FYI, you are helping keep my marriage going... I have asked my wife, who has a keen eye in the editing booth, to show up on set. Especially when she 'wished we got a shot of...'. When I try to explain, after the fact, why we didn't... Well, you can imaging how that turns out. Having her come to your site, saves my bacon... So, many thanks, keep up the great work, and here's hoping she doesn't read these comments...

Is there a "reverse L" cut so to say? say if you want to create sequence where you want the past to linger on. Lets say two people are arguing, but then it cuts to one person driving away but we can hear the last bit of the argument. Or a scene where a martial artist is hearing his teachers last words as it cut to the enemys face.

Man please do more about this montage technique topic.

I hate the J cut, it tends to be in cheaper made movies and some really mash it up by putting the audio of the next clip not for 2secs but for 4sec so the video begins to not make sense and gets confusing after multiple J cuts are done
@NoTalentGuy5 жыл бұрын
L cut was nice :)
@allyncovington77786 жыл бұрын
The very first thing is wrong? It's still a jump cut until you move the angle at least 30 degrees. It looks weird and is possible more distracting than the first example which could have been a stylistic choice made by the editor considering the framing was EXACTLY the same.

you are confusing inserts with cutaways; also, a reverse @L@ looks like a J, don't you think? that's a J cut

Love your videos but I must say these are just editing techniques. Not montage techniques.
@kaihocompany8 жыл бұрын
You are right, I think it has to do with Dutch being his mother tongue. In Dutch the word 'montage' is synonymous with 'edit'.
