I always hate it when people call Cinderella lazy and generic despite her being one of hardest working (early) princesses in line up what do Aurora and SnowWhite do to get in the line up, sing with animals (both) bake pies (SnowWhite) and dance (both) in the forest until their under sleeping spells, and than sleep until their princes come to wake them up, meanwhile Cinderella has to cook and clean for 3 emotionally and verbally twats until she gets herself a prince and a castle for remaining kind (to those deserving of it). When she gets trapped she actually tries to escape,she bangs on the door calling her mice and birds friends to get the key. She does so much more than SnowWhite and Aurora, yet for some reason of the classic 3 she’s the one who is always singled out.

I remember a book a read a few years ago that was basically Chinese Cinderella, I don't remember the name of it but I do remember the ending. Namely that after she marries the prince the book explicitly tell you that the Step Mother and sisters are left in abject poverty and forced to live in a cave for years before being crushed by a meteorite, a true happy ending.

I think the prince is gay and married Cinderella because when they danced he decided she is the only woman he wouldn't mind being married to, that they love each other as friends. Marriage doesn't always have to be about romance. Cinderella gets out of the abusive situation and the prince gets his dad off his back about the marriage thing. Everyone wins! :D And considering Cinderella's life, I wouldn't be surprised if she and the prince adopt orphaned peasant children to prevent what had happened to her from happening to other kids.

I've heard the argument on why the glass slippers can only fit Cinderella when they could fit anyone. Well from a historical context, I think it's because back in the day when there were Cobblers, they would make shoes specifically to fit one individual, at least for the wealthy. So it would make sense for the glass slippers to only fit Cinderella because they fitted her feet exactly.

Thank you for this. Cinderella has long been my favorite fairytale. As such, it really surprises me that so many people have disparaged Cinderella’s story as her being weak. When really, as you point out, the message is to hold on to whatever gets you through the shitty times. It’s often the only thing keeping you sane. As a sidenote; after watch this and your other video ‘Wank On, Wank Off’, it makes me wonder; after watching the movie and seeing how badly she was treated, I don’t know anyone in their right mind who would expect or even encourage Cinderella to forgive her stepmother and stepsisters for their cruelty and abuse. So, why should it be any different for real life victims of abuse?

Am I the only one who'd think it was cool if both the Prince and Cinderella were gay but they were encouraged to dance together by someone else and the whole time they were just joking around to each other about how they totally weren't going to become a couple, and making fun of 'true love at first sight' (Then Cinderella might tell him about her stepmother being an abusive bitch, he'd agree to help her (And have Lady Tremaine executed or something :D), and it ends with one of them finding someone they're actually interested in and the other just cheering them on in the background)

out of the classic three of Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora, Cindie's the one who earned and deserved her happy ending. She went through at least 10 years of psychological torture at the hands of her stepmom and stepsisters, forced to do everything for no reward- who wouldn't want a better life after being a slave for a decade? and even in the straight-to-dvd sequels, she still did shit to make her the better of the three: in Dreams Come True, she helps the castle help and the... un... i forget her name, but she's the red-headed stepsister- anyway, she helps her become a better person and find love. then there's Twist in Time, where she pretty much had to start over after the head bitch did timey wimey shenanigans, and getting to know the prince better in both

Know what would be awesome? If the next time there's a Cinderella remake (lets face it, with how many remakes there already are there's bound to be another), this happens: Cinderella arrives at the ball; she comments that the prince looks bored &, although sympathising with him 'bout the boredom, she is unimpressed by his appearance despite him being very handsome an' she doesn't understand why the other women around her are so eager to dance with him; someone pushes her while on their way to the prince, causing Cinderella to bump into another young lady; they start talking, an' the lady looks a lot like the prince; when the dancing starts, they're so into their conversation that they walk into the gardens to keep talking with each other under the stars while everyone else is busy dancing; Cinderella enjoys herself so much that she doesn't notice midnight has rolled around 'til the clock starts striking 12 p.m.; like in this movie, she leaves in a hurry (& her new friend/girlfriend gets really worried at the sudden run away from their romantic evening - there were 2 swans making a heart as they bumped heads while the girls watched, the girls gazed into each other's eyes while talking, they at one point started holding hands, an' right before the clock's bell started ringing they were about to kiss); as the lady (I dunno what her name is yet, any suggestions?) hurries after Cinderella, she finds the glass slipper; next day, instead of the Prince or the Duke or someone else involved with the royal family, it's Lady who goes around looking for someone whose foot can fit into the glass shoe (people's reactions range from humouring her to thinking she is insane, no-one knowing why she is doing it since she isn't dumb enough to tell them as it's too risky in that time period to not be heterosexual); like in this movie, Cinderella's stepsisters & stepmother notice that she is kinda spacey an' really happy, so they promptly try to make her miserable; encouraged by the happiness her memories from last night give her, Cinderella sneaks out to have a break; she hears of a young woman who matches Lady's description to be walking around trying to get people to put on a glass slipper & so she starts searching for Lady, unaware that the Tremaines found out 'bout her sneaking out an' they're coming to the village looking for Cinderella (stepmother plans to ensure everyone in the village thinks Cinderella is stupid/horrible/etc. & to punish her after they've dragged her home); Lady & Cinderella's happy reunion is instantly interrupted by the Tremaines an' things go downhill due to a public confrontation, with the girls shamed by a few of the villagers for being in love with each other while Mrs Tremaine's reputation takes a nosedive due to both Cinderella's sexuality & the abuse she'd endured (several villagers focus on the abuse thing instead of on the girls); a few guards hear all the hullabaloo & so come to investigate (they had already been looking around for Lady since they heard 'bout someone who looks like her going around asking people to try on a glass slipper); Lady tells the guards to arrest Mrs Tremaine an', to the shock of everyone except herself & the guards, they do so right away; Lady asks Cinderella whether her stepsisters should be arrested too, but she (after Cinderella gets over her shock) says it's not necessary; Cinderella & Lady go to the palace alongside the guards an' the arrested Mrs Tremaine; the king gets kinda pissed off at seeing Lady & Cinderella holding hands, but in a "I thought I taught you better!" type of way; the guards explain to the king & the prince why they've arrested Mrs Tremaine, which the king O.K.s thus Mrs Tremaine ends up in prison; Lady introduces Cinderella to the prince & the king an' vice versa, it turns out that Lady is actually the prince's sister meaning she is a princess; she asks Cinderella to marry her, & (even though Cinderella worries that Lady will be disowned) the answer is yes; the king at 1st tries to convince Lady that she is "being unreasonable", but the prince fully supports his sister & even threatens to walk off if she is disowned; not wanting to lose his children & knowing his kingdom would have to deal with either its heirs gone with no-one to continue the royal lineage or a lesbian princess, the king relents; Cinderella & Lady get married the next day an' live happily ever after. The End Wouldn't it be great if the next Cinderella adaption would go like that?
