Yeah that's why the mom and aunt decided at 3:27 to get between dad and the babies to prevent an accident........sometimes animals are smarter than humans.

This dad is just amazing. He's been with the cubs from the first minute!!! There are new ones now (from the other female) and he's part of the troop again.

They are over weight because they don't hunt dad especially in a zoo setting the enclosures are never big enough and I'm not sure about this zoo as this video is actually from 2015 three years ago, Lions need some sort of enrichment change of enclosures switch around so they don't just sit in one area bored everyday . At big cat rescue in Florida what they have is a huge area with a lake and room to roam not even be seen if that's what they want, they take turns switching the lion's and tiger's on what they call vacations so they are not stuck in the same enclosures all the time they also make enticement item's for them things to chew tear up it seems to help a lot and all the big cat's actually look happy, if they have to live in captivity at least their lives should be good one's. Of course they do not breed any all have been rescued from circuses or stupid people keeping them as pet's! They do not believe in letting them have cubs to live a life in captivity although in the wild only 1 in 9 will survive and the number of lion's and tiger's in the wild is very low now due to human's!! Such a shame these kings can survive fires having hardly any water or food and still thrive but they have 0 chance with human poachers. Hope this family is still well and healthy they are beautiful and look to be well cared for.

They don’t look overweight to me, in fact very similar to those in the wild. Their diets would be very carefully monitored by a team of vets and animal nutritionists. But I do wonder how much exercise they get.
