Since the response was so good on the other tier lists I thought I'd make one that every cigar smoker can relate to!

Yo Stogie Lads! I recently got into cigars and have been binge watching all of your videos over the last few weeks. I really appreciate these tier videos, and your non-cuban content as I am in the US. Would love to see what y'all have been enjoying recently. Or if y'all have a "daily" cigar that you always go back to. Keep up the great content! 💪

What do you think of the Campana Vitola? My favourite cigar the Upmann Connie A is in this size.
@Surtak

Perfectos are my favourite format for a cigar! Beautiful thing to look at, fit my hand nicely, the perfect weight of tobacco for a smoke in my opinion. The tapered ends are a huge plus for me as well, if I can't get something in perfecto I'd happily take a torpedo! I absolutely never get anything 60 gauge, that just doesn't seem like a good ratio to me.

Lancero is S tier all day long. Wrapper dominant, super elegant, quite a long smoke, but almost no chance of being nicotine sick. Other than that, I basically agree with you. Petit corona and corona gorda are wonderful and have better defined niches than a corona.
@manatoa1
@manatoa1 Жыл бұрын
Also, I think torpedos should be A tier. What makes them good is that you can have a large ring gauge body, but a narrower and more comfortable head with some room to choose how wide you want it. I prefer narrow ring gauges generally, but I think some blends just need more leaf to make them work, and the torpedo makes that comfortable.

I always seem to struggle with torpedo sizes, either I get wrapper issues or the draw is too tight

Usually when I smoke I never do it "just because" or as a distraction, I'm really committed to it, so I definitely like long smokes, like churchills (definitely my favorite format with R&J churchill being one of my all time favorites), double corona (lusitanias, awesome cigar, or HdM), and lancero (the fundadores really are something else), but I enjoy robustos and campanas too, I guess it's more a brand thing than a format for robustos and campanas though, because I usually smoke hoyo de monterrey and partagas robustos (epicure n2 and d4) and bolivar campanas with the great belicosos. On the other hand not really a fan of the smaller sizes like corona and petite corona.

Good chart and comparisons. If you love the Corona Gorda then you must like the H. Upmann Mag. 46 like I do. But I do prefer 43 to 50 ring but then I smoke a HdM de Rio Seco (56 ring) and love it so much I forget it's a big ring gauge. It always comes down to how great the cigar is. Prost!

I really think this would have been A LOT better for those of us with less experience if you had shown us an example of each size as you mention them. I have no clue how big a Churchill is, for instance. Kind of makes this Tier list useless to me. I did appreciate your tier lists on Cubans and Non-cubans, tho.

Nice video and I tend to agree in a lot of your choices. I am from the states and hardly ever smoke over 52 RG. I love the Edmundo's and would put them in Robustos extra category. The Hoyo Epi Especial and SC Fuerza are 2 cigars I really like in the Cuban portfolio in the Robusto extra size. I smoke a lot of robustos and PC"s. Churchills when I have the time. I have been heartbroken over the last decade and a half to see how many Churchills and Coronas were discontinued. Favorites of loyal smokers, to be replacrd by the shorter and fatter cigars trend. :( . Keep up the good work !

Oh man sounds like we have the same preferences! I completely agree and it is so saddening to see all the slim cigars go away. Really hoping the trend starts to shift soon!

I’ve not had many of these vitolas. That being said my go-tos are almost always Robustos and Toros. It seems like some of the toros I’ve ordered vary in length. But 6x50 does seem to have a really reasonable smoke time. The great thing about robustos though is that it seems almost impossible to get bored with the stick with the smoke time and the blend balance, so maybe that one takes the cake for me overall. Did the Andalusian bull switch vitola? I ask because the images I’ve seen they looked more like a less exaggerated pyramid vitola than any perfecto I’ve seen. Lanceros are really elegant and i like the emphasis on the wrapper in the blend but the one that i had i seem to remember it getting pretty hot on me similar to a cigarillo and i like to nub my cigars so idk if they’re a good fit for me personally. As far as torpedo’s go i am a fan of the serie v and Quattro maestro blends in torpedo but i always seem to have more difficulty than usual getting a cut on them where the draw won’t be too tight or where the draw doesn’t tighten up significantly somewhere around the second third and i wind up having to mess with it. Thanks for the video goodsir 🙌🏼
@jonathanrobertson3406
@jonathanrobertson3406 8 ай бұрын
I've heard Lanceros are great for truly highlighting the flavor of the wrapper, not because there is more of it, but the ratio of the wrapper to the binder # filler is greater. In other words, the wrapper thickness stays the same, but the amount of filler is reduced.

So glad you gave the Petit Corona a lot of love. Thought you weren't going to. For me they're just the perfect size for a shorter smoke. I don't really have much desire for Coronas because I always prefer a PC or something chunkier

Bro... Spot on. I was dubious, as you made the statement in your Non-Cuban list that being in Sweden you have limited access to US brands. I lamented for you brother, specifically for the absence of Tatuaje, and Illusione. Ahhh, but wonder of wonders, praise the day, you've tasted the good life . Love what you do, thanks.

Lol, we're all set over here. It's you guys missing out on Cubans. NC cigars are just inferior. Very much so. I've never had a NC cigar that left an impression. Except maybe Arturo Fuente, which is a former Cuban brand. But even those don't come close to Cubans. Tatuaje 😂 Illusions 😅 please, bro.
@passcomcompass2623
@passcomcompass2623 3 жыл бұрын
Petit coronas ftw, you stated it perfectly, the Cubans in that size are blended so perfectly I would actually recommend beginners to just smoke this size for all the cuban brands that carry them, and they would have a pretty good idea of the brand's flavors and peculiarities. And they actually pack lots of leaf in it despite the puny size, an average RnJ mille fluers pack 9g while the robusto short churchill pack 10g. And corona gordas are for me just enlarged and perfected versions of the petits. a well aged Magnum 46 will send you up there right next to jesus.

Fascinating about the weights! I didn’t know the robustos and PCs were so similar. I guess it makes sense as the robustos are quite a bit shorter. Thanks for your comment man!

Oh really? I’ve barely ever seen any lines being offered in a corona size. Plenty can be found in the corona gorda size and some petite Coronas but I can’t really find any true Coronas. Are there any you can guide me to? I’m really curious to find some!

@@zachhirsch1953 Ah I’ve just looked through and these aren’t Coronas. The brick house “corona” for example is a 5 x 42 which quite literally is the mareva vitola and the most classic petit corona size. Oliva only seems to have petit Coronas as well. The classic corona vitola is a different size and are traditionally 5 5/8 inches long. This size used to be one of the most popular in the early 1900s but has largely disappeared in modern times.

Sorry to be boring here, but you're not wrong at all. Corona Gorda is close to perfect. A good vitola is not too thick, not too long and straight, for all the reasons that you mentioned. I'd say that I'd rather have a cigar that's much thinner than a robusto, than one that's much thicker. Even if it won't last very long, I can always smoke another right? But just like with flavours and everything else, we're happy that we have access to variation :) At the end of the day, I'm not going to _not_ smoke a cigar based on the vitola (within sane parameters).
