your idea worked my mitchell and ness hoodie had long ass sleeves I never wore it now ill be wearing it tomorrow. I did mess up on the second sleeve i did it backwards i was up till 2 am finishing up

Hey is it possible to shorten the actual edge of the sleeve ? Sorry I don't know how it is called. But like cut the area between the white stripes ?

Hi! I have a question.. If the seam of the sleeves of my sweatshirt are too low and they don’t exactly start in my shoulder, is there a problem? they start at like the middle of my upper arm. Will i be able to do this without it looking weird?? tyy

Is there a way to shorten the sleeve and place the cuff on as it originally was? I am worried about the knit unraveling; although your sample looks like a more dense fabric then what I need to fix. Would a sewing machine work better? I want it to look like it. Thanks.

Hmm good question. You could cut the sleeve, sew around the rough edge with a machine to prevent unravelling, and then sew it on by hand. That would be my suggestion! Good luck and let me know how it goes! xox

The stitch you are demonstrating is an old embroidery stitch called an overcast stitch.

Hello Miss Cinderella. thank you for posting this video. I assume that this could be done with a sewing machine right? I'm learning how to use one. I'm 5'7 and find sometimes that the sleeves in my jackets or shirts a bit long. I'm going to try this. I have you every shorten the sleeves on a denim Jacket keeping the original hem? I have one but have not used it much because is long on the sleeves. If you ever think of making a video I would love to see it. Thanks again for this great tutorial.

Argh- I did this but it looks a mess, you can clearly see where i've sewn and I hate it. My jumper has a weird 'Frankenstein' vibe now where you can see the stich marks around the wrist (yes I used the right coloured thread). Wish I hadn't been such a cheap skate now and gone to a proper seamstress :(

This works fine for a material sleeve, what about a knit sweater that would unravel if you cut it

as long as you sew it up like in the video, that will stop the unravelling :) just use tight and lots of stitches. good luck! let me know if you need any help
