This shows why every minister should be familiar with the basics of philosophy. The study of philosophy helps us see the Gospel in context with human systems of reason. It also reveals the limits of rationality and the necessity of faith as the starting point for all knowledge.

Good stuff... thank you. I particularly got a chuckle out of that snippet from Irenaeus' writing Against All Heresies where he unveils the highfalutin names for the Aeons, so that the real content of the teaching could be more visibly seen for the nonsense that it really is.

its cool the number of days in Matt 20 if you add them equals 30 =1+3+6+9+11 its a hobby of mine to add sets of numbers that I see in ancient manuscripts numerology was very important to ancient peoples so I do this out of curiosity tring to understand their perspective if you take this one step further you would take 30 and add the 2 numbers 3+0=3 and we would go no you did not take it far enough its The Trinity or Godhead it would help those people that came from that background to understand how all things in scripture lead to God tThe Faher, God The Son and God The Spirit
