In game 1 if gage had used book on bora, both black whirlwinds wouldn't be able to resolve leaving cimo's hand empty. In game 2 if gage would've attacked the sangan before ced he would've had more chances to win. This game was closer than it looked

Good point on the first one, but that second one was risky. If he had taken the risk and been wrong it would have just reduced the damage done, so it's iffy if that was worth it. Would be even worse if there were battle traps but I guess none of those were being played. Even then though it wouldn't have been a sure thing for Gage because it would have taken 2-4 turns for him to win, and Cimo's deck is consistent enough that it might have backfired, while Gage's is more iffy. First game was a misplay for sure, but second was just unfortunate and not a sure victory.

Gage has a decent Gravekeeper's core that he isn't using, and with the new stuff coming up soon, he can make good use of it. Plus, even if chaos was his only option, he's playing like multiple cards that are shit tier rn. D.D. Warrior Lady, Jinzo, Mobius, and Tomato are all super slow, Royal Oppression is absolutely pointless (gives Alex more opportunities to negate CED or DAD), Jain's milling is omega bad because it fucks up Dark counts for DAD and has a chance to mill good cards like Cold Wave and Confiscation, and My Body and Trap Stun are decent but bricky as hell. Meanwhile, he could play Dark World Chaos that just looks to trade one-for-ones with Chaos Sorc and Silvaa, he could go with the aforementioned Gravekeeper's deck (HE HAS THREE ROYAL TRIBUTE! THREE!), or hell even if he wants to play Monarchs and shit he has Treeborn frog and a lot of recruiters that he can just play super stally with. And don't even get me started on the burn decks he can experiment with

Yeah, I feel that before the spin imbalance wasn't TOO big a deal, but now that there are exclusive super powerful packs that only appear once or twice all series, it's really unfair. Losing one game could give your opponent massive power depending on the set, as we saw, Cimoo got 2 necrovalley and a foolish from the turbo packs, things that are basically completely unavailable for the rest of the series.

Yeah these past 4 weeks really shown how good getting those power 1-ofs really is. A good monster core can be acquired in a bevy of ways, even if it wasn't Chaos as Cimo originally hoped. Instead, it's Blackwings BUT, while Gage has a bunch of home run hitters, he lacks the consistency, the support, and the strength of reactive spell/trap disruption that makes Cimo's deck hard to overcome. He basically has to draw Cold Wave or he loses, and it's made the series very unfun this past month. Instead of the back and forth where both players show off some insane pulls, its now Gage loses to Blackwings + some combination of Torrential/Heavy/Raigeki/Snatch Steal/Order

Like I mentioned before, no matter what gage does to change his deck, he will always be at disadvantage since cimoo has all the power spells and trap. Game 1: raigeki ruined his board, game 2- heavy storm took out +2 backrow. There is nothing that comes up for several sets that will amount to either one of those cards. Raigeki and Heavy storm is better than CED (without priority as they play it) and DAD. As for ways for gage, he needs to either try to add black wings to his deck with +8 cards in his main ( i believe he has x3 shura, x3 kalut, x1 gale already) +3 icarus attack, delta crow anti reverse. The other option is to get rid of the tomatoes and add gravekeepers spies and a guard back in his deck to wall the black wing 4 star monsters. force him to synch up, kalut, or burn a raigeki to get clear field.

Also at least we saw Cimo making an effort to adjust his deck each week but Gage apparently can't even be bothered to shake things up. For being the most popular Progression Series on KZbin, it's disappointing that one of the decks has stayed the same for 20 episodes give or take a few cards.

@@maxlongtin5444 Let's be a bit more reasonable here. I do think Gage is trying, I just don't think he can see anything in his card pool that can give him a chance of winning against a BW core. I know MBT made a few decks with a Future Fusion Strategy and a Gravekeeper's core, and I honestly think he should go those routes just for the fun of it and to add some variety, and focus on hard counters such as Mind Crush, but honestly I do not think those decks are much better than his current deck against Cimoo as it stands.

I actually think quite a lot of people knew that Cimoo's stable spell and trap card pulls have been worth way more than Gage's boss monster pulls, even at the time Gage pulled them. I was a bit unsure when Gage started pulling better Synchros, but the fact of the matter is that Synchros don't really have much of an opportunity to have an impact most of the times besides Goyo Guardian which they both share 1 copy of.

I remember the World Championship Yu-Gi-Oh games on DS and my first experience with Blackwings. I didn’t have a lot of money or cards back then but I got to build a powerful Blackwing deck for the time and year (in the game’s context) while also being able to duel people online in the game. I won a lot of games playing them and it was a ton of fun and I was a fan of the archetype ever since (Maybe not the level of other people... lol). Good stuff guys, brings back some good memories and makes me want to play them again, especially those old games!

Man this just goes to show how the synchro era put its foot on the pedal of the meta. Blackwings were such a resilient, consistent strategy compared to everything we'd seen before. It had searchable recursion, always won the battle phase and could do pretty much everything it needed with a Blackwing and a Whirlwind, so it had a huge amount of room for traps. Gage just doesn't have access to anything that can compare to that consistency. It's rough that the only two strategies that could compete with it for those two years are almost entirely holo based and require cards Gage just doesn't have access to. GK is probably his only chance, and that doesn't pick up until Starstrike Blast. Maybe Scraps? Here's hoping Gage pulls broken from DREV. He'll need some masterful deckbuilding to start picking up wins again.

