I think this guy has got it. I come from a completely different Catholic and Orthodox tradition. Singing is integral to these traditions. I was particularly moved when he talked about the Philipians Canticle "Though he was in the form of God, Jesus not deem equality with God as something to be Grasped." This is a moving chant we use in Palm Sunday liturgy and in the liturgy of the Hours.

A way to think of it Synagogues were places that different church groups would have bible study and debate the Bible or Torah with the ancient Hebrew commentaries from older Rabbis like the Talmud and The Targums
