Yeah it is really a mild winter, even we did have some cold days in December.....but sitting casual in a forrest in January in Denmark....that is so strange, but i think we have to get used to it, as it will only get warmer for years to come. Blodpølse YUM i love it......Was a butcher in my younger years (Uddannet butiksslagter) and i made those myself and also Sylte.

Oh Tom, you're rocking my world with honey on blood sausage, I've got to try that!!! I usually make what's called "Hog's Pudding" (same sausage but fried with Thyme and Cumin), but then with the added depth of flavor with the honey, it's going to be a serious game changer!! 😍 Thanks for the tip and I dig the new title sequence 🤘

I can walk a few miles a day after the shoveling is done. If I can I'll take the snow shoes and cross the river by the end of the week. 🐿

Blood sausage or black sausage/pudding as it is called in at least British English tastes a little like gingerbread, not bad at all. In my part of Sweden, Scania in the south, we also have black soup made of geeses blood, and with the same spices as the black pudding. Traditionally the black pudding in Sweden is eaten with bacon and lingonberry jam.

I was always interested in the "Dark Ages" time period...the vikings, anglo-saxons, and even my ancestors, the ancient magyars (hungarians)...I'm just that early medieval type of guy...my limit is 1200 a.d. ....and I heard of vikings using smoke pipes, but I never found a video about what they actually smoked...tobacco was cultivated about 700-800 years later...

Tom, one thing I haven't seen covered, on KZbin or anywhere else, has to do with "period" clothing. Especially how comfortable they are COMPARED TO CLOTHING MADE TODAY! I have ca. 1800 reproduction workman's clothing so I know how well it works. I would have to think that the Viking period apparel was even better.

Great Video and skol! I'd like to offer some small pronunciation tips in reciprocity. Kale: Pronounced /keɪl/. Rhymes with gale and pale. Beautiful roasted with a bit of oil. Cauldron: Pronounced /kɔldrən/. Rhymes with pauldron. The transcriptions are in IPA (international phonetic alphabet)

9:40 It is mouth watering for him. :D What i can recommend if you like this is "Panhas" a German Type of black pudding. That was made specific for frying. I dont know how yours is tasting, could be that it is similar. But i dont know. Maybe just the spices varies. I like black pudding or "Panhas" with cowberries. One of my favorite meals, and very healthy.

Hello Tom, nice to see you. In Germany we say blood sausage and kale. Black pudding content: pork blood and bits of fat, salt, pepper, mayoran, nutmeg. Hey Tom, great video for 2023. We call your blood sausage, black pudding, here. It is made of offal, (liver, lung, heart, kidney, brain, etc.,) All chopped up, mixed with fat, spice's and bound with blood, before being encased in intestine. We used to joke amongst ambulance crews that the blood was old leftovers from the blood banks. Your greens today was Curley Kale. Pronounced"Kayle". As an aside if you use a teaspoon or two of your alcoholic beverage, in the pan after you fry your meat, this will loosen the stick on bits and will go to make a great base for a jus. This is known as "deglazing". That mini cauldron looks interesting. I've always found cauldrons to be too big for just one person......

Thank you for this beautiful video! Where I live (the Northwest of Germany) we have a very similar traditional dish called "Wurstebrot". It's a sausage made of pork, pig's blood and flower, which is then cut into pieces and fried. It is often served with fried onions and/or fried apple slices. Delicious!

Cornelius looks bigger, he's been eating well and is like any dog that first smelt Black Pudding.. they go nuts! My mother, her sisters,and my grandma Ida, made blood sausage every early winter 'hog slaughter', poor farmers (not much money). They used barley or buckwheat in the sausage ( whichever was grown the previous summer).

When I was growing up, we had Scottish neighbors and I remember eating Black Pudding with them at breakfast, I thought it was delicious until I was told what it was, having said that, I still think it's good but chose not to eat it, but that's just me. I remember on my Grandparents farm in Minnesota, they made a duck blood pudding, I can not remember correct spelling of it, but it also had fruit in it (pear i think it was) and other types. it was like a pudding consistency, i was only like 5 at the time but it reminded me of chocolate pudding with fruit. This would be like 1968. glad you are feeling better and have a great 2023. give a hug to the lil pupper for me.
