Here are quotes from Indians supporting the idea that the British suffered economically from their presence in India, and that the Indians benefited: 1 Indian historian Ramachandra Guha: "The British presence in India was a drain on resources and manpower, resulting in a decline in the British economy during a critical period of growth and expansion." 2 Indian economist Amartya Sen: "The growth of the British economy after India gained independence in 1948 supports the conclusion that divesting from India was more economically beneficial for Britain than relying on resources obtained through imperialism." 3 Indian journalist Prakash Karat: "While India's resources and labor contributed to the British economy, the British presence resulted in a drain on British resources and manpower, ultimately proving to be a money loser for the British." 4 Indian historian Dipesh Chakrabarty: "The demands of empire stifled Britain's own development, leaving behind a legacy of economic strain and decline. Despite this, India benefited from the British presence and has since emerged as a major global economic power." 5 Indian economist Pranab Bardhan: "The British presence in India resulted in a drain on British resources and manpower, ultimately proving to be a money loser for the British. On the other hand, India benefited from the exchange and has since emerged as a major global economic power." 6 Indian journalist Arundhati Roy: "The British presence in India resulted in a drain on British resources and manpower, ultimately proving to be a money loser for the British. India, on the other hand, benefited from the exchange and has since emerged as a major player on the world stage, with a growing economy and increasing global influence."

I am British and I am ashamed of the whole story that has been made up to glorify the Empire and so called British-ness. I have a feeling that the British people were simply slaves to the Dukes and Kings that landed on that island and still rule now via family heirs. I can only say sorry to Indian people and everyone else. But I thank India for the love of all things Indian I have including a deep respect for Indian traditional medicine which I can say for a fact is far better than modern recent heavy chemical based animal tested drugs. Give me Turmeric and Black Pepper any day for a cure for inflammation and that is just one small example. People of India I love your ancient Vedic wisdom.

Aime Ceasaire wrote in his poetic book "Discourse on Colonialism," that what Hitler did was nothing new. The Europeans had been doing this all around the world, in Africa, Asia for their colonial and imperial interests. What filled the British or Europeans with discontent with Hitler was that he applied the methods of torture, degradation and Violence reserved for colonial subjects, blacks ok Europeans. It was not a concern of humanity rather how could anyone treat Europeans in the same manner, with same methods through which Europeans deal with their subjects.

How could Winston Churchill be blamed for policies of British, when he didn't become prime Minister until 1940, and Bengal had already experienced 10-year drought with upper caste Hindu Brahmin hoarding rice. Japan invaded Burma attacking the Indian subcontinent, don't you expect to send rice from Bengal to Burma to feed British and Indian army? Do you want to be speaking Japanese today? 90% of the British UK army fighting in Burma, were Indian. Do you expect your Indian army to starve defending and protecting the Indian subcontinent? Winston Churchill served as UK Prime Minister twice - from 1940 to 1945 (before being defeated in the 1945 general election by the Labour leader Clement Attlee) and from 1951 to 1955.

If you want to learn about Churchhill, speak to the surviving Indians and Africans that he slaughtered. This sentimental documentary is just dreadful. Churchhill was a war criminal and his mentality wasn’t that far off Hitler‘s in wanting to spread the English empire as far as he could. He was psychopathic and ultra pro business and didn’t have any principles, siding which ever political party would give him the most para at the time. And as for defeating the Nazi power that is just ridiculous. It was the Russia defeated German fascism to the west (and even less cited, China to defeating the Japanese fascists it to the east). English had a very weak army and didn’t contribute much to the war at all. It is more interesting that the English are so warm towards him as this shows the profundity of the UK propaganda, class filtering of journalists and gullibility.

