Probably because it's not trying to copy the original. It's based on the same fairy tale, but goes in a different direction.

This is actually a pretty cool scene! Showing the guys slowing turning back to their original animal forms, the coach turning back to a pumpkin with Cinderella in it, plus the horses turning back to mice! Well done, Kenneth Branagh.

I think it is a representation of her dreams , making that dream into a reality with the glass slipper. A glass slipper is like a dream because it is made of glass, it breaks easily. Cinderella holds onto that dreams which made the glass slipper not disappear, Even of how fragile that dream is, she holds on it. (That's just how I think of it)

***** It also helps that this movie doesn't parody, satirizes of mocks the original fairy tale. It fully embraced it and executed it in the best possible way. The story has development, the characters are humanized and have proper personalities and motivations. And the lesson is properly presented and delivered. I never thought I'd see a Cinderella movie that's thought provoking and makes me think. It's really a miracle.

I remember how they used the cliff scene in trailers as her ARRIVAL to the ball, and I was so shocked with 'what kind of scenery this is? did fairy arrive that late so they needed to rush?' hahahaha I also like how they used animals mentioned in the original fairytale + how footmen & coach still kept their animal features even in human form. Truly the best remake do date

I love this so much more than the animated version. The animated one was too fast and didn't show how Ella managed to get out of the pumpkin, but this version, was more thrilling, the music was better, and how the magic was wearing off was more realistic. In the original film, the magic wore off in like a second.

I much prefer this scene than the one in the animated film. The way the animated film did the midnight scene was way too intense and gave me nightmares. At least in this version, the music is not intense and the palace guards do not look evil.

This scene is so awesome. Everytime I see a new Cinderella, this is one of the scenes I really look for (like the tornado in the Wizard of Oz). I love how they were already underway when midnight struck, makes it feel more realistic unlike in the first Disney movie (not that I don't love that one). Also the magic slowly wearing off was a very nice touch as was Ella getting trapped. I always say that once that clock starts chiming, I'd get out while there was still a door.

Lily James please refrain from sticking your head outside of the pumpkin. And for the love of all things holy please set still until the ride is over. Believe it or not but I did feel a little bit terrified for you no really while watching this scene. I truly felt like anxious and worried that I'll be absolutely devastated if you ever got hurt. Every time I see this scene I feel sorrow in my eyes praying and hoping that you don't get hurt. Even right now I'm having little bit of tears my eyes right now I was so actually terribly worried. I truly hope that you walked away from the scene unhurt without any scrapes and scratches. I would feel absolutely terrible if you got hurt in any way😢

Yikes! This was pretty stressful - I kept waiting for one of the animals to get smashed into a thousand bits. I just realized that you can see the pumpkin seeds inside the carriage - nice touch. The ears popping out on the horses was the best though.

Shrek once asked "why is it always midnight?" If the fairy godmother had come to Cinderella earlier, she would have had longer. It was because the magic only lasts for the day. At midnight, it's a new day. I also love the sense of urgency they add to the scene with the gears winding up to add that first gong, having the clock's gongs, the magic slowly just running out.

I thought this scene was the best one they filmed!! For those of who grew up with the original, remember the terrifying dragoons chasing her with swords and red capes!! Although not as scary, this was pretty intense and as soon as the clock CHIMES 12, it really gets faster!! I love the sound editing in this with the music, the clock and the horses as they try and rush to beat the clock!!! Even the crashing of the tidal wave on the rock is so detailed. I did not like how they did Maleficent, but when I saw this, I said "They've got a hit!!!"

the pumpkin smashing onto that log at that speed looks deadly to me. Yikes. The only way you'd escape that alive or without a concussion or a few broken bones must have been magic, plus her landing on her feet like that. Surprised she didn't get them to pull the carriage over before it turned into a pumpkin. Pretty sure most people would be afraid for their life at that moment.

it could be more intense with goose having the horses speed up like saying"HURRY YOU MICE WE DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME! HURRY!" and near the end as they are transforming the king catches a bit of a glimps of what is happening and cinderella's dress also slowly transfoms and as they get home they got there at the last second just in time!

+Tuckerscreator Actually if you look at part 1 of this video, you can see Cinderella looking at the clock. (which reads 11:59) Which means Cinderella really did have less than a minute to get out of the castle before even the first stroke of midnight started.

I can just picture the Captain (Nonso Anozie) being like “King Robb Stark.” and The Prince (Richard Madden) answering “Xaro Xhoan Daxos, King Of Quarth.” When they first met on the set #GameOfThrones 😂
