comes from everywhere including Church commitments. the real problem is not the Church itself rather it comes from the people who run the Church. Jesus Never asks for any money or any huge buildings for himself. But in our world today huge buildings seems very important to church leaders and that is why we suffer. why build huge buildings for worship and no people come for church? perhaps Church leaders and those who abuse power must really look at the people and how they suffer. Another cause of poverty in Samoa is that the cost of living is rising but the wages or payments for the employee still stay the same. i think we as a nation really need to address this issue.

Did you forget about Church building schools and educating the kids that the Government has NEGLECTED? Churches have MORE High Schools (Colleges) in Samoa than the Government does. ALSO, the National University of Samoa started out as a University ESTABLISHED by the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa (CCCS/EFKS). Tofilau Eti Alesana the Prime Minister of Samoa at the time and who was a member of the Congregational Christian Church Requested the ELDERS of the Church to Let the Government take Over the University For the BENEFIT of ALL Samoa. Thus was founded the National University of Samoa. You can talk all you want but Churches in Samoa have done A LOT of GOOD with the money that people DONATE of their Own FREE WILL and FAITH. CHURCH/RELIGION DOES NOT SIN. PEOPLE SIN.

This isn't the right thing to do in God's eyes. The pastors should never be paid for their work for the Lord. The Lord will pay them, but here, when a pastor takes his congregation's donations for himself and his family, they're paying themselves and that stays here on earth, and when they die, they won't have any other reward in heaven. This isn't the will of God. God's will for pastors is to bring His people to Him, not chase them away by making money from their congregations.

Samoan Churches are not following biblical teaching on money. .. .u only supposed to pay your tithe which is 10% of your income n after that is your offering whatever your heart desire.. tithe is not only money but 10% of your time that u pray for other ppl or invovle in God's work..etc. ...read the bible yourself n if u don't understand the Holy Spirit will teach you.....u can listen to those who claimed to be faifeau preach the bible but it's your duty as individual to study the bible to know they're preaching the truth of God's Word...

This is the reason why many parents and their children suffered because of man's idea. God doesn't want us to suffer for wrong reasons but to serve him gladly. But now the families are forced to give even when they can't afford. Methodist in Samoa is one of the worse church I have ever seen iny whole entire life. They demanded too much money from the poor families. What happened, families will give all the money for whatever the church tells them, and after that, they cry because no money to feed their children, pay for their electric and water bills. What about the school children? But the funny thing is, the family work hard and give all their money to the church, but when someone gets sick or are really needed help, they won't be able to lift up their fingers to help them, and this is a very sad part. This is what happen when they are not preaching the true message of Jesus in the Bible.

If it feels wrong, most probably is wrong. The only reason why tithing was implemented as mentioned in the Old Testament was to help with the levites who served in the temple and their religious activities as well as help assist the poor of the day. Jesus sacrificial death erased, or abolished, the Mosaic Law, including the “commandment to collect tithes.”Hebrews 7:5, 18; Ephesians 2:13-15; Colossians 2:13, 14.

This guy is right. He thinks outside the box and does not uncritically accept the power and doings of the church. In my deeply devout catholic country, many people live in the streets but churches are everywhere and they are grand mansions. Why do people keep donating to the church when it is one of the richest institutions in the world? When my friend saw how wealthy the Vatican was and saw the misery of millions of Catholics around the world, he lost faith and stopped believing in the church. Their wealth runs into the hundreds of billions, yet many catholic countries are dirt poor. Religions are the biggest rip off for mankind. We do not need religion. We should focus on strengthening and empowering communities to improve people's lives.

The day everyone realizes you do not need a church to praise and worship God and Jesus is the day eyes will be open. Churches do not have to pay taxes but scrape up every bit of change from the people. Jesus spent his days out doors he despised temples who taxed their people. Regardless of which churcb you go to, TITHING is important because that belongs to God and biblically that is the Key to opening(I WANT TO EMPHASISE ON OPENING) the door to your blessings. Giving your offerings is what pushes those blessings to you. So to insinuate that church commitments brings about poverty is extremely appauling. Seems to me the reason for your predicament maybe that you rob God of your Tithe.

Not the same with the lds church only pay tithe if you can but you still get the help you need. See other churches in samoa shame families cos they only donate small amounts of money like they have a list of weekly donations zzzz should be about god jesus not about money some people are just too greedy and money hungry and use the church as an income for themselves and family👎

He talks about "Obedience" being the problem and that , thats what the bible teaches. But, who is it... that the Bible teaches you , to be obedient to? God? or man? Thats where your real problem is. Your obedience to your "leaders", and Not to God. If you were obedient to God, then you wouldnt listen to those men. PPl need to learn to actually read the bible...and Not have it read to them by others, instead.

Tithing was part of the old law, The Mosaic Law given ONLY to the Israelites then. This law was for the covenant between God and old Israel only then. This law was a tutor, a foreshadow of things to come, which was the Christ (Hebrews 8,9,10).Jesus was the fulfillment of that law. Now, we're under a different law, the law of the Christ. It's why we're called Christians if we follow his teachings. Jesus emphasized the principal of giving in the case of the poor old lady who gave a coin of little value compared with the plenty a rich man gave. In Jesus eyes, she gave more compared to the fortunate man. Why? Because she gave from her heart. She gave WHAT SHE COULD. It feels like churches put more emphasis on teaching about tithing. Obviously. What about teaching of the whole Bible? No, it doesn't make the churches rich. The churches need to teaches their subjects the accurate knowledge of God's Word for their spiritual richness. Sadly rather than teaching their flock, they are fleecing them. They are being skinned alive.I liken these churches to the scribes and Pharisees of Jesus day.Jesus denounced them of their hypocrites.(Matthew 23). Jesus didn't charge people for teaching them God's purpose. It was free. He told his apostles whom he taught, who also went out teaching others,, 'you received FREE, you give free.'

The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day saint is Restore back to earth, lead by prophet of the Lord..(Amos 3;7) test out your faith by asking God Himself if these things are true. James 1;5. I know for myself is true that is my testimony. God work through us His imperfect children just like Moses of old. he has allot of weakness same as prophet Noah, hmm allot of them did not believe him, so with my dear prophet Joseph Smith. I love all my brothers and sisters were all Heavenly Fathers children trying our best as we journey through our trials and tribulation. The Saviors of the world invitation....come unto me all of you who are heavy burden and I will give you rest. The gospel of Jesus Christ bring peace and Joy to our family and our community. It make evil men like me good and good man like you great. Island strong.

The problem with congregations these days is that, they don't have the truth, the bible says in the book of John And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John:8:32 if they did people wouldn't be suffering,Jesus already took that suffering on the cross, and the other problem is that people that are leading these congregations are not fill with the holy spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues according to the bible in the book of Mark And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. Mark:16:17-20 Acts on the day of pentecost when the deciples and others were cathering on the upper room and they were all fill with the holy spirit and they were all speaking in tongues the wonderful works of God,and also Jesus said know them by their fruits if they say they are fill with the holy spirit but not walking according to the bible well that's there fruits simple is that, alot of people says that it doesn't matter what church you go to,well let me tell you it does matter not all congregations practice or believe the same principles in the bible there is only one Jesus and one body the body of christ but all these congregations practices different and it's nothing to do with the word of God is all man made religions to suit them and that's not the body of christ because the body of christ is one is not devided I have alot to say and share about what the Lord has in my life and my family but i hope everyone understands what I'm saying I do feel compassion towards those people because I want them to have the truth and the truth will make you FREE indeed praise the Lord
