As a kid in Kedah, Malaysia in the late 60's, I remember this particular brand very well. My late grandfather had a pair of Church's during those days when cheap shoes haven't arrived yet. Out of sentimental reasons, I went to check at the Herring Shoes website just before Covid appeared. A bit too expensive for me, and a risk to buy without trying first. But I hope that one day soon I'll just bite the bullet and buy a pair.

Great to have the vocal narrative, it adds to the experience. Removing the old stitching is pure professional, the number of times I have been so disappointed with work done on shoes after paying good money to boot (sorry about that pun). Respect and hats off to you.👍

Like others, I agree it’s great to hear the narration, especially with your Scottish accent. I did, however, have to turn up the volume to hear you, then quickly turn it down when the machines were running. I don’t know whether you can correct that in editing.
@CobblerG4 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, I plan to, I use my phone to edit and film and use a couple of apps to do the editing. I am pretty limited to what I can do but I'm working on it, and going to get better gear soon too. Thanks for the comment!

Mark; there is an older cobbler on youtube at Bedo's Leather Works who has some techniques he learned from his father who was a Lebanese shoe maker before the family fled from the Lebanese civil war to the United States.

Tremendous painstaking craftsmanship pal well done. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👍👍 I would like to make a point as regard the shoes manufacturers. Shoe can be refurbished many times but it cannot be refurbished more than twice if sent for repairs by the shoe manufacturer the reason they keep replacing shoe with new welt which is not necessary if the welt is in excellent condition . Replacing welt of a shoe in excellent condition is putting additional holes on the side of the shoe where welt is stitched. Only replace the welt of a shoe if is busted.
@CobblerG4 жыл бұрын
Thankyou. When replacing a welt I stitch it on using the existing holes from when the manufacturer first welted the shoe so there are no extra holes being made on the upper. As long as the uppers are kept in good condition rewelting this way can be done several times. Thanks
@olatusijazz81554 жыл бұрын
@@CobblerG Absolutely, shoe is my passion. When shoe repairer replaced welt of a shoe which is done by hand they stitched it on the the same hole where welt is removed. The shoe manufacturer use welt machine which put additional holes on the side of the shoe and this make it impossible for a shoe to be refurbished multiple times.

Do you have shoes with 360 welt or only 270?

Top job mate. Are these a better shoe than the Loakes you did ... or is it horses for courses?
@CobblerG3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Loake are a great shoe brand in my opinion, they do some great shoes and boots. The churchs are also great, probably I would say a little better made than the loakes. Cheers

You explained stitch removal. Why You sand or some use a knife. What got me the most was You then could remove the stich in 1 piece. You 1 upped Bedo on that info. Or I just missed his video on it.
