4 years ago my father was in the hospital dying of cancer, a CNA came in each day and dressed him, comb his hair, shaved him and make him feel special. He was always the same CNA with the same amazing attitude. One day I asked him are you a Christian? He said “yes indeed I love the Lord Jesus Christ” and his smile from ear to ear. I said I can tell from the way you treat my father.....

My wife and I went through some similar experiences. One Sunday afternoon, when I came home after a long day of Church meetings, some angelic neighbors were washing my wife's hair in the kitchen sink. She had recently gone through surgery to remove cancer and wanted her hair washed badly. It had been several days. These wonderful women laid her gently on the counter top and helped her feel "beautiful" (I put this in quotes because, although she is always beautiful to me, she wasn't feeling this way at all) again. I will forever be grateful for the angelic women who came and helped my beautiful wife.

I have a sister with autism and learning disabilities. She’s always been this way. I was taught to be kind to others but having a sister like her helped me take a further step and be an advocate for others. It’s interesting that Jesus is called our advocate before the Father. We are all imperfect, whether inside or out. But whether they be seen or unseen such as my sisters disabilities, they make us human and we each have the opportunity to help each other out and be Gods helping hands. My sisters been bullied and scorned, rejected and neglected but her Christlike example of never judging or holding grudges or being mean back to those who’ve hurt us teaches our family that we can be better and we’re blessed for having her in our lives just as you’ve blessed many with your story. Thank you.

Jessica, "advocate" is one of my favorite Christlike attributes, and one I haven't heard many people in the Church talk about. But it has been standing out to me for the past year+ as I've been reading the scriptures. I love that you shared this! His promise that He will be our advocate with the Father is one of the most beautiful phrases in scripture. It has always filled me with such peace, now it fills me with a call to action. I love that you feel that call too. Thanks for sharing.

I worked with a boy for his entire high school program who had cerebral palsy and extremely high muscle tone. He was mute and entirely dependant on my help. It used to amaze me how many people would fire a question at me that he could capably answer if you took the time to talk to him. They saw only the disability not the intelligent person that he is. I pray for those who live in ignorance of the feelings and intellect of others, although you who have disabilities that are visible need our help, they have a far greater disability that they need help from you and the Lord to teach them to overcome.

My family has been fighting a lot lately, and it makes me feel horrible, as though I am a bad sister. But as she said when we stop yelling at each other and see each other as individuals who have a potential, a great potential, we love and serve. I am unsure of the trials the lord has placed upon us, I am unsure of why, or how the future will be, but I do feel the lord closer, and he has not left us nor abandonded us. He has loved us, showed us patience, and dignity. Someone could be the worst person on the whole world, but heavenly father will still love them. Because we are worthy of love and kindness.

I, too, cannot understand how anyone could dislike this simple, courageous and powerful personal experience. WE are more than just bodies that talk and walk and we must treat each other with MUCH greater care and respect, no matter our looks, race, nationality, beliefs and even health status. Whenever one our children was born and a person asked whether it was a boy or a girl, we often got the response, "Well, most importantly it`s healthy!" And we would think and even sometimes say, "And what if it weren`t healthy?" Health and living a life void of challenges is not what life is about to me - it is about growing, learning and developing our characters, to see beyond the body or status and see the divine, eternal spirit in each human we encounter.

The last week of my mom's life, I was the one in my family that took it upon myself to bathe her, dress her, brush her teeth, put lotion and chap stick on her, etc. It was a tender and loving service that was very therapeutic for me. She was not conscious that last week, so I didn't know if she was ever aware of my actions, but tonight, listening to this woman speak, it felt very strongly to me like her words were my mom's. I'm so glad I could perform that service for her, give her her humanity and dignity and prepare her body for her funeral. Thank you for this video and the healing and new perspective it's given me to think about.

Thank You for the beautiful reminder that it is the small acts of service that change the world in great ways! Lucas probably didn't know how much he was doing to heal your Spirit when he began to wash your hair; just like the CNA with the cold shower did not realize how her actions affected you. We all have challenges and trials; some are more visible than others. But if we all treated each other as gently and tenderly as Lucas treated you; how much different our world would be! Every small act makes a difference. How many of us have been touched by seemingly small, simple, kind acts that remind us that somewhere, someone cares about us? You are truly beautiful inside and out!! Thank you for your courage and faith and for sharing your difficult journey with the world!

Jodi is so awesome. We know her personally and she is one of the kindest, most courageous, boldest, and eloquent people we know. Her social media posts are inspiring. She has written several amazing books and has dedicated her life to lifting others and doing good in this world. Keep your eyes on Jodi and follow her. She is going places and her work is far from over. The best is yet to come.

Watching this encourages me to treat a certain chronically difficult person in my life better. Just because their behaviors are challenging doesn’t mean that I should treat them less who they are...a Child of God. I’m a work in progress but I will try!

Stop seeing imperfection in myself and others, and see myself and each person as a child of God. Lucas had this gift of the Savior. So grateful for you and your courage to overcome and progress and move on and share! The Lord is kind and merciful and loving and caring. You are an example of His Light. Love, Me

I appreciate her candor about her experience. It makes me want to be more aware of how I treat anyone I encounter in my day and what messages my actions may send them, and it gives me a desire to be more gentle with myself.
