not exactly that, amrtelia (the love potion) is part of the curriculum so that the student can notice it and avoid it. in the valentine's day event for example, snape teach the kids how to do the potion exactly so that they can avoid being taken by surprise by it. and the potion smell like the person you love (we all have a natural smell) so when she is smelling the potion, she feel's the smell of MC
