I stumbled on your channel years back. Keyboards are like tools to me - the best tool is the one you have at-hand - and I'm not picky, nor am I especially learned in the details that differentiate keyboards. Yet, you have always - even if it takes two or three videos - you have always been able to show me keyboards I do not like AT ALL. You do this in a genuine, authentic way that pleases me. Thank you. May you live for a thousand years.

I'm glad you rave about the hall effect switches for smoothness. I sometimes watch people like Hipyo Tech who is exactly opposite to you, not saying he's bad, just opposite. He hates contactless switches because he hates the sound and he also hates the feel. I think he hates the feel because he's used to lubed switches. Again his opinion, he isn't wrong to think that way, but it's great to have reviewers like you say, "Yes these switches are the real deal. Yes you should consider them for a smooth experience. Yes I'm comparing them to decades of keyboard history, not just the contemporary Cherry MX clones."

This has to be my favorite keyboard channel. I like that you aren't one of these channels that praise the "thocky metallic case custom boards" into high heaven, yet you also don't just review the newest gaming slop keyboard and the background info you have in your video is another massive plus. I love vintage stuff aswell and you led me to buy a Unicomp Mini-M. It's just a mix between oldschool keyboards, some new stuff like Hall-effect tech and also some "normal" gaming keyboards, that's what I love

Congrats on 10 years! Thank you for being one of the people who guided me through the finer aspects of this hobby. Hearing Ace Pad Tech takes me back. Up until recently I worked for a US-based mechanical keyboard distributor. One of the first HE boards I touched on the job was an APT04 in their clicky switches, and this was before the current HE-renaissance we're seeing now. Feeling that tiny, fucked-up paperclip click mechanism was delightful. That teak wood frame was classy as Hell. It's a shame they're not around anymore.

@yowhatsup990920 күн бұрын
12:44 Yey, that's me. I started collecting keyboards a while ago and my collection grew to around 80 keyboards as it is today. Almost none of them have a box, and i have trouble storing them in any way because i'm scared to put the keyboards near each other, being all around careful so the cable won't damage them. :-) Also i think that the reason why are people no longer sending you interesting stuff is because sellers started marking prices up. As companies changed equipment and thrown old things into a garbage, stuff is much harder to find. I'm yet to find an IBM Model F for less than 200 euro, so i could finally add it to my collection. I just can't justify spending that much on a single keyboard haha.

Those hall effect rubber dome switches sounds tantalising! I just find that people spend soooo much time trying to find switches that feel like a btc dome with slider but with a better way to register key presses. The huntsman v2 made me a linear guy, but before that I used a matias quiet click keyboard.
@Chyrosran22Ай бұрын
Rubber domes do feel like a very natural way to make tactile, non-clicky switches, I've pushed that point several times in the past. There are genuinely good rubber dome boards for sure. Hope I can get my hands on those Hall effect ones!

I had to rewind when I heard this. I've been wanting to do this exact thing after seeing Riskables void switches. I thought if you took the same concept but stick the magnet to the bottom of a Topre style switch, it would be about the perfect switch in my opinion. Glad to hear someone is actually trying it. Especially if they make the "switches" and firmware open source or something so I could use them in my own custom layout. I love Topre but do ortho/ergo layouts of which there have been very little activity.

100% agree on OMF 2097 being one of the best games of all time-- my brother and I would play this for hours and hours. Not only is it criminal that a remake hasn't been made (after googling a remake project has been established but not how well it's going), but it's also criminal that the idea of having upgradeable fighters is not a standard element in fighting games, with upgrading both the pilot and the robot making this additionally more interesting. It's sort of bizarre to me in general that most games don't have RPG elements.

Damn... I missed the opportunity to ask a question! Sorry if this was answered already in the video, but if not, may I ask a keyboard-unrelated one? Being a chemist myself, I always wondered: what do you do in the lab-what branch of chemistry are you in? And do people at work know about your keyboard personality? And do you plan to upload something from the lab ever again? (^: Edit: I see this was asked at 4:43; it’s incredible that you work with organometallics, so do I! A point about metal keyboards; I have a Q6 at work and I think it's awesome. However, at home I tend to sit with my legs on my desk and my keyboard on my lap. Hence, I would never buy a metal keyboard for use at home because it would be far too heavy. I'm literally typing this from that position right now.

I've only recently discovered your content, in part because of your review of the modernized IBM keyboards, but I love your sense of humor (WANING!) and your no-nonsense reviews. I feel the same way about durability as well. I'm moving away from "gamer RGB" bullshit because for the most part it's all cheaply made and they fail and fall apart easily. Since I commented on your 8 year old review of a modernized IBM Model M, also produced in Lexington, KY just as the originals were, the I key on my decent Logitech keyboard is broken, and I'm stuck using a crappy Razer Ornata keyboard from 2018, that I bought before realizing just how bad Razer's quality was. I'm now reminded of the absolutely horrible spacebar stabilizer this thing has, and hopefully, since I live 50 minutes away from Lexington, that New Model M will be on my front porch soon. UPS has yet to send it out but I have a tracking number. Maybe by Sunday (God, I hope). In the future I'm also going to be looking into sturdier computer mice - This Logitech G502 is alright, but as I said, I'm done with "gamer" garbage.

Also, my American eyes have spotted some antique guns, in the lower left of the screen. I'm also a sucker for the antiques, the only exceptions are certain handguns. I would love to have an original ArmaLite or Colt produced AR-15 from the 50's or 60's with the factory carry handle and wooden furniture, but the damn things are hen's teeth in decent condition and when people DO sell them, they want so much money you'd need to sell a kidney to pay for it.

@@lsswappedcessna Guns are another of my countless hobbies. In the Netherlands it's all extremely illeagl so I have to make do with airsoft replicas, and I also have a blackpowder rifle (which are legal). I'm going to an antique firearms fare on Sunday, as it happens :) .
@lsswappedcessnaАй бұрын
@@Chyrosran22 I do hope you enjoy the antique firearms fare, unfortunate that even the collectibles are illegal in the Netherlands even to an adult who can prove themselves mentally competent, though I suppose black powder guns are quite fun and interesting in their own ways. I'd like to get a long rifle myself, though I don't really have anywhere to take it to shoot.
