I love the ideas. I’ve used a foot shaped head stock on 3 of my builds. It’s a copy traced from my granddaughter’s foot when she was 5.

Del, I love watching these videos, brother. I just finished making my third cigar box guitar (with my son), and I don't think I would have made any of them were it not for your channel. Just watching the videos is fun and kind of peaceful. I get the idea that you love the Lord (based on a few comments you've made). I'll keep watching your videos, and maybe we will connect in person when the Lord returns.

you always make it look so easy building and playing lol . I really like your posts tho , gave me many ideas on building . i just finished # 25 , 3 string ele. pick up . it maybe my best one yet . for that reason it's mine . I gave over half away to kids with problems , it seems to help them . so it's for a good reason . I just tried my 1st scarf head but it didn't come out to good . I need a better miter box and saw for a better cut . keep your posts coming we watch them .

Great video Del!! As usual! Any how, I offer a suggestion for the drill press sander. Use some 1/2 MDF and cut a 2 1/2 inch hole in the middle. The MDF can be wider and deeper than the drill press table. then glue strips of mdf to the bottom around 3 sides so the pc of MDF does not move when placed on the tabel. You will have to cut a corner out to accommodate the drill press crank. Then you have a flat surface that the sanding drum can lower into and you can maneuver your pc of wood in and out of it. Also it is good to get a sanding belt/drum cleaner at Harbor Freight to keep the sanding drums clean. That is a long pc of eraser like block. It really works good and lasts a very long time. Thank You for your vids and Inspiration!!!

I like your #4.. kinda like a Gibson and Mitchell headstock, but still unique into it's own. I'm about to start making my 1st cbg... If it should turn out to become a serious hobby as I would like to make them as gifts to all my family and friends for whom I know can appreciate one, i would then like to make all the headstocks unique. Some time soon I'll tell if I have the patience to even make just one.

I would like to see a video of you using a CB Gitty 25" scale fully Fretted neck with Basic Headstock adding a Bone Nut two Left and One Right Tuner and 3 string hard tail bridge. I am curious how you would do the neck if you would make a heal for your neck, or just use what they send with blocks under it for support and how high do you set the fret board above the box and using a Delta Bucker 3 string pre wired with tone and volume controls

Scarf joints are the way to go . Once I mastered it , Never do a build without one . Ever tried alternate body styles ? I have one thats shaped like a Explorer.
@MinimGuitars
@MinimGuitars 4 жыл бұрын
An Explorer sounds cool. I'm currently working on building one out of an old toy guitar in the shape of an Ibanez Jem with the monkey grip. With a 600mm scale length it looks pretty close to the real proportions! I'm at the point where I can paint it but can't get to the shops for primer...

Dell your skills are amazing. Can you explain more what that pantontic plus spacing is. Is that similar to the instrument a Woodrow?

Del, I save the thin veneer that comes with some of the boxes and glue it to the center headstock piece prior to adding wings to cover the scarf joint. If I'm staining the headstock or wanting it to be rustic I leave it . It's a matter of taste.

Hi Dale, Been following you for quit some time now. Thank you for all your instruction. I have been building scarf joint necks for my last 10 guitars or so. Do you still file a small groove in the jumbo 0 fret to keep the strings from moving?

Is it me or did your skills advance over the years? I noticed you had a vid that you took a stick out of the ground and now you say, tempered. Did your earlier necks warp? FYI, seems that lock down helped you cause your neck's look way different.