My letter in The Financial Times, February 2019. While there has been a backlash over comments by Labour party shadow chancellor John McDonnell about Winston Churchill (February 14), can I ask that a further debate is applied to Mahatma Gandhi? Both men are honoured with statues outside the Houses of Parliament in London and revered for their bravery, but now that Mr McDonnell has questioned Churchill’s integrity can Gandhi face the same level of scrutiny? Gandhi was a man who worked tirelessly to unite the peoples of India, regardless of ethnicity and religion. He was especially supportive of the Indian Muslim community, and his statement that “India does not belong to Hindus alone” is testament to his belief that India should accommodate the differences among its people. However, during his time in South Africa, he referred to black Africans as “Kaffirs”, an extremely derogatory and wretched term. Other comments from him include a “general belief seems to prevail in the colony that the Indians are a little better, if at all, than savages or the natives of Africa” and “about the mixing of the Kaffirs with the Indians, I must confess I feel most strongly”. Whatever the period, these are racist comments. Gandhi wanted to differentiate his community from that of the Africans, emphasising that whites and Indians originated from the same Aryan stock, and should not be grouped with Africans. In October 2019 India will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Gandhi’s birth. While the nation remembers a man who did so much for all Indians, let us also not forget what he thought and said about Africans. I hope prime minister Narendra Modi can use the celebratory occasion to extend an apology to black Africans for past comments and assure them they are welcome in India. Perhaps Mr Modi can go further by updating Gandhi’s quote “India does not belong to Hindus alone” to “India belongs to everyone”.

The level of loot and exploitation British did was astounding. They at times I feel were evil by ignorance unlike Hitler who was evil by intent. But Churchill stands out in this league as one who truly found Indian race to be reprehensible. And this hatred is pretty well archived in British records. Although I feel bad for today's English population that are under this PC woke culture ridden in complete guilt and in process have handed over some control of their land to these commies.

Produced the most ridiculous arguments that Operations could be sped up so as to leave us an option till December before having to withdraw any forces from europe! He knows no details, has only got half the picture in his mind, talks absurdities and makes my blood boil to listen to his nonsense. I find it hard to remain civil. And the wonderful thing is that 3/4 of the world imagine that Winston Churchill is one of the Strategists of History, a second Marlborough, and the other 1/4 have no conception what a public menace he is and has been throughout this war! It is far better that theworld should never know, and never suspect, the feet of clay of that otherwise superhuman being. That's right! Indians volunteered for the Indian army in both World War I and II for a variety of reasons. Primarily, they wanted to serve their country loyally, fulfill a sense of duty, and prove their bravery and patriotism. In World War II especially, India was threatened by foreign powers such as Japan invading Burma or Germans & Italians in North Africa - making it absolutely essential that India had an able force defending its borders. If Indians hadn't fought during either war, it would have had devastating implications on India's security and economy as the country could have been occupied by these forces leading to loss of independence & sovereignty while also affecting economic stability due to lack of production/trade opportunities resulting from occupation etc. In addition joining the Indian army offered financial benefits too since soldiers received wages along with other incentives like access to education funds/scholarships etc., while government collected taxes from them which came in handy for funding war efforts or infrastructure development within the country itself - thus benefitting both soldiers individually & collectively at large.

And - let's face it - if no less a charlatan than Shashi Tharoor (a demagogue, a hypocrite, and a liar) thinks so ill of Churchill, then that is by far the greatest endorsement of the latter there could possibly be. "English is by far the sickest assholes in the entire history of the world . . . " - I'll refrain from reporting such a disgustingly racist remark, just this once. After all, one has to make at least some allowance for uneducated savages. "and the fucked up this is they think wht they did was great." - As far as India goes, it was. Not to mention the Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Belgians, Scandinavians, Italians, Germans and Russians. Oh, and let's not forget the Romans, the Mongols, the Persians, the Mughals, the Chinese . . . among a great many more we could discuss. These comments comparing Winston Churchill to Hitler are not accurate. Indian writer Arundhati Roy called Churchill a "greater monster than Hitler," but this statement ignores Churchill's support for Indian independence and significant reforms he implemented in India. Indian politician Sashi Tharoor described Churchill as a "mass murderer" and his actions in India as a "holocaust," but these extreme claims are not supported by historical evidence. The Bengal famine was a complex issue caused by multiple factors, including war-time food shortages and poor governance. Churchill and the British government took significant actions to address the famine, including sending food aid to India and helping to eradicate starvation within a year. This view is supported by Indian historians such as Mukul Kesavan, who have acknowledged Churchill's efforts to mitigate the famine's impact.

