12:23 while it rarely happens that men-eater bug survives the attack, it does have 600 DEF against the 550 ATK the hourglas has at this point. Contrary to what is said in the outtro, the hourglas does not contest the small utility guys.

Good point. But the hourglass does contest magician of faith and Hane Hane. Honestly I'm just happy to see ONE new card worth discussing this episode other than the old and tired ones we discussed at length before. I do understand the moment they were released and the OCG context makes it a bit more interesting but it's still "broken flip effect and big 2500 dudes revolutionalized the format"

I like this series. Hopefully it makes it far enough to see all the Maxx C formats in the ocg lol. I'd really like to see how dominant dragoon had to be to get banned. And they got halq way earlier so there's certain decks that never existed in the same version from the history of the ocg. I know we have a long way to go but I'm routing for it last that long. Could work Cimo. Keep up the good work.

The true thing to celebrate about this episode is that Dragon Capture Jar is arguably no longer meta relevant. I guess Blue-Eyes White Dragon is still the biggest standalone monster, but two tributes for Man-Eater Bug, Fissure, Trap Hole, Dark Hole, Raigeki, Hane Hane... all pretty bleak. Also considering hand size limit doesn't exist I'm surprised Hane Hane isn't being considered more; recurs your own flip monsters or bounces a tribute summon and prevents it from being reborn.

it's funny to see how unbalanced and kinda bad the first ygo sets were (even the TCG ones looking back) current TCGs at least give you several decks you can build with the first booster... YGO well.. yeah you had ONE good deck (and ...well that didn't change that much and rarities were even more shit back then :D i mean LOB: only the holos were playable and FEW rare cards. The monsters basically (excpet a few) were kinda unplayable in the level 4 area (except the 2000 def walls. and most of them you got in starter set also) since you had La Jinn

Just to make sure you and MBT know, Hourglass of Courage has a different effect at this point in time. For three turns (including your opponent's) following the Normal or Flip Summon of this card, the ATK and DEF of this monster are halved. From the 4th turn onward, both the ATK and DEF are doubled.

It's a shame Summoned Skull never got proper good support. It sorta got it with Red-eyes and Archfiends, but they were mid at best.

technically, summoned skull always was an archfiend- except that archetypes weren't a thing yet and so it wasn't localised with as much care and attention as later proved necessary
