Only a part of Chuvash share common background with Finno-Ugric Mari, Erzia, Udmurt. But the Chuvash themselves have come from the Caucusus - there are many folk stories and legends on that. Recent genetic studies prove that, also showing that there's significant genetic difference with Mari. But it doesn't mean Mari and Chuvash are not close. Vice versa! The Chuvash and Mari fought together against Moscow and Kazan for a state of their own and share very similar culture.

The best reply! "Who borrowed from whom is really not important" Wise! But from the point of view to dig in our unknown past it is interesting to see the sources and the direction of influence. And one important thing - to decode the music... The music, the danse and embroidery must tell the same story.

Gök Khan gave his daughter to chinese prince for wedding and chinese recorded his daughter like "red haired and blue eyed". so we coulnt see these type türk uygur people so much. they are few . but chuvas still have it .

Chuvash music too is largely based on pentatonic scale similar to Chinese. The vagueness may be due to the bands experimentation with mixing of Chuvash and Russian styles.

Everybody is talking about ancient bulgarians, but I would say that Chuvash culture resembles more of today's Hungarian culture. The clothes and language is very similar.

Bulgars dendiğinde Bulgaristandaki bulgarlardan bahsedilmiyor..Bulgar volgar türkleri Hunlarla akraba pro-türkic dil ailesinden ve Sümer kökenli türkic halklardır.. dilleri hala antik Türkçenin izlerini taşıyor..bunu Macar bilim adamları söylüyor..

No, Hungarian traditional dresses are different from this. The language really sounds rather Uralic than Turkic, but it sounds more similar to Mari or Moksha (Volga Finnic languages), not Hungarian

It's a very simple folk song, saying "the Chuvash (song, dance, clothes) is beautiful only if you know how to (sing, dance, wear) it. And Chuvash lady is beautiful, but only when she is polite". Artist Avkustă, whose record this is, is quite popular in Chuvashia. Check chavash . cv . googlepages . com / home2

This music reminds me somewhat of East Asian music, such as either Chinese,Korean,or Japanese music, friends.I guess that I shouldn,t be too surprised since the original Turks originated within sight of China, friends.

"The music is so close to Chinese folk songs." Lev Gumilev has written books about hun-nu empire and wars against China. 20-30 years before Gumilev, Bulgarian Dimitar Suselov has written almost the same book - The Road of Bulgaria ... I am not sure - may be the Chinese songs are close to hun-nu songs....

@Purple1cloud 1:35, 2:04, 2:12, 2:16. I think men's clothing was less important, and it was not preserved. Women's clothing is preserved more because it's hereditary. Especially the silver-coined accessories were inherited. Of course, women made new ones along the way. Some of this tradition still remains. But already in my family i can say it stopped. My mother has those, and although my sister will inherit it, she doesn't feel need to make new one.

They say the Hunnu borrowed a lot from the Chinese - as China was settled and produced "culture" - all little things that people wanna possess. Pentatonic music in fact was spread all over Eurasia - north to south, east to west. Who borrowed from whom is really not important. As of today people around the world believe music tarnslates to everybody.

It is very hard to say, for there's no definition of Tatars. We are relative with Kazan Tatars by blood. We descend from Volga Bulgaria. But we separated from each other by own will, by will of Tură and Allah.
