Easy tip for measuring out criso from a can. My mother had this easy trick. If you need 1 cup of crisco put one cup of water in a 2 cup measuring cup. Then add the crisco to it measures to the 2 cup line. Water will not mix with the crisco scoop it out. With a spoon it will equal one cup. Your measuring cup will be much easier to clean.

My mom had a delicious hot cider punch that she made in a crockpot! It had cider, pineapple juice, grapefruit juice, cloves and star anise. Soooooo good! She would make it into a hot cocktail with a splash of tuaca for the grown ups!

As you said, it's not true cider, but since freezer space is at a premium we freeze a few gallons like you did, and then i can apple slices in cider instead of making a syrup or pie filling. Great snack for the kids, or i actually do use it for pies and such since i often do no added sugar recipes for us. And then after straining, we have the apple juice to drink. :) Those pumpkin woopie pies look so good!!

Love watching this style of videos ❤ whoopie pies were a favorite of ours as children also! To make the wrapping part go faster we would lay a long line of ciran wrap out on the table and lay 6 or so whoopie pies on it and then use scissors and cut between each one and wrap it up 😊

I try out Danielle Walker’s recipes a lot and she uses Palm Shortening in replace of Crisco. Maybe that would work? I have used the Spectrum brand in recipes and it has done nicely, but I have never made woopie pies.

we stopped using Crisco decades ago. Lard is so much better for you and will give you the same results. I know you try to do things as natural as possible, so you might want to try it. Works great for cookies, pie crusts etc
@americaneclectic3 ай бұрын
Yes, incorporated into batter or dough. For the Whoopie Pies, if you use lard in the filling, it won’t fluff up as much and it will lend a “bacon” flavor to the filling.
