The Ciga Design series U Blue Planet is an award winning watch.
There are many reviews and there are many skits pretending to be reviews on-line.
No matter what your thoughts are on the watch, I think it is always prudent to hold an item in your hand and fully appraise it before passing Judgement.
This is not simply a watch. It is an exquisitely made thing that oozes quality when in the palm of your hand.
There is one question though...is it really a watch...or is it something else?

Hi James. It is a statement and clearly well made...though when setting the clock to twelve for the time lapse it was also misaligned. ...and I forgot to mention that. They really p***ed me off as you can probably tell haha.

A lovely piece of design from the packaging and typography side, but even if I liked it, I just couldn’t wear that out! It’s just a bit odd! The quality of the watch did look outstanding though. I’d definitely check them out if they do more normal models! Cheers John! Love the honesty, that’s why I’m/were here!

Fantastic review, John. Also, you are dead right to call out the company for their somewhat knobbish behaviour. It's really no more than a beautiful bauble; for 700 quid, wearing a 20 quid Vostok Komandirskie on my right wrist just to see the time clearly is too much of a bloody inconvenience. Great job. 31mm lug to lug is quite surprising to me. As you said it's a statement. That's a lot of money to ask but that type of statement is usually at a much higher price, and I can see the appeal.

I am not sure whether they were going for a dressy look, a sporty one or a flashy one. The strap suggests one thing, the size another, the dial yet another. It's looks well made and the, frankly, awkward idea is very well executed. Still it's all over the place. I can tell the time easily but it really doesn't feel like it's supposed to tell the time. They made a piece of jewellery first and then worked out a way to make it tell the time; not the other way around... And seems like they borrowed the solution from Ulysse Nardin. Overall, imho, it's an amusing and well made gimmick I'd definitely fiddle with if I ever saw it somewhere but I wouldn't go out of my way to interact with it. Definitely wouldn't buy it or even wear it if given for free. I'd hold on it to it as a collectible, if gifted one though, just to flash at curious people.

Good review but it's not for me. Looks wrong on a strap like it's awkward! Nice idea though.

It just seems... Pretentious? As though actually telling the time is an afterthought. Its like having a terrarium or fishbowl on your wrist. I appreciate the unique design but clearly its an impractical bit of jewelry meant to just invoke curiosity from spectators. I don't want every Tom, Dick, and Harry asking me what the deal is with my watch.

@@johnswatchjoint Yep, I don't wear my watches for other people. I certainly don't want to be interrogated about them at every turn. Definitely not a watch I'd ever consider. Also I'm not really into the Indian Ocean so the little section of the globe doesn't particularly interest me. I'm sure that is how people who live there feel about maps that favor the northern hemisphere too.

That’s a shame you had such a dreadful interaction with them. I genuinely think it’s a great looking piece (notice I said piece). There are a LOT of watches for the money I would get before this for me. I am thinking someone buying this is either not a true enthusiast or they are and have such collection, and they are looking to add something very unique. Thanks! A two in one today! Nice.

Absolutely not I'm afraid, it's a gimmick that I really don't need. I like the dial but I need to be able to tell what time it is when I look at the thing, not take 30 seconds to work it out.

Ugh, don't like this watch. It's a novelty item, pretty useless, way too big and way overpriced.