GAGE, RUN FORCED BACK!!! You pulled at least 2 back in EOJ. This was a common side option back when BW’s were the meta; it completely shuts down their turn: - No Whirlwind search - No swarming if Cimo can’t get the normal summon through - Icarus and Kalut are dead with no BW’s on board

Chaos Trap Hole also accomplishes the same. Too bad Cimo had Heavy because that would definitely have been a good answer. Also, consider running more Book of Moon. The only thing it does not stop is Icarus but you have My Body and Trap Stun. BoM stops Whirlwind, prevents Cimo from controlling the face-up BW in order to special Gale/Bora, and is a great work around to Kalut.

The format could be flipped on it’s head with Rulers, Pendulums and other stuff. Gage’s deck is just too slow ATM, so he auto loses to blow out cards like Raigeki, Storm, Snatch or Icarus.

Gage you could have booked the Bora game 1 to prevent whirlwind searches. Dont worry about the icarus too much, it NEEDS 2 targets so that can be a way to play around it. Trap stun is enough for that. Focus on interupting whirlwind by dealing with the monster on summon (book bottomless compulse). Twister mained also looking solid. Cimo already had a strong game plan / deck so its time to turn the tide!

Gage needs to utilize those Consecrated Lights that would completely shut down Cimo unless he draws one of the 3-4 outs he has to it. Might actually allow him to make plays. Also, would help if he would quit misplaying, which seems to be a constant thing for him. Booking that Bora and attacking the set monster could have been winning plays. Hopefully things change, was kind of my worry that one person would completely power creep the other eventually, and it seems Cimo's BW's are doing that for sure.

Dude, Cimo, it's okay. The supers and secrets you keep pulling wouldn't have been any other supers or secrets, and they still speak for some pretty damn good luck. Don't focus on the negatives when pulling that much. And i really hope Gage can find SOME kind of strategy to compete with you again, it's looking to get stale atm since you sadly steamroll him too much. I wish it were close and even battles, but he doesn't have anything to facilitate a deck that can stand against the blackwings.

Gage, you have a lot of options to hard counter black wings. I’ll try and put some thoughts down relative to your card pool. Smashing ground / Dark Home for going second to remove fear of Kalut and Icarus. Any card that disrupts a normal summon (or even lowers attack) stops BWW, as the monster needs to remain face up to revolve. Shame you don’t have MST, hitting BWW or end phase sets are huge. Dust Tornado isn’t a bad replacement here. But Chaos trap hole is ideal. Counter trap stops Icarus being chained. Good shout on the My Bodies and Trap Stun, but they have limited uses (in terms of doing nothing on their own unless the opponent plays into it). Stun has more playability here but is slow. Try and find more versatile cards that achieve what you’re looking for. That’s stopping a blacking being on the field (and ideally reactive to also stop a search trigger). If I’m being honest it shows Cimo is new to black wings judging by some decision trees and ignorance to rulings (but to fair they’re old cards now!). Spy may be worth a try again. Maybe for Tomato as Shura runs that over. I get Tomato can cycle for a DAD / CED play but the risk is huge. Spy will either wall or force a damage step Kault (but still replaces in card advantage). Then the BW player is left with a choice to synchro early or leave Shura and it’s floater on board. Either way you get a body from spy to make a counter play. A Raiza for example, which would be huge. Concealed light and Shadow Imprisoning mirror hose the deck, but you’re on darks too. So can only play the cards when you have advantage of a different strat. I’m not sure what your total card pool is, but frog monarchs might be an option for a massive change up. No Caius but there are replacements. You have the broken banner cards too and synchro plays from Blaster. Maybe even a change to FTK with Mass Driver. DD Crow could also be considered to prevent Blizzard. But that’s all it’s really doing. The card is easily searched at least. Definitely play Veiler if you get one next set.

I have been giving it much thought and finally thought of an inserting thing to make the ghost rares and dead cards you pull and never use matter. To make the prices of the cards given on the website have an effect on the metta much like how pulling a rare card at a local can be traded away to build a collection or advance a strategy. Hear me before writing this off. What if Once a week a player can trade-in or sell cards from their case. A player may also sell their torment pack for 100 dollars instead of opening them as well for the time the torment packs mean nothing. So long as in tottle the selling cost is something like $1000 for Common $2000 for Rare $3000 for Super Rare $400 for Ultra rare and $5000 for a Secret Rare. The cards you can buy are any card that can legally be found in the core boxes, not side structure decks not promo just any card in a core box from any set up to this point. NOTE THE BOX YOU ARE PULLING THIS WEEK MAY NOT BE BOUGHT FROM ONLY PAST CORE SETS if you want to go wild it can be 10,000 for a card from a structure deck or any card up to this point in roation it does not like fully matters if the cards sold are fully kept track of what cards you sell as you would never use skull redbird again but even if you overpay it does not matter, you can even say ok chat I sold XXXXX to buy this card this week. it seems simple enough to add the card name to a word documanet ALSO NOTE ANY PLAYER THAT BUYS A CARD must say so too their opponent at the begging of each episode like btw Nyhmnim/Cimoooooooooo I went out and Bought X card so get mega punhsied this will allow a player to both minimize luck and encouraging new strategies as they think which core card is worth buying or trading for. This way you both can get cards you never got lucky enough to pull, put to use those ghost rares collecting dust, and open up new decks that are missing 1 to 2 cards. ANDDDDD since it is limited to once a week it would be like you can work towards building, countering or prepping a deck you like over time. Kinda like the card trader in duel link where you can sell cards for better ones???????????????????????????? if this is not possible please tell me why am going to add this comment to every progression series ep even if am wasting my time
