Very nice! This shelf liner rubber also works great to "sweep" away bits of thread, lint on my ironing board. Even works well for cat hair on surfaces! I have also adde it to the undersides of chair and bench pads to keep them from sliding.

I've seen them made with a small magnet sewn into the corner after you turn it, before stiching it up. Then it sticks to the side of your refrigerator.
@CindyBeesQuiltShoppe Жыл бұрын
I do see how that would be handy but I would be worried about the magnet interfering with using it on different sizes of jars... hmmm

For persons with a weaker grip (Arthritis, Neurology concern in the fingers/hands, decreased sensation/circulation in fingers/hand, I suggest adding another outside layer of the rubberized "shelf liner" on the "back" so your hand doesn't slip on the cotton fabric while gripping a container top. One of my Grandmother's showed me how to use the back edge of a dinner knife, holding the handle and tap (not gently, however, but enough to dent the lid's edge) on edge of container top around in 6 places (like on the face of a clock @ 12, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 o'clock) to loosen the pressurized seal; makes it easier to open. Another suggestion: make two 2-sided grippers, holding one around the jar, & the other hand loosening the lid.

Great gift idea! I use a sewing machine needle in place of where you used a sewing pin to help get tight angles moving again. It’s sturdier and won’t bend. 😊

Painters tape on the rubber side makes top stitching much easier.
@begonial61512 жыл бұрын
I wonder if you could also put a ribbon all around on the rubber side and end it in a loop. That will help with the sewing since it won’t stick. Thanks!
@CindyBeesQuiltShoppe Жыл бұрын
I will have to try that and see how it turns out!
@ruthfitzwater-cn3vc Жыл бұрын
Handy idea-since you are doing a 1/4” around the edges, why couldn’t you put the top side down to do the top stitching and then there would not be a “sticking” problem?
@kirstenheidorn41883 жыл бұрын
Definitely will be trying this! Why the second layer of fabric, though? Because it will be visible through the liner?
@CindyBeesQuiltShoppe3 жыл бұрын
It is a bit visible through the shelf liner. So by putting the second fabric you do not see the wrong side of our top layer.

I I’m tryin to make a bunch of these for my granddaughter to sell at her school craft fair. Mine never glide through the machine like yours. If I tug it gets askew and doesn’t look so good. Does anyone one know of a breakaway or dissolving interfacing? Any other suggestions would be helpful. I love your tutorials every time. Thanks for all of them.

I use a 2.5mm stitch and a denim needle, size 90/14 needle. You can also use a microtex needle if the denim needle is not available.

I love that you only use one side cloth and the other the gripping material. I have seen it done with two pieces of fabric and I thought .... WHY?
@BobbieBTexas9 ай бұрын
She used two pieces of fabric and the rubber gripper that I saw in this video is there another one?
@Karenhernandez-ds3wf7 ай бұрын
The two pieces of fabric is so a “pretty” side is showing through the back. The shelf liner has holes and you would see the wrong side of the top fabric if you didn’t use the second fabric to have pretty showing through.

How important is the cotton thread? Is it an absolute must? Ty
@marysickler39132 ай бұрын
No you don't since it can't go in microwave and not exposed to a heat source because of the rubber.

What is the blue material used with the grip and design material and is it necessary to us it
@CindyBeesQuiltShoppe Жыл бұрын
The blue material is there so you won't have raw fraying edges that will poke through the grippy stuff. It is just quilting cotton. Also gives a bit extra stability.
