Great interview guys. Interesting to hear Ed’s story. What might get overlooked is how legal training is taylor made for this environment of network targeting, analysis, communications and of course working for politicians as agencies and Dod do.

Jack, you should do a segment promoting your books and other articles that you've covered. Challenges in getting sources, dealing with government? Motivations for those works, where to find them. Etc.

Finally caught it.... The Globe bar in the background. My folks picked up two when we were stationed at Wiesbaden... I inherited the big after they were gone. When I was flying Navy, I looked in every BX/PX overseas that I hit... but that was 15 years down the road and never found one.

What a great episode! Ed is a cool guy. I really liked the discussion regarding Ukraine and our government's relationship with them. Hope Ed will write some books so we can hear some more unredacted details of his great CIA career.

I was 24 when 9/11 happened on exercise with 12 Mech Brigade in Canada on the British Army training area in Alberta at Crowfoot Camp on the old school Med-Man Ex. Playing enemy for the Battle Group and Brigade with Milan Ant-Tank system we were Royal Artillery SHORAD Bty. But the unit had a lot of shoulder launch experience so they trained us up on the Det WES (Laser Quasar version of the Milan.) The infantry Sgt from the Royal Anglians said that the twin towers where hit none of use believed him and said your chatting shit mate! Two weeks later on R&R in Calgary seen it on Telly couldn't believe it I was 24 at the time. I famously said to my mate were not going there it's only going to be Royal Marines Commando's and Para Regiment guys and SF lads. January 2002 I was in Kabul and then the mountains doing Observation Posts and Patrols with 1 Royal Anglian Regt. I finished my last tour in 2012. Left the British Army in Dec 2013 couldn't believe what happened with the pull out madness.

Is there anyway you guys can interview some conventional guys as well? The SF community doesn’t win our wars for us with out the conventional side.

when exactly was the last time we won a conventional war? My US history is a bit foggy 🤨

@@armanGT800 your right your history is foggy. When the last time we won a war with just SF? Never
@JimmyJump08612 ай бұрын
@gunnerwright7793 I know how it works gunner,all I was asking is to hear from some conventional guys maybe some support guys too.They play a huge huge role in making things happen as you know. It’s not just SF that’s getting things done
@JimmyJump08612 ай бұрын
@@armanGT800 winning requires a combination of both conventional an SF. SF can be a force multiplier but they can’t substitute for the broader array of military capabilities required to achieve as well as sustain victory in a large scale military conflict
@armanGT8002 ай бұрын
@@JimmyJump0861 dude thanks for the story, that’s not what I asked thu. When exactly was the last time your both conventional n SF won an actual war. Let me start with Korean war = stalemate, Vietnam = complete loss, Afghanistan oh that one still hurts, Iraq = shit show for sure but not a win. Days of SF n force multipliers are done a few hundred AI based drones will fuck up any SF 😂

I don't know if hostilities between us and Gaddafi spun back up because of his speech at the UN in 2009 or if that was just a contributing factor.
@andrewedris28002 ай бұрын
As a child of 1970's, We viewed Gaddafi was an obnoxious, enemy of the USA. He had many megalomaniacal schemes to assert his regional power, supported by his massive petrodollar reserves. He supported many international terrorist and insurgent groups. Sheltered Carlos the Jackal, any anti-Western, anti-colonial group with their hands out. 1980s Sponsored nightclub bombing in Germany that killed US service people. Sponsored Lockerbie Panama flight bombing. By 2012 UN appearance, he was a much degraded, unintelligible old man.

Can someone familiar with agency culture explain why his email to the division chief was received poorly/how it was interpreted, and and why his verbal response explanation (something awful happened and I want to pitch in) defused the situation? To me it sounds the same as what he wrote in the email.