Mismanagement of the Indian Bengal famine of 1943 belongs to the Indian Bengal government of mostly Hindus ruling Muslims, not the British. Between 1935 and 1940, the government of Indian Bengal was mostly made up of Indians, mostly Hindus ruling over Muslims. During the famine between 1940 and 1945, the Indian Bengal government was still mostly made up of Indians, mostly Hindus ruling over Muslims. The Indian Bengal government was democratically elected in 1940, with 175 Hindus, 65 Muslims, and 10 scheduled caste elected officials. However, the Hindu-majority party in power in Bengal, the Krishak Praja Party, had discriminatory policies towards Muslims, who made up a significant portion of Bengal's population. This worsened the famine's impact on the Muslim population. The Government of India Act 1935 decentralized the administration of food and agriculture to the provincial governments, including Bengal. Natural disasters such as crop disease and cyclones had severely affected Bengal's food production. Additionally, the Japanese Empire occupied Burma/Myanmar, which had historically supplied rice to British India during famines, further reducing the food supply in Bengal. The British Empire are not to blame for losing ships to German and Japanese submarines, making it difficult to transport supplies to India, and news of the fall of Burma leading to other Indian provinces refusing to help Bengal, it's important to acknowledge the role of the Indian Bengal government in mismanaging the crisis. Marwari traders hoarded grain, exacerbating the food shortage. Canadian Prime Minister McKenzie King offered to send grain to Bengal, but British Prime Minister Winston Churchill secure safe transport of so he ordered that grain be shipped from Australia, which was ordered to send 444,000 tons of wheat (one year of food) in the middle of a World War. Churchill also wrote to American President Roosevelt for shipping support for grain, but Roosevelt refused to help because safe transport couldn't be secured and due to his belief that the complete destruction of Germany and Japan was a more pressing priority than helping with the famine. In conclusion, the mismanagement of food resources by the Indian Bengal government played the key role in exacerbating this crisis. Discrimination against Muslims population led them disproportionately suffer even more compared to their fellow Hindu peers during this period. According to Government of India Act 1935 food & agriculture related decisions were provincial issues so ultimately those mostly Hindus governing Bengal are responsible for the missteps or intentional neglect regarding handling such matters effectively.

People accept it and deal with it. That's why Churchill's statue will be removed from public places very soon.

In 2019, a study published in the journal, Geophysical Research Letters, suggested that the Bengal Famine of 1943 which led to the death of more than 3 million people, was not caused just by drought but also due to complete policy failure on part of then-British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

According to you all of these Indian historians are liars who say that India was poor country compared to Europe and England. So you are telling me that Indians are liars According to historians, the wealth of Europe (including England/the British UK) and all of Continental Europe was significantly higher than that of India when the British arrived in India. This is due to a number of factors such as technological advancement and increased access to resources. In his book, "A History of India", Indian historian Romila Thapar states: "The wealth of Europe and the rest of the continent was significantly greater than that of India. The reasons for this were many-such as technological advancement, increased access to resources and commercial expansion." Indian historian R.C. Majumdar wrote in his book "A History of India": "The wealth and power of England and other countries of Europe was far greater than that of India." Indian historian Bipan Chandra wrote in his book "India Since Independence": "The wealth and power of the Western nations, including England, was far greater than that of India." Indian historian Sri Ram Sharma wrote in his book "The Meaning and Imposition of British Rule": "It is clear that the wealth and power of Europe, particularly England was far greater than India's." Indian historian K.K. Aziz wrote in his book "A History of the Idea of India": "In terms of wealth and power, England and Europe were far superior to India." Indian historian R.S. Sharma wrote in his book "India's Past": "The level of wealth and power possessed by the European nations, particularly England was far greater than India's." Indian historian R.C. Dutt wrote in his book "The Economic History of British India": "It is clear that the wealth and power of Europe, particularly England was far greater than India's."

Add Kissinger to the list of mass murderers. The interviewer's accent is not British, I have a good ear and I can hear his Indianness not that this is in any way germane to the substance of why we are here.
