Well now, let's have looked at the situation of Chinna Thambi, In an elephant camp Chinna Thambi has trained as a kumki elephant, Chinna Thambi's mahout Seladurai shares how he has been trained as a kumki in an earlier stage.
Chinna Thambi is a 25-year-old wild bull elephant. He was captured by forest officials in Coimbatore south Tamilnadu and translocated to kraal at Varakaliyar elephant camp near Topslip. The elephant then escaped and walked more than 100 km (62 mi) back to the place from where he was captured in search of his family. This elephant was both loved and feared by the villagers.

The settlers are greedy & they want to keep on encroaching into elephant corridors & are deliberately getting rid of elephants , the giant forest guards which are moving in their own elephant corridors. What they call as their village or colony or estate or farm land is actually elephant corridors from which they have removed forests and made the entire region susceptible to devastating floods and loss of life. The settlers should be punished with 20 years RI for their crimes against humanity and wild life and forests. The forest department should remove the encroachments in elephant corridors & do reforestation in the denuded elephant corridors & dig ponds and lakes at strategic points for storage of rain water for elephants & other wild life. There should be animal over bridges wherever railway tracks & roads are crossing forests. They should form all captive elephants into herds in a sanctuary including kumki & release them without chains in their own elephant corridors to live happily with their own family & herd & preserve the forests and prevent floods and safeguard us.

Jeeva Rani The following are my suggestions and you can say whether they are viable . The Blue Cross may be requested to send petitions to the government. In the case of kumki elephants , the local animal lovers can join together and send a petition or e mail to the government through Blue Cross that encroachment into elephant corridors should be removed and that the particular kumki elephant should be freed first into a sanctuary and later in the forest. In the case of temple elephants , there must be some devotees in each temple who will be unhappy with the way the their temple elephants are being treated. They can join together and send a petition to the government through the Blue Cross to free their temple elephant first in a sanctuary and then in a forest. In the case of elephants owned by private parties the animal lovers should send petition or e mail to the government through the Blue Cross that these elephants should be surrendered to a sanctuary. Once all the elephants are in sanctuaries they can be divided into herds with each herd having kumki elephants , temple elephants and elephants owned by private parties , male and female belonging to particular elephant corridors and each herd can be sent out to an enclosed area to forage for themselves . Once they are rehabilitated these elephants can be released as herds in their own elephant corridors The elephants which do not make the grade can continue in the sanctuary till they can be eleased in the forest.

Sad to see சின்ன தம்பி in this condition. 😢 He doesn't look like earlier, lot of physical changes. All mistakes are done by humans & chinna thambi getting punished for it. You are correct. Chinna Thambi as well as other kumki elephants , temple elephants and elephants owned by private parties should be released in their own elephant corridors to roam free with their own calves and preserve the forest. The greedy settlers should be punished with 20 years rigorous imprisonment for encroaching into elephant corridors and removing forests and making the entire region susceptible to mud sliding and floods and loss of life , reforestation should be done in denuded forest area.
